Chapter Ten

Dray watched as Haillie packed the last few things in her suitcase. Throwing a shirt in her bag, she looked up at Dray and looked back down.

"When are you leaving again?" Dray asked.

Haillie looked at the clock. 7:50pm.

"In ten minutes." Haillie answered.

She zipped her bag and put it near the door. Hesitating for a second, she sat down next to Dray. She hugged him.

"Will you stay here?" She asked.

"Yeah... I have a job and... I need to take care of mum. Ron can't do that." Dray said, "Call me every single day, promise?"'

"Promise." Haillie replied.

A tear fell down her cheek as she looked at her twin. Hermione had always told her about Fred and George, they were Ron's brothers. Fred had died and George couldn't bear it. Haillie knew how he felt. She didn't want to leave Dray. It was like leaving a part of herself behind. But of course, Dray couldn't come with her. He probably wouldn't want to.

Dray wiped away the tears that flowed continuously out of her icy eyes.

"I don't ever want to see you crying." He whispered.

Haillie managed a small smile and hugged him again tightly, it was probably uncomfortable for him as Haillie was hugging him from the side but he didn't complain. He hugged her back.

"Here," Dray said, wiping away her tears, he went into tue cupboard and came back with a hoody, "Take it and give it to me when we next meet."

Haillie smiled and took the hoddy, pulling it on, even though she looked weird. Both went downstairs and Hermione and Ron were sat on the sofa

"Mum," Haillie whispered, "I'm leaving."

Hermione turned around and Haillie could see she was crying. Hermione came up to her and hugged her.

"Please-" Hermione started but Haillie pulled back and shook her head.

"I won't live here and see both of you together. You belong to my dad. You are Draco's not Ron's... Bye mum." Hailie said and walked a few paces away.

"Wait," Dray said, hugging her.

He hugged her tight and whispered in her ear.

"Are you going to live with Draco?" He whispered, making sure Hermione couldn't listen.

"How do-?" Haillie said but Dray interrupted her.

"You're my sister. My twin. You can't keep secrets from me. If he kicks you out or hurts you... I'll kill him." Dray whispered menacingly.

Haillie pulled back and shook her head at him.

"He won't." She said and Hermione and Ron looked confused.

Haillie waved once and smiled before shutting her eyes and apparating. She walked into the ice cream shop to find Draco already sat at a table. He stared at the napkins in front of him, a pen in his hand.

"Hi." Haillie said, moving closer.

Draco hastily pocketed the napkin and stood up.

"Hey." He said and took her bags, "Ready to go?"

Haillie nodded once, nervously.

"It's an apartment. Not too fancy but I survived." Draco said, holding out a hand.

Haillie took his hand and they disapparated to a dark and gloomy street. The apartments were brown and the grass was not green.

"It's a bit better from the inside." Draco said, fitting the key in the lock.

He opened the door and took her suitcase in. Haillie walked in and was immediately in a living room, with a small TV and a sofa. There was a kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom.

Draco led her to her bedroom and Haillie saw that it was a dark green and white colour. There was a single bed and a dresser in front of it.

"You don't have to." Draco said, staring at her.

"Don't have to what?" Haillie asked.

"Stay here." Draco looked down.

"Do you want me here?"

Draco looked back up and frowned.

"Of course I do. I haven't seen you in... Eleven years." Draco said, "But... I'll make you some tea. Make yourself comfortable."

"I prefer coffee." Haillie said.

"Wasn't really a tea person myself." Draco chuckled.

"Two sugars and milk." Haillie said, smiling.

"You're like me. I have two sugars and milk too," Draco said and walked out.

Haillie sat on the edge of her bed and looked outside. It seemed darker in this part of the city. Depressing. Lonely. She knew she had to remind Draco about how much he loved Hermione. And the only way to do that would be to get him talking.

"Haillie!" Draco called.

Haillie stood up and went out of her room. Two cups of coffee lay on the table and Draco sat on the sofa, waving her in. Haillie sat opposite him and took her coffee mug.

"Is this where you have been living?" Haillie asked, looking around at the peeling paint on the walls.

"Yeah I had money but-"

"What is that?" Haillie asked.

Getting up and walking towards the TV she saw that on top of it were cigarettes and a lighter. She held them up disapprovingly.

"Haillie, I've... I've been stressed." Draco sighed and took them from her, pocketing them.

"Why?"

They stared at each other and after a few minutes Draco gave up and sighed, leaning back.

"You know why." Draco said.

"Do you still love her?" Haillie whispered.

"Haillie, listen to me. She is happy and I won't interfere with her life anymore. I made it hell for her. She loves Ron. She said so herself when I punched him. She doesn't want me. And... And you shouldnt even be here. You should be with your mother. She needs you." Draco said, sitting up straight and looking at Haillie in the eye.

"You didn't answer my question." Haillie stated, raising her eyebrows, "Do you or do you not love her?"

"Haillie, that-"

"Do you not care about her at all? Do you not care that she sleeps with Ron. That... she... crys for you. That she nearly killed herself for you? Do you hate her? Do you regret loving her? Do you regret Dray and I?" Haillie stared straight at him, "Do you hate me?"

"I don't hate you. I don't regret loving her. She was my life. My everything. But then she said she loved Ron. Not me. Ron. She's better off with him." Draco said, drinking his coffee, "To be honest, you are better off without me."

"Don't say that." Haillie whispered.

Her phone beeped twice. She had a text from Dray. It read:

"Are you with him? Are you okay? I miss you already. Mum and Ron have set a date for their wedding. It's in one week. It's not a huge event, there just going to make it official and then have a honeymoon, but mum want's you to be there. Hope I see you soon. Bye. Love Dray x"

"One week?" Haillie muttered making Draco look up.

"What one week?" Draco asked.

"Mum's wedding..."

Draco's eyebrows joined together and he clenched his jaw and abruptly stood up. Haillie's eyes never left him.

"Hurts, doesn't it?" She asked.

Draco stared at the wall opposite him, avoiding eye contact.

"It's late. Go to sleep and I'll talk to you in the morning."

Draco walked to his room, lighting a cigarette on the way.

"I wish you would listen to me. Accept that you still love her. Tell me it hurts you that she's with another man." Haillie said desperately.

Draco slammed the door shut and Haillie shook her head at her fathers stubborness. Getting up, she washed the cups and went into her room, lying on her bed after changing her clothes.

Draco's POV

Inhaling the toxic fumes into his lungs he looked outside the window at nothing in particular. He tried to open the window but it got jammed. He groaned and hit it, his patience running thin.

Finally he got the window opened and let the ash from his ciggarette flow away into the night. He wished his memories were as easy to get rid of as a ciggarettes ash.

He took a long draw from his ciggarette and thrower it outside when it finished.

He looked back to his darkened room and eyed the drawer. He walked towards it quickly and opened it. Moving about different pieces of clothing he became frustrated easily when he couldn't find it.

Was it even there? He had kept it there since he moved into the apartment but he had never looked at it. Now he wanted it. He flung clothing out of the drawer and found it.

There it lay. A small heart shaped frame supporting a picture of the most beautiful girl, to Draco at least. The girl glanced up from her brown hair that hung past her breasts. Shyly she smiled and looked down.

Draco smiled and touched her face. Closing the drawer, he went back to the window and laid the frame there, hastily lighting another cigarette.

He watched the girl in the picture and he smoked the cigarette. Both destroying his bodily organs: his heart and lungs. Soon nothing would remain.

He watched Hermione Granger's picture and smoked, wishing he was dead rather than in pain.

The pain was almost to much to bear.

Almost.

"Hermione." He let out a strangled cry.

The silence killed him. Burning deep within him. The silence made it's mark. No one was there for him but... He had Haillie...

He wanted Hermione.

Getting a piece of parchment, he wrote, not thinking about what he wrote. He just spilled his feelings onto the paper. He wrote on the paper and scrunched it up again and again. Writing things like:

I love you.

Wish you had chosen me.

Why him?

Do you think about me?

And much more. Sometimes long and upsetting other times short and questioning.

Draco scrunched the papers up and threw them away. Getting a new parchment, he wrote:

"Hermione,

I love you and miss you. I won't ever be with any other girl unless it's you. If I am with any girl I'll be thinking about you.

Why are we so stubborn?

Do you hate me?

I would understand if you did. It's been a long time.

Do you even remember what I look like?

I remember your lovely luscious brown curly hair and chocolate brown eyes that I melt into at the first sight.

How I wished I could turn back time and did things differently.

Remember the kisses in the common room? They feel like a million years away.

Times moving on without me.

Remember when we sneaked around? Remember our first kiss? You said I tasted like apples.

I loved you so much.

And I still love you.

And I will love you as long as I live.

But we can't be together.

You deserve someone better than me.

I wish you the best marriage, I hope you love Ron and I hope he won't hurt you.

I love you.

Yours forever, even if you don't know it, Draco"

Draco could feel his heart breaking. Literally. Falling into a million pieces. He tied the letter to his owl and after a few moments of hesitation, he sent it flying off into the air.

He slid down onto the floor, reaching for another cigarette. He smoked quickly, feeling himself relax.
