They say that when you are dying, you see your whole entire life flash by. Though she was asleep, her body depending on an oxygen mask just for air, she felt like she was dying. Why? Because Gauri could see her entire life flash before her.

Gauri was told once by her mother when she was a little girl that when you are dying, your entire life flashes before your eyes so make sure that it is worth watching.

If only her life was worth watching.

Her life started with sorrow and she had to feel the pain of the beginning of her life as she watched her life.

She was born to her biological parents who didn't even want her because of her gender so they abandoned her on the streets with a note saying that 'take care of this disgrace'. How did she know? Her chachi told her and even showed her the note. How her heart pained seeing that note. Shankarji showed pity on the poor girl and Gaurav Sharma and Kumud Kumari Sharma adopted her. As they say, she made their marriage stronger.

It was all sunshine and rainbows till Gaurav died when she was five years old of a brain tumor. Gaurav was quite wealthy and after his death, her chachu and chachi stole his money and house making Gauri and Kumud beg to live in their own house.

Since then, her life became a living hell. Chachi and Chachu used to beat her up if she even slept past 7am. She was their servant free of charge and they made sure she suffered as much pain as possible.

Some days she and her mother were kicked out of their own house and she would have to sleep outside in the bitter cold. Sometimes it was just her mother kicked out or her kicked out. She at first was scared of the street dogs that would come near her at night but slowly her fear disappeared because she understood that like her, these street dogs were abandoned, alone, mistreated and all they just wanted was a little love.

Love...it is the only feeling in the world that has the power to oppress the rest of the feelings. Love...it is the feeling that makes you feel safe and happy.

She wanted to feel the feeling of love. Her heart yearned for love.

She met Om one day...she met him and she fell for him. Her Chachi and Chachu sold her for greed to Kaali making Om hate her and soon she escaped, met Om again, they married because of the locals and then he took her home....why did he take her home if he claimed that he hated her?

Though Om didn't love her, Gauri loved her and once again her heart begged for love back.

Mira soon came into her life and the moment she was placed in her arms, she fell in love with the baby girl and that baby girl gave her the love that her heart was deprived of as a child.

But Om wanted Gauri out of his and Mira's life after six months. Why did he let her stay for six months? Not like she was complaining but did he feel something when he saw her hold Mira in the hospital for the first time? Because if he didn't, he would have kicked her out the moment Mira was born.

She guessed that now....now this was the time to die. Yes her time on Earth was over. Now she couldn't live anymore. She was being called to heaven. Shankarji wanted her to leave Earth and join him in heaven.

She could hear her own heartbeat. Her breathing came in shallow ragged gasps. The clock ticked; her time left was limited. Oxygen was slowly being ripped and snatched from lungs leaving scars of regret. The doctor and nurses were talking to her but their voices were fading out. Guess it was time to let her soul depart from her body.

 As she struggled to breathe one more time, she began to see flashes before her closed eyes again....flashes of Rudy, Anika, the Oberois, her mother, Mira and Om...

She couldn't breathe her last just yet....she wanted to see her child grow up, give her the security, the love, the childhood she yearned for. She knew that Om would make sure Mira was at her happiest but she wanted to see her own child happy. She made a promise to her daughter that she'd be there for her hamesha aur forever, she couldn't back out on her promise.

...

The Oberois were still waiting for the doctor or at least a nurse to inform them of Gauri's condition. Mira was currently asleep in Om's arms. He and Jhanvi were the only ones awake. Jhanvi went up to Om and asked: Om, close your eyes to some sleep. I will take care of Mira.

Om: nahi it's fine. Mum, you get some sleep please.

Jhanvi: I have had some earlier. I want you to get some.

Om: Mum, I am doing just fine without sleep.

Mira stirred a bit in her sleep, adjusting her head on Om's shoulder. Om stroked the little hairs on her head, smiling at his little girl. Jhanvi smiled seeing the father and daughter duo. She then turned her head to the room where Gauri was in. Gauri had been nothing but amazing to her and her family. Even if Om never admitted it, Jhanvi could tell that Gauri had softened him a bit even though he seemed to resent her. Gauri had been the light in their dark lives.

She said a small prayer in her heart, praying for Gauri to be fine.

It was at that moment that a nurse came out to say: Gauri is awake.

Om: has she really?

The nurse nodded as she then continued to speak: we will be moving her to another room so that you can meet her.

He and Jhanvi nodded. Once the nurse went back in the room Gauri was in. Jhanvi woke up the family and told them the good news. Whilst she did that, Om was thinking about seeing Gauri in her normal avatar, not in her Ketki avatar.

Soon the Oberois were allowed to see Gauri. Om gave Mira to Rudy on the excuse he was going to check on an update for where they would stay. He wasn't going to check any update. He was feeling this massive pang of guilt....guilt because he caused Gauri so much pain, he didn't deserve her at all.

And he was going to keep up this cold avatar of his so that she could leave him and start a better life because he knew she was better off without him.

Jhanvi: Gauri, how are you feeling now?

She asked Gauri who was laying in the hospital bed.

Gauri: finally a little tired but I'm fine.

Jhanvi: we have a lot of questions but I am sure Rudy and Anika will give us those answers.

Gauri just gave a nod as she spoke to the other members of the family.

Gauri: Mira, meri jaan...

She sat up when Shivay said: arre Gauri, lie down.

Gauri: bade bhaiya, please let me sit up. I want to hold my baby.

Jhanvi: are you feeling any pain?

Gauri: I'm not.

Rudy: you better not be lying.

Gauri: I promise Rudy bhaiya. Let me hold mera baccha.

Rudy carefully kept Mira in Gauri's arms. It was a shame that she was asleep but when she was in her mother's embrace, her eyes fluttered open. Most babies when they wake up would normally cry but knowing that she was in her mother's arms, she didn't cry. She instead gave a cute toothless smile....a smile so pure that it warmed Gauri's heart up.

Gauri: hi Mira.

Mira looked at her mother, still smiling. How she was grateful that her mother was no longer in that Ketki avatar. 

Gauri: mummy will never leave you again. 

Mira blabbered something making Gauri say: haan baba, I promise that I will never ever pretend to be someone else again. 

Her eyes were teary as she kissed her daughter's forehead and then both her cheeks. Mira once again blabbered something else.

Gauri: I love you too baby. 

A tear rolled down her cheek. With her tiny hand, Mira wiped the tear of her mother's cheek making Gauri kiss her forehead once more. 

It was at that moment that Om entered the room. Jhanvi saw her son and then said: chalo everyone, let's leave Om, Gauri and Mira alone for a minute or so.

The rest of the Oberois left leaving the small family of three. Gauri looked at Om and he looked back at her. His heart told him to speak to her nicely and softly but his head told him to be heartless so that she could leave him. 

That little voice in his head, that little devil in his head screamed at him that he was not worthy of love, he was not worthy of this pure angel that was in front of him, this angel in front of him was too good for him. 

Om: give me Mira back please. 

Gauri: please let me be with Mira.

Om: no, you are feeling pain. Let me hold Mira else your pain will get worse.

Gauri kissed Mira's forehead before giving Mira to Om. He sat on a chair next to her bed, smiling at Mira. Gauri looked at Om as she saw him giving small kisses to Mira and talking to her cutely. She noticed that his tone was cold but his words were caring....so he said caring words in a cold bitter tone. 

Gauri in mind: what's going on Omkaraji? Sometimes you can be so complicated and how did you know about the aches I am experiencing? Maybe you may know of my physical pain, but my emotionally pain? 

Mira tried to go to Gauri. 

Om: arre Mira, mama is feeling some pain.

Mira: filwjirw oerjojrewlr.

Om: kya?

Gauri: she wants a hug from me. 

He was going to protest but he decided to let Gauri give Mira a hug. Once Gauri gave Mira a hug, she gave her back to Om then his entire attention went back to Mira. 

She watched the two. She gave a smile seeing the two. Om was a softie with Mira and with her, well she didn't know. He was acting cold like he was before but his words were caring and she didn't understand.

...

Om had to take Mira to change her diaper. When he left, Rudy went to Gauri and said: never scare us again.

Gauri: I won't.

Rudy: did Om say anything I need to tell him off for?

Gauri: nahi Rudy bhaiya but his tone was cold yet he said caring words.

Rudy: really?

She nodded.

Rudy: what goes on in his mind? 

Gauri: I don't know but I hope he doesn't tell me to leave this family, him and Mira again.

Rudy: and if he does, you firmly tell him no. 

Gauri just looked at him. She didn't know what to say so Rudy kept talking and from his words, she could tell that this was yet another plan waiting to fail or succeed or fail.
