I sat by my window, my astronomy notebook resting in my lap as I jotted down the stars I could see from here. The night was calm, the air cool against my skin.
Crack.
I jumped, my notebook slipping from my hands. I looked outside and saw Miles standing below, waving up at me. His other hand was tucked behind his back.
I pushed the window open, letting the crisp night breeze in as I stuck my head out.
"Hey, Miles," I whisper-yelled, careful not to wake anyone.
"Hi, sweetheart," he said, his voice carrying softly through the night.
I glanced around, searching for a way to get him up here. "So... how are you gonna get up?"
Miles rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "Not sure."
"Hold on," I said, hurrying to my closet. I grabbed my broom, then leaned out the window. "Catch!"
I let go, and Miles caught it with his free hand, his other still tucked behind his back. He hopped on and slowly made his way up to my window.
"Hey," he said once he was level with me.
"Hi." I smiled at him.
"I got you something." He pulled out a small bouquet of hollyhocks. They were so pretty—white with hints of pale red at the center.
"Oh, Miles, they're beautiful," I murmured, taking them from his hand and admiring each one carefully.
With a quiet thud, he climbed inside, but I was too focused on my flowers to pay much attention.
"You like them?" he asked.
"I love them," I said, pressing a small kiss to his cheek in gratitude.
He pulled me into a hug, careful not to crush the flowers. "I'm glad. They were kinda hard to get... and a bee stung me in the neck. Look, right here."
He tilted his head to show a tiny red dot. If he hadn't pointed it out, I wouldn't have even noticed. Dramatic as always—he just wanted my attention.
"Oh, my poor boy. Did it hurt?" I asked, my voice dripping with sweetness.
"Just a little," he said, barely holding back a smile. "Maybe a kiss would make it better."
I rolled my eyes but leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to the spot.
"Better?" I whispered against his skin.
"Yeah... a little," he murmured.
I pulled back, smirking. "Good."
I turned away to find something to put the flowers in. Behind me, Miles kicked off his shoes and flopped onto my bed.
"Oh, come back," he whined.
I chuckled, shaking my head as I filled a small vase with water and placed the hollyhocks inside.
I placed the hollyhocks in the vase and smiled softly before turning back to the bed, where Miles was sprawled out, his hands behind his head, watching me with that easy grin I adored. Without thinking much, I crossed the room and slipped onto the bed beside him, resting my head on his shoulder.
He tilted his head to look at me, his voice soft and teasing. "What are you doing, sweetheart?"
I sighed, my fingers absentmindedly tracing shapes on his chest. "Just looking at the stars before you showed up."
He smiled, his arm wrapping around me to pull me closer. We stayed like that for a while—the room filled with nothing but the sound of our steady breaths and the faint whisper of the wind through the open window. His warmth was comforting, and I could feel the steady rise and fall of his chest beneath my cheek.
Suddenly, he stirred. "Hey," he said, his voice bright with an idea. "What if we looked at the stars from the roof?"
I lifted my head to meet his eyes, arching a brow. "The roof? Miles, it's a little cold for that."
His grin grew wider, playful and determined. "Hold on, I got it." He hopped up from the bed and made a beeline for my closet, rummaging through until he pulled out a thick, soft blanket. "We'll lay this down on the roof. Problem solved." He shot me a triumphant look.
I couldn't help but laugh at his excitement. "Fine," I said, sitting up and shaking my head with a smile. "But if I freeze, you're warming me up."
"Gladly," he replied, flashing a cheeky smile as he offered me his hand.
We made our way carefully out the window and up onto the roof, the shingles still warm from the sun but cooling quickly under the night sky. Miles spread the blanket out, smoothing it with his hands before flopping down dramatically and patting the space beside him.
I chuckled and settled next to him, and instantly, his arm slipped under my shoulders, pulling me close. The night sky stretched endlessly above us, a canvas of stars scattered like glittering stories waiting to be told.
"See that one there?" I said, pointing up at a particularly bright star. "That's Vega. It's part of the Lyra constellation. In mythology, it represents Orpheus's lyre." My voice softened with the story I knew by heart. "It's said Orpheus played such beautiful music that even the stones wept."
Miles turned his head slightly, his eyes not on the stars but on me. "That's beautiful," he murmured.
I felt the warmth of his gaze and blushed lightly, but I kept going, pointing out another cluster. "And there's Cygnus, the swan. The story goes that Zeus transformed into a swan... though, honestly, Zeus turned into a lot of things."
Miles chuckled. "Bit of a weirdo, huh?"
I laughed softly. "Yeah, just a bit." I turned to look at him, and he met me halfway, his lips brushing softly against mine. The kiss was sweet, warm, and unhurried—like the night itself, calm and endless.
When he pulled back, he whispered, "Keep going. I like hearing you talk about them."
I smiled, my fingers toying with his. "Alright. So... you see those three stars in a line? That's Orion's Belt. Orion was a hunter, and there are so many versions of his story, but my favorite is the one where he becomes a constellation because he loved the sky and the hunt so much."
Miles squeezed my hand gently. "Kinda like you with your stars."
I turned toward him, my eyes soft. "Yeah. Something like that."
He leaned in again, his lips finding mine in a kiss that lingered longer, a little deeper, making my heart flutter. The cool night air didn't matter; his warmth, his presence, was all I felt.
When we finally pulled apart, he smiled against my lips. "You were right, by the way."
"About what?"
"It is kinda cold," he admitted, pulling the edge of the blanket up and around us, cocooning us together.
I snuggled closer, resting my head back against his shoulder. "Told you," I teased softly.
"But..." he added, his voice low, "this was worth it."
I smiled, my eyes drifting back to the sky. "Yeah," I whispered. "It really is."
The stars twinkled above us, distant and eternal, but somehow, with Miles beside me, they felt closer than ever.
Miles
I lay beside her under the starlit sky, but to be honest, I barely saw the constellations. My gaze was entirely on her—the way the soft glow of the moon kissed her fair skin, the way her lips curled as she shared her stories of the stars and the myths surrounding them. The night seemed to stretch on endlessly, but it wasn't the universe I was focused on; it was her. She had a way of making everything seem infinite—like time stopped when she spoke. I could listen to her talk about astronomy forever—even if I couldn't tell Orion's Belt from the Big Dipper if my life depended on it. The way she made it all sound so magical made me feel like a kid again, learning about the universe for the first time.
Her voice was soft, a little breathy, and filled with wonder as she recounted the ancient stories. Every word that escaped her lips had this hypnotic quality, pulling me in deeper. I couldn't help but let my eyes trace every little detail of her face—her bright eyes, the way they sparkled when she got excited, the way her lips parted slightly as she spoke. It made my chest ache in the best way, like she was the only thing that mattered in the world. I couldn't stop myself from grinning as I leaned in closer, whispering, "You know, sweetheart, if you were a star, you'd outshine them all."
She flushed, the color spreading across her cheeks in a way that always made my heart skip. It didn't matter that I'd said the same line a hundred times before; it always made her blush, and every time, it felt like it was the first time. Her cheeks were rosy under the moonlight, and her smile—small and shy—was enough to make my stomach flip.
I reached out, brushing a stray strand of hair from her cheek, letting my fingers linger just a little longer than necessary. "I swear, the moon's jealous right now," I murmured. She blushed even harder at that, but I could see the playful glint in her eyes as she smiled, a tiny, bashful smile that had my heart racing.
She pointed up at the sky, her voice dipping into that dreamy, almost ethereal tone she used when she talked about things she loved. "That's Vega," she said, her finger tracing the path through the dark sky as she told me about the star's history. She spoke with such passion, like she could go on forever, but all I could think about was how perfect she looked in that moment. There she was, wrapped up beside me, her eyes dancing with stardust, her body next to mine, so perfectly in sync with everything around us.
"I'm lost, sweetheart," I whispered, feeling a surge of warmth in my chest. She turned to me, her eyes wide with curiosity, and for a second, the world seemed to disappear.
"In you," I added with a smirk, my heart pounding as I gazed into her eyes, "Not the stars."
The laugh that escaped her lips was soft, warm, and everything I'd ever wanted. It was the kind of laugh that filled the empty space between us and made everything else fade into the background. The sound of it wrapped around me, and I couldn't help but smile—this time, a little wider than usual.
And in that moment, I realized something. I was exactly where I wanted to be. I'd gotten lost in her completely, and I didn't want to find my way out.
"I think I'm falling for you more every day," I said quietly, not expecting her to say anything, just wanting her to know. Her smile softened, and her hand found mine, intertwining our fingers as we lay there together, under the vast expanse of stars.
Her head rested on my chest as we both gazed up at the sky, her breath slow and steady against me. I knew that even if the stars themselves burned out, I would still feel this—this quiet, overwhelming certainty that I would get lost in her forever.

About an hour up on the roof, I told Miles that I was too cold and wanted to go back inside. For almost the whole hour, Miles kept saying cheesy pick-up lines—one after another—that I secretly loved.
We lay in my bed, lost in time and our own thoughts. My head rested on his shoulder, his arms wrapped around me, and a thin blanket covered us from the cool air.
"I need to go soon. My parents don't know I'm here," Miles whispered to me. My eyes felt heavy, and I wasn't sure if I heard him right.
"Stay. Don't go. You could just say you spent the night with Adrian," I said softly. Funny how it would normally be Miles telling me to stay.
"I could," he replied, "but your dad doesn't really like me now." His words reminded me of the tension, and I let out a sigh, closing my eyes and moving ever so slightly closer to him.
"Yeah," I said lazily, shifting away to let him get up. He stood and began putting his shoes on, but then he let out a low groan.
"Don't look at me like that," he said.
"Like what?" I asked, confused.
"Like that," he pointed at my eyes.
I let out a soft laugh, unsure of what he meant. Suddenly, he kicked his shoes off again, climbed back on top of me, and hugged me tight, not wanting to leave.
"I'll just say I was with Adrian," he whispered in my ear.
I nodded and hugged him back. The weight of his body felt comforting until he got really heavy, making me wiggle beneath him. He slid down, resting his head on my stomach like a pillow, his leg slipping between mine.
My fingers found his soft hair, and my eyes grew even heavier. In no time, I was asleep.
Hey, don't forget to comment and vote I really do hope you liked it.
I know maybe some of you don't like Miles but let him have his moment
This chapter was going to be a lot different from what is but I'm like really tired so I just came up with this on the spot.
Also, the new Captain America movie that is coming out on the 14th ahhhh I want to see it so bad cuz I love Marvel and it has Danny in it but I can't because I'm going to Running Springs on the same day it's showing in the cinema. I would like to say that Danny was going to be my Valentine but not no more.😞
