THREE. sharing you with the world isn't easy to do
HAVING RICKY around for the summer meant a lot to Shiloh. More than what she realized. Shiloh had done a lot of thinking while she spent two months ahead at camp. She'd been able to find a spot she'd call her own (hoping that it hadn't been the spot EJ and Nini became EJ and Nini) and just think.
Though she had her best friends there, she still hadn't found that comfort that she'd been looking for. Of course she loved her friends and could tell them everything. It was the fact that she knew that no one could understand what ran through the mind of the "Love Club Girl".
She'd been labeled as this girl who thought she knew it all and at this point in her "career" had everything handed to her. She been in interviews that people pretended to be in on TikTok, she'd met celebrities that people wanted to meet. The internet had this idea of Shiloh Molina that she couldn't change.
But Shiloh always kept a low profile even with this newfound "fame". She had her relationship with Ricky that she kept close to her heart and off the internet, she had her best friends, something that would never change, and she had her family.
Though she kept those things close, with a camera crew following everyone around camp for a Disney Plus documentary she knew that her relationship with Ricky would been seen by millions, maybe even billions, of eyes worldwide.
She still wasn't use to all the attention. None of the Love Club member had. It's something they'd probably never get use to. Now they had to add "television fame" to the list of things that they had handed to them.
It was a lot for the girl to think about. She didn't even know about the lead she'd had handed to her.
If there was one thing that Shiloh wanted, it was to let the world know that she was so much more than that Love Club Girl they labeled her as. She was Shiloh Molina. That would never change.
Something that also wouldn't change? Ricky and Shiloh.
He found her sitting on the steps of her cabin. She'd been looking up at the stars in the sky. Something about this felt different than looking at the stars in Salt Lake. It was all the same sky, but being out in nature made the moment different.
"I bet I can count the stars faster than you." Ricky smiled.
Shiloh lips twitched into a smile. She'd glanced at him for a moment before looking back up.
"Whatcha thinkin' about?" He asked, sitting next to her.
"Who says I'm thinking?" She retaliated, "What if I'm just taking in the atmosphere?"
"You've been here for two months. How much more atmosphere can you take?"
Shiloh chuckled, a smile lingering on her face. She gently pushed Ricky away. He grabbed her hand with smile, lacing it with his.
"There's that smile." He sighed, "I know you Molina. What's up? If I can't bottle things up anymore neither can you."
Shiloh and Ricky had been able to work on their relationship since the Lily fiasco. It wasn't an overnight success and it still wasn't perfect, but no couple was. Shiloh had her moments of jealousy and Ricky kept small things from Shiloh, but they were working on it together.
"Are you ready to be seen by millions of people?" She asked.
"For the documentary? No, I don't think anyone- I think the only people truly excited are Kourt and Carlos." He chuckled, "But it's not gonna be too bad right? I've got you, no worries." He smiled, taking her hand and kissing the back of it, "If I need some on air advice I know who to go to."
Ricky noticed Shiloh's smile fall ever so slightly and gave her hand a small squeeze.
"Are you excited for the documentary?"
"If you are."
"That's not the answer I wanted to hear."
Shiloh sighed, "Ever since that stupid little news report my whole life has changed overnight. I will always be grateful that people are accepting the Love Club. That's all I ever wanted." She explained, "But nothings ever free is it? My friends, my family, you; it was like my secret. Now everyone, people who've criticized me, people who like me, people who hate me, they're finally gonna meet everyone. I don't think quite ready for that change just yet."
Shiloh had her moment of pure rawness with Ricky and it's something that he valued in their relationship. He knew that if he needed someone, he'd go to his person. His girl. That would never change no matter how the media portrayed it.
"The day I asked you to be my girlfriend I knew that this relationship was different. I think you've made me a better person." Ricky laughed.
"You were always a good person."
"I needed a push and you've gave it to me. I've been in my circle. It was always small. Then I met you, all your friends and joined several musicals." Ricky said, "Because of you I've been able to tell the girl that I love, I love her very much. I will never let that go. Because in this world, it's you and me. No article, no celebrity, no documentary will ever change us."
Shiloh smiled, "You have such a way with, Shakespeare."
"I got it from you. You give impressive speech. Still not over that speech that convinced your dads to let me spend three nights at your place with the door shut."
Ricky Bowen loved Shiloh Molina and he could rave about her for hours. He'd never met anyone like her before. Describing his relationship with Shiloh could make for a pretty hefty novel.
Shiloh Molina loved Ricky Bowen. She would've talked heavily about him in the interviews that she had, but like said, she wanted her relationship with Ricky to be what it was. A couple of teenagers in love and the only worries they had were who drink the last of the punch.
"No matter what. I'll love you always." Ricky said.
Shiloh softly smiled, "I'll always love you, no matter what."
Shiloh rested her free hand on Ricky's cheek, pulling him close and placing a kiss on his lips. It was a kiss shared between two people who loved each other and just needed to be in the moment. It never felt rushed. It was slow and loving.
Shiloh smiled, backing away, "I'm glad you're here." She said, resting her head on his shoulder.
"Me too." He sighed, "You never told me what the musical was."
"Frozen."
Ricky paused, "Did you say you wanted to make a change at camp?"
"Yeah, something like that."
"Audition for the musical."
Shiloh furrowed her brows and lifted her head form Ricky's shoulder, "I know we haven't seen each other in two months, but I'm not a musical girl. That's all you."
Ricky stood from the steps and and held his arms out, "This is your chance to make a change."
"That's not what I meant when I said I wanted to make a change, Ricky." She said standing, "I want to make a difference here. I want to figure out who I am."
"You can't figure out who you are without... changing lanes sometimes."
"Good analogy. I'm not gonna audition though."
"Can you sleep on the thought?" He asked, "Think about how cool it would be if we were leads. People would have to look at us and think "Wow, they play such a great couple." and when they find out we're actually a couple they'll go, "Wow, it makes perfect sense that they're the leads".
Shiloh smiled, "I know I've said it a thousand times, but I've really missed you."
Ricky grabbed Shiloh's hands, swinging them back and forth ever so slightly, "I've missed you too. This could give us something to do while at camp. It's summer. We're supposed to be having fun and doing new things, meeting new people."
"I'll sleep on it, okay?" She sighed, "It's not a yes, but it's not a no either."
Ricky Bowen had such a way with words. It was a good and bad trait for him specifically to have, but it would mean the world if he was able to play the lead along side his girlfriend.
She'd sleep on it, she said. What she didn't know what that the part was already hers.
