This is Chapter 17 but while adjusting the Story for Rikara ( initially written for Ashlok) I messed up the Order so Chapter 15 and 16 are the same :O
Chapter 17 Mothers Love
"Maji Thank you for taking care of me the other Night." Gauri said while washing the dishes after their heavy breakfast. Omkara and Rudra had already left for an important meeting and Bhavya was upstairs, teaching Kavya some Math. It was a pleasant atmosphere in the entire house and everyone seemed happier.
Jhanvi smiled at Gauri and stroke her Cheek softly. She loved Gauri just as much as her Daughter Anika. Both were kind hearted and beautiful from inside.
"I must thank you. Your speech about standing up for myself else I would lose everyone made me realize that my life lies in my own hands. I took the opportunity and I pray to god I will succeed on my way to freedom. But is it wrong to still believe he will be the man again I loved once? Is it wrong to pray to God to give me back my Husband?" Jhanvi tried hard hiding her tears but Gauri simply wiped them away. She knew that feeling, didn't she hoped for the same way after Om hurt her time and time again, maybe not physically but emotionally.
"It is not wrong. After all you loved him one and I am sure he once loved you...but someday He changed...Maybe he can become the man he was. Like Omkara. First he hated everyone, he couldn't trust anyone and everything but I changed him.By helping him becoming the man he once was, I fixed the broken pieces of his heart and look at us now.Maybe you too can fix Baba?"
"Don't I look weak if I forgive him one day?"
Gauri smiled and hugged her. "No" She started. "It makes you look even stronger because only God is the one who can judge people for their choices. Who are we to interfere? But trust me Maji very soon Papaji will realize his mistake and will be the way he was before. I have full faith that once we have a plan how to change him we will be successful!" Jhanvi nodded, hoping that she was right and kissed her forehead. Gauri smiled at her and turned to drink some juice when she felt dizzy.
She grabbed the kitchen counter to prevent herself from falling, causing some of the plates to fall down.
"Ri!" Jhanvi rushed to her side and steadied her. " Is everything alright?" Slowly directing Gauri to the couch in the living room where she helped her lying down.
"Haan.I am completely fine just felt a bit dizzy. Maybe a side effect of the medication the doctor described me the last time. He informed me that my body is a bit too weak for a pregnancy this far." She smiled faintly and caressed her abdomen. She didn't take his words serious back then but if she was honest for a minute she had been frightened to death. It was not easy to carry around a heavy baby inside your womb and still be as active as an athlete, she thought.
"He wanted you to reconsider abortion hain na?" Jhanvi asked; watching Gauri wincing in pain. She looked up at her mother in law and nodded. "I got pregnant after a lot of difficulties I can't tell you about Maji...How can I kill an innocent soul? How can I reject God's gift? Wouldn't you have done the same? Wouldn't you to have kept the baby despite everything?" Tears escaped her eyes and her Mother in Law silently hugged her. It must have been hard for Gauri bearing all this alone. I bet she hasn't told Om either, Jhanvi thought and caressed her hair. She wanted to ensure her she was always by her side.
"What did the doctor say after you told him you wouldn't abort the baby?"
"Well he said there is the risk that during childbirth I could die- so it would be either me or the baby. I tell you that so you will tell Omkara to choose the baby! Because I know for sure he would choose me over the baby...would he have known about this risk he would have asked me to abort the minute I told him I was expecting. He wouldn't do it because he doesn't like the idea of having a baby it is just that he loves me more and thinks there are many other ways to have a baby but I wanted something from both of us. The fruit of our Love. Tell me Maji...Have I done the right thing? I mean I am a mother, right? How can I hurt my child to save myself? How could I live while he would die?" Gauri now wiped away her own tears and Jhanvi hugged her once again, comforting her.
"I can understand you perfectly dearest and I will respect your choice but remember one thing: God is always with you! He will let you live to hold your baby in your arms. After everything you have been through you deserve happiness dearest." Jhanvi kissed her forehead.
"Mothers Love..." Gauri sighed and smiled at Jhanvi despite her fear of dying; leaving her baby and Omkara alone. She couldn't bear the thought of the possibility that she could die while giving birth to her baby. She believed in God and she knew he would let her be with her family always.
"Mothers Love can't be explained nor replaced."
"That is true." a male voice said and both Gauri and Jhanvi turned around.
"A Mothers Love is selfless, pure and warm. It can't be explained nor be replaced. Mothers Love is unique she knows us before we do, she loves us before she knows us." Om said and approached the two most important women in his life. In his hands he had two bags- one with Pani Puri inside and the other one with Almond Kheer for his Mother.
I hope he didn't listen to our conversation' Gauri prayed in silence and greeted her husband with a soft hello. He nodded into her direction, gave her a lingering kiss and the Pani Puri before proceeding to his mother. Who was too shocked to react at his sudden behavior.
What got into him?' Jhanvi thought and tried to smile at her youngest son.
Omkara made her sit and kneeled down in front of her before laying his head on her lap causing Jhanvi to feel her eyes getting moist and softly drove her finger through his thick hair.
"Mom can you forgive me for having been the worst son ever? Can you forgive me for treating you like a stranger, an outsider? For disrespecting you? Can you? Please say you can...I need my Mom...I want her back in my life..." Omkara's tears started to flow and his Mother smiled despite her pain seeing her little baby bear crying; begging for her forgiveness.
" Oh my baby...I forgave you the minute you did a mistake. Mothers Love is like that."
"It is unconditional, I know. A love that doesn't have need explanation. "He whispered and looked at Gauri; suddenly remembering her words she once said.
"Let's just start afresh! I will give you the place you deserve!" He kissed her hands and she kissed his forehead. Never had he known how easy it was to get his mother back and his mother never knew how easy it was to get her son back.
Just a few words were needed to mend their relationship. That and a tiny little wife sitting beside them. If it hadn't been for Gauri, Omkara would have never known the truth! Jhanvi thought with a smile. She thanked God for giving her back her son. For finally seeing love in his eyes after all those years.
They didn't need any promises or gestures to seal the bond of mother and son yet again, because it has always been there- hidden under a mask of misunderstanding, mistrust and hate.
"Gauri?" His Mother looked up and Om smiled at his wife. She came closer and sat down beside Jhanvi, who took her hands and placed them in Omkara's.
"Please always stay together. Always love each other and please forgive him if he does something wrong, never leave his side. Stay with him through Thick and Thin and never let him feel any pain." Gauri nodded seriously and kissed Jhanvi's Cheeks.
"Om..." Now Anjali turned towards Om again who looked at her anxiously.
"Please always keep her Happy, don't make her cry and cherish her and your love forever. Never hurt her, Trust her, love her, understand her and Never abuse her, be with her always and even if you are right and she is wrong say it with love. Thekken?" Om too nodded and placed a peck on Gauri's lips to seal his promise. Causing her to blush to a new shade of red. He should feel a bit of shame to kiss her incfront of his mother.
"Always and Beyond Eternity" He whispered into her Hear making her smile even brighter.
Jhanvi smiled and blessed her Son before he left for Office again.
" He finally forgave me Gauri...My Son...I got my Son back, My Baby! He came back but why? And how? Why did he change so suddenly?"
Gauri decided to tell her Mother in law the ugly truth. She should know why Omkara finally returned to her.
"He saw Father in Law beating you for keeping us together. He was shattered and cried the whole night. We made some plans to slowly expose Father in Law but we will need some more Time and your help!" Gauri looked at the changes in her Mother in Laws facial expressions. She saw shock, pain and fear.
" My poor Baby...had to see that? The ugly truth? God...He must be sad, so broken and...must feel guilty...I will talk to him later. That will be good for both of us...right? I mean I know he will listen, he always does." Jhanvi decided and she almost looked like a warrior preparing himself for battle.
She looked so brave and was the much needed support of Gauri.
