San Ignacio

Valerie sat on the porch of her house with Sheldon standing beside her, leaning against the wall. The siblings had spoken to each other after reading the contents of the final letter.

Valerie shed a river of tears when Sheldon recounted the story from his perspective. He did not fail to mention his guilt and the gnawing grief inside of him. He blamed himself for countless years, believing his act of hugging that man and asking for help was the reason why he took the fall for his father's death.

Valerie, oblivious to everything, felt heartbroken. The things inside the letter pertaining to her, about to be sold and married off multiple times brought shivers down her spine. If 247 (Benjie Tobias) was never around, what could have happened? If her mother never found the courage to kill their father, what kind of life would she have lived? If 247 had never taken the fall, her mother would have surely gone to prison, and she, along with Sheldon, would have become an orphan.

Everything was messed up, but if Valerie could thank 247 for something, it would be for the peace his letters gave to her brother.

If Sheldon never found those letters, her mother would have died without her son beside her, hell, Sheldon would probably have chosen not to attend her funeral. Her brother would've likely lived the rest of his life bound in regret and hate.

But most importantly, Valerie found her mother's corpse with a smile on her face and a letter on her chest. A letter that her hand seems to have held on to, until her final breath.

Maybe her mother died with not only her children's love as a parting gift from this world. She also found the words I love you addressed to her, in the sweetest, most terrifying but selfless way possible. Valerie glanced at her husband and her grandchildren., then smiled. 247, he would probably be a person meant to stay in their family's story for all eternity, she mused.
