Chapter Nine
The alarm clock ringed in Haillie's ear. Putting it on snooze, she turned around to see Dray lying on the bed next to her.
Haillie and Dray have always shared a room, since they were small. They could have a separate room but chose not to. They were really close, being twins and all.
The room was big and had a walk in cupboard. There were two single beds, one green and the other red. Dray's was green (he was in Slytherin) and Haillie's was red (she was proud to be in Gryffindor.)
The alarm clock rang again and Dray groaned something.
"What?" Haillie said tiredly.
"Put the freaking clock off!" Dray shouted, throwing a pillow at her.
Haillie turned around and switched the clock off. She finally got out of bed after flinging the pillow back to Dray.
"What time did you get home last night?" Haillie asked, brushing her hair.
"Late. You had an owl. It's in the drawer." Dray said, gesturing the drawer with his eyes closed.
"Did you... Um... Did you look at my letter?" Haillie asked.
She didn't want him knowing it was from their father. Dray wouldn't like that and Draco had told her not go tell anyone they met. Dray looked up at her, curiously.
"Keeping secrets from me?" He asked, he tried not to sound hurt.
"No... Just... It's a personal letter thats all." Haillie said.
Dray's only reply was "hmm." and he went back into his covers. Haillie opened the drawers and found the letter. Checking to see if Dray was looking, he wasn't, she opened the letter. It read:
"Haillie
I love you too. And I can't wait to meet you. Do you want to meet at Diagon Alley, the ice cream shop at 2 pm?
Please do not tell anyone you are talking to me.
Haillie Malfoy sounds great.
D.M"
Haillie checked the time. 1:30 pm. She questioned herself why had she woken up so late? Usually she would be up early and have coffee.
"What are you doing today?" Dray asked her, sitting up in bed.
"Going out. You?" Haillie took a towel and some clothes out of the cupboard.
Dray shrugged when she looked over at him. Haillie went into the bathroom, glad that her mum wasn't there. She quickly had a shower, thinking about meeting her father. Drying herself off and pulling her clothes on, she walked out.
She dried her hair quickly, using her wand, grabbed her phone and went downstairs into the kitchen. Hermione and Ron were discussing something at the breakfast table. Hermione looked up as Haillie walked in. Everything went quiet. Haillie ignored them.
Awkward.
Haillie grabbed an apple from the bowl of fruit and she poured in some milk. She downed the milk, standing up and made to walk out of the kitchen with two pairs of eyes on her back.
"Haillie." Hermione said, making her stop mid bite of her apple.
Haillie slowly turned around and didn't look in her eyes.
"Where are you going?" Hermione asked, glancing at Ron who looked down at the table.
"Out." Haillie said.
"Where?"
"I don't see why I have to tell you."
Hermione and Haillie stared at each other. The tension as thick as a cloud on top of them. Haillie clicked her fingers and disapparated as Hermione shouted "Wait!"
Haillie apparated to a narrow, dirty and smelly alleyway with black bags full of rubbish discarded everywhere. She walked out of the alleyway and into the leaky cauldron.
Finally she emerged in Diagon Alley. It wasn't busy as most people would be at work or school. She walked down the alleyway, looking into the deserted shops, entering the ice cream shop.
Looking around, she saw that Draco wasn't there yet. She took a table at the end of the shop in the corner and waited.
They asked her for any ice cream but she declined every time. Nervousness creeped up on her. She wondered if he would actually come. Would he just leave her here? Somehow she didn't think he would do that.
After half an hour, Haillie started to get impatient. She tapped her nails on the table, frowning. Then her phone rang.
"Hello?" She answered, seeing it was an unknown number.
Shouting and loud noises issues on the phone. She couldn't make out the words.
"Haillie?" It was Draco.
"Dad. Where are you? Are you okay? Who's shouting?" Haillie asked, worried.
"I'm fine. I'll be there in five. Sorry to keep you waiting, darling." He said, "I'll be right there. I love you. Bye."
He hung up before Haillie got say bye. She wondered who was shouting and why. After a couple of minutes, Draco walked in the shop. He wore a black thin top and a unbuttoned light blue shirt. His jeans hung low on his waist. His face instantly lit up at the sight of Haillie.
Haillie stood up, nervously, straightening her top. Draco engulfed her in a fatherly hug.
"Dad." Haillie whispered, smelling his apple scent.
Both sat down and Draco couldn't stop smiling. He caught her wrist and smiled even more at the bracelet she wore.
"You wore it." He stated.
"Of course I did... Dad, who was shouting?" Haillie asked.
Draco frowned and leaned back.
"That doesn't matter. How is Dray? And your mother... Is she okay?" Draco asked.
"Dad. You..." Haillie looked around, frustrated as she thought of Ron and Hermione, "Do you love her?"
"Haillie, it's complicated and-"
"Do you love her or not?" Haillie asked.
Draco stared at her, his mouth shut. Haillie knew he was stubborn. Just like Dray.
"She's getting married to Ron." Haillie said, watching him carefully.
Draco's eyes widened and he looked down, his eyebrows furrowing together. He looked back up and his face was straight.
"Whatever makes her happy." Draco said.
Haillie let out a moan and banged the table with her hand. She leaned back and looked up at the ceiling then back to him.
"You know this isn't right! You and Mum are meant to be together!" Haillie restrained herself from yelling.
"Haillie, you'll understand when you are older. We were in love but... Now she hates me."
"If she hated you, she wouldn't cry over your picture. She wouldn't kill herself for you."
"She wouldn't marry the Weasel if she loved me." Draco stated boldly.
"The weasel?" Haillie frowned, "Ron?"
Draco sighed and nodded.
"Dad, where do you live?" Haillie asked, "Do you live alone?"
"Yes I do."
"I want to live with you," Haillie said, she added before Draco could speak, "Dad, I haven't had a father since I was small. Please, let me live with you."
Draco stared at her for a few minutes before shaking his head and frowning.
"What will you tell your mother?" He asked.
"I'll sort that out. Please just let me live with you." Haillie asked, her mouth turning down, "Please, daddy?"
Draco smiled at the 'Daddy' bit.
"Fine, just don't tell your mother you're living with me." Draco said and Haillie nodded, "Meet me back here in two days at 8pm."
"Okay, dad." Haillie smiled, "Thank you."
"I really have to go now." Draco said.
He got up and so did Haillie. Deco hugged her and smiled before leaving. Haillie decided to go home, though she knew she would get questioned by her mother.
She apparated home and walked in the front door, closing the door carefully behind her.
"Haillie? Come in here for a second." Hermione said from the living room.
Haillie cursed in her head and walked in to see Dray sitting in a sofa and Hermione and Ron sat next to each other. Haillie sat next to Dray, who moved up for her.
"As you already know," Hermione said looking at Dray and Haillie, "Ron and I are getting married."
Haillie said a short 'Hmph' which Hermione ignored.
"Your father left you and I suggest you get over him. Haillie you're not a child, you should understand." Hermione said, looking straight at Haillie, "He's not coming back."
"Look me in the eye and tell me you don't love him." Haillie said, standing up.
"Haillie stop it." Hermione stood up too, "Don't make a fool of yourself."
Haillie walked towards her mother.
"You probably think about him everyday. You don't love Ron! You love Draco! My father! TELL ME YOU DON'T LOVE HIM!" Haillie screamed.
"You stupid girl! Get out!" It was Ron who said that. He grabbed her arm.
Haillie stared at him. The man who had never really acted like a father. Who just wanted her Mother not Haillie and Dray.
They stared at each other and Ron grimaced before tightening his grip on her arm. Hermione widened her eyes but didn't say anything. Haillie tried not to show how much he was hurting her. He tightened his grip and Haillie let out a grunt of pain.
"Get your hands off of her." Dray said, moving to stand next to Haillie.
"The mouse can roar?" Ron said mockingly, "What if I don't?"
Dray raised one eyebrow and looked towards his mother. She was staring at the ground.
"Mother my ass! If you were our mother you would stop this!" Dray shouted.
Ron chuckled Dray turned his gaze back to him ad Haillie let out another grunt of pain, trying to not let the pain get to her. Dray shook his head before ramming into Ron. Both fell onto the ground and Dray sat on him, nearly punching him.
Hermione gasped as the scene was so familiar. She could see Draco's angry side in Dray. He was so much like his father.
"Stop it, Dray. I am your mother. I gave birth to both of you." Hermione muttered.
Dray hesitated but got off of Ron, who grimaced and got up. Dray went to stand beside his sister, motioning to go upstairs.
"Wait, Dray," Haillie looked back at Hermione, "I'm leaving this house and you can't stop me."
"Haillie... Please. Don't leave me." Hermione pleaded.
"No matter what I say to you... You're still my mother. But he," Haillie pointed at Ron, "Can never be my father. I'm leaving but I'll call you everyday. I promise."
Hermione shook her head angrily.
"You're going to leave me just like... Like Dr-... Like..." Hermione trailed off, her heart hurting just thinking about him.
"Draco. Like Draco? Mum you any say his name without hurting. It's called true love. Why can't you see that?" Haillie said, "I'm leaving in two days."
Haillie walked out and Dray was right behind her. They both went up to their room and Dray closed the door behind him.
"Are you going without me?" Dray asked.
Haillie turned to look at him.
"I just need some alone time." Haillie said.
"We've been together from the day we were born... I'll come with you."
"No. Please, Dray. I need time and-"
"It's okay. Just go to sleep. Forget everything." Dray said.
Haillie changed her clothes in the cupboard and climbed into bed. When Dray had come out of the cupboard he climbed into bed.
"Dray?" Haillie whispered into the dark.
"Mm?" Dray's voice came.
"I don't want them to get married."
Dray sighed and after a few moments he replied.
"If it makes her happy then leave it... Just sleep right now." Dray said, his tone indicating finality.
Haillie turned around, her eyes wide open. One though in her head...
She would get Draco and Hermione together again.
