Chapter 3: Departure
---------------
Amy had everything she owed packed and ready for the airport; as much as she is worried about what Professor Hernandez actually wants from her, she is looking forward for something to do and getting out of her boring old city.
The place she is moving to is next to a beach and a large field of flowers. Once every year, they have a star gazing festival and turn off all the city lights. Obliviously the most important parts of the city remain on.
The island itself is a short distance away from a floating island that appeared two hundred years ago. She asked Professor Hernandez about it.
"Oh, that? We don't have permission from the native to 'snoop around' as he puts it.", he said.
"There's only one?", she asked.
She bit her lip in worry and pity.
"Yeah, sad thing is, he is the last of his kind. After him, I don't know who is going to watch over the island and all its mysteries.", he lamented.
"You couldn't get a look at it at all?", she questioned.
Curious as she was, it was understandable.
"No, any drone or attempt to look closely was met with hostility, but that is not why you are going, so lightly up! Enjoy your self while we're stuck here.", he waved her off cheerfully.
She giggled a bit and smiled.
"Sure thing, Boss!", she confirmed.
"Hey, I told you-", he started.
He had to hand up.
---------
Here she is at the air port. The place she is suppose to live in is a compound near the excavation site where the Professors team have discovered some ancient sea animal fossils.
She instantly saw the large sign with her name on it. She walked to it and saw a Badger with a twisted snarl on her face. She was looking at a lavender beaver.
"Watch where you're going!", she shouts.
"No, you watch where you're going!", the beaver shouts back.
Before a fight breaks out, Amy walks up to the Badger.
"Hi, I'm Amy Rose! You were looking for me?", she asks.
The Badger looks at her with suspension in her eyes. She puts the sign down and takes a photo out of her pocket.
"Hm...it sure does look like you....but how do you know you are really you?", she says intensely.
She blinks, confused and tilts her head.
"Professor Hernandez said the one picking me up was named Sticks. Said she was a very interesting and courageous girl. I don't know about you, but how do I know you are her?", she replies with a polite smile.
Sticks thinks for a moment and spirals. She suddenly smells some thing good and calms down.
Amy quietly hides her calming spices. She smiles brightly at the badger and holds out her hand.
"Let's do that again. Hi! I am Amy Rose. What is your name?", she cheerfully asks.
"Sticks. Sticks the badger. Just so you know, I don't trust you, but I will take you to the compound anyway, because they are paying me in bottle caps.", she takes her hand and shakes firmly.
"Do you collect them?", Amy questions.
"Nope! I just like how shine they are.", Stick replies.
She took her hand a way. Amy didn't comment on her wiping her hand on her skirt.
"Neat. I like knitting, we should try that some time.", Amy shares.
"Sure, when fish fly.", Stick said sarcastically.
She does not comment that there are flying fish. Instead, she follows behind Sticks as she starts to walk away from the parking lot.
"Did you walk all the way here?", she asked.
"Of course! I don't trust those metal death traps.", Sticks glared at passing cars.
"Sticks, I have way too much to carry, and it will take us all day if we walk there with all of my stuff intact!", worried Amy.
"You do have a point.....", Stick sweats.
Amy sighed in relief.
"I'll be right back. You stay here and don't move!", she says.
Sticks runs off in a random directions.
"Wait-", Amy starts.
Sticks was already gone. Great.
