Chapter Two

Several weeks had passed since Castiel's first encounter with Dean. At the end of each day Dean would return to his house, while Castiel would report back to his Superior. From what Castiel had learned about Dean's family he could tell that Dean supported them. He knew Dean worked at a auto-body shop several days a week while his father was off on business trips.
Although Castiel found that rather odd he didn't press Dean for details.

When the last bell rang on a Friday afternoon Castiel was preparing himself to go to his Superior when he noticed Dean walking to his car. Castiel bit his lip, he supposed the report could wait a while longer. After taking a glance around he strode across the parking lot and came up behind his Ward.

"Hello, Dean,"

Dean started slightly and turned around. "Goddamn, Cas, I thought we talked about this!"

Castiel frowned. Yes, he had done many things that caused Dean to become irritated, Castiel just had trouble remembering what exactly those things were.

Dean rolled his eyes. "Never mind Cas, just don't do that,"

Castiel glanced up at Dean confused. "Do what, Dean?"

Dean just gave him a look and shook his head. Castiel stood there, still uncertain about what had happened and Dean opened the door of his Impala.

"Dude, you coming or what?" Dean asked.

"Where are we going Dean?"

"My place," Dean answered getting into the car, revving the engine.

Castiel felt a wave of excitement wash over him. He hadn't been to Dean's house before, and he was becoming rather intrigued about Dean's life. Cas got into the car and glanced at Dean. Dean smirked at him and Castiel felt an odd feeling. Nervousness. Something he rarely felt before.

"I'd love to stare passionately into your eyes all day Cas, but I gotta get home," Dean said chuckling to himself.

Castiel noticed warmth rising to his cheeks. Was he blushing? What is wrong with me today? He shifted in his seat uncomfortably as they pulled out of the parking lot. Dean shoved a cassette tape into the radio and loud rock music started blaring out.

Cas sighed and looked out the window. "Do we have to listen to this, Dean,"

"Next time you drive, then you can pick the music," Dean replied, turning the music up even louder.

Castiel shook his head. He didn't even know how to drive, he had no use of it.
Eventually they pulled into the driveway of Dean's small house. A pickup truck was parked in the open garage. Dean sighed, slamming the Impala door shut as he got out.

Castiel followed, looking at his friend. "Dean? Is something the matter?"

"Nothing, it's just that my dad's home," Dean muttered irritably.

Castiel said nothing, assuming that Dean's relationship with his father was not a good one. Dean led Cas into the house and Cas pulled his trench coat around him. In the kitchen he saw a brown-haired boy sitting at a table doing homework. It must be Dean's brother.

The boy looked up at them. "Hey Dean,"

"Hey, Sammy," Dean said fondly, ruffling Sam's hair.

Sam jerked away and glared at Dean. "It's Sam!"

Dean laughed and looked at Castiel and Cas gave him a small smile in return. Cas watched Sam work. Gabriel would like him, Castiel thought. Lucifer might as well.

He shook his head, not knowing where those thoughts came from. Gabriel and Lucifer had been his closest brothers. That is until Lucifer was exiled from their family and lost his heavenly powers. And Gabriel he had lost track of, he knew his younger brother had become fond of candy and tricking people.

Dean motioned to follow him into the living room. Cas saw a man leaning over a desk piled with papers and books. Pinned on the wall he noticed newspaper clippings and maps. He frowned, wondering what they were for.

The man looked up at Dean and sighed. "Dean,"

Dean looked down, shifting his weight. "Dad, this is my friend Cas,"

Dean put his hand on Castiel's shoulder. Cas felt his heart race and he glanced at Dean. He definitely hadn't felt this before.

The man stepped out from behind his desk and held out his hand. "I'm John,"

Castiel looked at the outstretched hand, then up at John. He blinked and glanced at Dean for help. Dean rolled his eyes. He nudged Cas slightly and looked at his father. Castiel took John's hand and gingerly shook it. John gave him a weird look and went back to his books.

Castiel followed Dean up the stairs and into Dean's bedroom. As soon as Dean shut the door he turned and looked at Cas.

"What the hell was that?"

"I don't understand," Cas looked at Dean curiously.

"You started acting all weird, Cas, as soon as I touched you..." Dean started.

Castiel stopped hearing Dean's words. What Dean said was right. He had started to act strange. Cas thought of everything he felt on the car ride over. He was friends with Dean, like he was supposed to be, but he couldn't help but think it was something more.

No, you can't think that way, you don't want to end up like Lucifer, Cas scolded himself. But would being like Lucifer be so bad?

Castiel sighed, running his hand through his hair. Pushing the thought to the back of his mind he turned his attention back to Dean.

"...watch what you say around Dad," Dean said, he had obviously been telling Cas something and he wasn't paying attention.

Dean pulled his shirt over his head, revealing a muscular and well toned torso. Castiel's eyes widened slightly and he felt a blush creep onto his cheeks. Dean caught his stare and smirked at him. He seemed to take his time as he rummaged through his dresser drawer, looking at Cas every few seconds.

Dean finally found the shirt he was looking for and walked out of the room, brushing Cas' hand lightly as he passed.

"Be right back, don't miss me too much," Dean said from the hallway before closing the door again.

Castiel paced across the room, pulling on his hair. What was that?  Castiel could tell that Dean was pleased he caught Cas looking at him. But why would he be? Certainly he didn't feel the same way- wait what!

Cas shook his head. He didn't feel anything for Dean Winchester. He couldn't, it was against his work. And not to mention they were both males, that wouldn't settle with his family.

Don't deny it, a smaller voice said in a small part of his mind. You know perfectly well what you're feeling, attraction, you like Dean Winchester.
