NINE. maybe this time
SHILOH HAD BEEN up before the sunrise as she stepped foot on the grounds of East High.
She carried her Love Club crate in her hands with dry eyes and dreading to put in the contacts she had to wear for the movie.
She gently kicked the door of the club room open and sat the heavy crate down on the ground.
She had yet to hear from Ricky other than a voicemail saying he needed to figure somethings out.
Halloween had been a relationship disaster with things going on between Ashlyn and Maddox, Jet and Kourtney, and Carlos and Seb. They had all contact one of the five love club members for some help and the problem was... Evie, Jenna, and Madison were all in California to attend an event at UCLA to see if that's where any of them wanted to go.
Shiloh, because of the movie, had to stay behind and go another time with Ashley who practically cried that Shiloh would have to go to California alone.
So, it was just Shiloh and Ashley, along with the mini Love Club for today and dealing with whatever happened after Shiloh left last night.
Shiloh sat down in her chair, grabbing the folders that everyone has had since she made them last year.
She began to scribble what she believed that she overheard Evie spilling to her last night over the phone as someone began knocking on the door.
She stood up, wrapping her cardigan around her arms as she opened the door.
"Hey."
Shiloh gave a small nod, pressing her head against the door as she looked over at Mack.
"Can I come in?" He asked.
"Do you have a Love Club problem?" She asked.
Was she mad at her costar? Yeah, she was. For almost a week straight she has practically begged for Mack to not mention or talk about the TikTok they would make until she talked to "someone" and yet, he spilled the bean before she could count to ten.
"Kind of?" He muttered, playing with the ring on his fingers, "If you allow me inside."
Shiloh sighed, stepping to the side and allowing the boy inside the clubroom.
He glanced around the room as Shiloh stood over her table, glancing over at the folders to make sure she had everything she needed before making her way over to the whiteboard and writing what she needed onto the board.
"So this is the infamous clubroom." Mack smiled, "I saw a picture of it on Architectural Digest... My only question is why do you have Christmas decorations up instead of Thanksgiving?"
Shiloh didn't bother to turn as she continued to write on the board. "This isn't very "I need help" of you right now."
"Right." Mack sighed, rocking on his heels, "First, I want to apologize for what happened at Gina's. If I knew that you had a boyfriend, let alone "Wow" guy, I wouldn't have proposed the idea in the first place."
Shiloh sighed, capping on her marker before turning towards him. "I'm sorry. I have so much going on with college and the club and just... everything, that I thought that if I kept my relationship with Ricky private that I could find some sort of balance."
Mack softly smiled, stepping forward with his hands in his pockets, "I get it. Finding any sort of balance would be a miracle."
The two of them shared a small laugh before Shiloh looked up, pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose. "Did you actually need Love Club help or did you just come here to apologize?"
"Oh, yeah!" He smiled, "There was this girl at the party. She was wearing this red almost orange looking wig and—"
"Ashley?"
"Yes!" He smiled, pointing towards the girl before clapping his hands together, "Ashley. I was wondering if she was single?"
Shiloh furrowed her brows, pressing her hand against the table. "My Ashley? You want a chance at my Ashley Yang?"
"If she's single... yes?" Mack questioned, "We just got to talking at the party and I felt a vibe, you know? She had the cutest smile and when we talked I almost felt normal."
Shiloh quipped her lip to the side before sighing. She made her way over to the filing cabinet and grabbed a blank one and the polaroid camera.
She held the camera in her hands and tucked the folder under her arms as she told Mack to smile.
He did, in fact, give her a confused smile as she took the photo. She grabbed the photo that printed out of the camera, glueing it onto the inside of the folder and grabbed a pen from her cardigan.
"I need you to sign here and here... and initial there." She watched as she signed over the Love Club form and finally checking the box declaring that he would leave a five star review if she was able to help.
"Great." Shiloh smiled, "Now, I'll have Ryan talk to you about how to talk to a girl like a normal person and I'll shadow her."
"Wait... wait." Mack scoffed, "I think I can manage to talk to Ashley. I just wanted to know if she was single."
The door of the clubroom opened and Ashley walked inside. She was their early knowing that Shiloh had a very busy and packed day ahead of her.
She looked up, kicking the door shut as she held two Starbucks coffees in her hands. "Oh!" She gently exclaimed, "Mack, if I knew you were here I'd would've brought you a drink also."
"Okay, it's Ashley." Mack smiled, jumbling up his words.
Ashley only nodded and handed Shiloh her drink. She grabbed the folders from the table for sitting down on the couch.
Mack turned, facing Shiloh. "When can I talk with Ryan?"
"4:00." Shiloh smiled, sipping her drink.
After that, Shiloh and Mack found themselves in costumes for the movie. Shiloh's hair straightened and her clips in practically taped to her scalp as she made her way down the halls of East High.
She had her phone pressed to her ear as she sighed, her call going straight to voicemail.
"Hey, Ricky." She sighed, "I was just checking in on you... you've been silent on everyone, so I just wanted to check up on you. Call me back. Love you."
She removed the phone from her ear and hung up the call. She played with the rings that the set provided for her as she passed the bomb shelter, but stepped back when she saw Principal Gutierrez and Miss. Jenn talking.
"I don't know what you've heard, but the musical is going swimmingly!" Miss. Jenn teethed, "In fact, we have an Act One run-through tonight."
"Oh, excellent." He smiled, "Then you won't mind me dropping in for rehearsals tonight? To see you all in action. Make sure you have a quorum of sorts."
"Of course. And by quorum, you mean..."
"At least eight students."
Miss. Jenn smiled, "We would welcome your attendance."
"Great." He smiled, "And Miss. Jenn, please be advised that if the turnout isn't sufficient tonight, I will be forced to cancel the musical altogether. And thus end this rather surreal ride that you and I have been on. Good day."
Shiloh stood there for a moment longer before making her way down the hall.
This musical meant everything to everyone and with the majority of the cast out of town and the other half not participating because of the movie... well, it was a lot
Shiloh pressed her red lips together, drawing up an idea that might've been a little too far out there.
But it was so crazy that it might just work.
