FIVE. the small gestures count too

SHILOH SAT on her bedroom floor marking out Ricky's name on the list of people they were currently helping in the club.

They had several others that had recently asked for their help and Shiloh's eyes began to burn as she watched the spreadsheet in front of her pile up with names.

Just because Ricky quit on her doesn't mean she was quitting on the musical in general. Miss. Jenn wanted the Love Club's help and even if the actual couple (EJ and Nini) were now playing the leads, they still had to set this friendship bond that Mrs. Jenn had added to the Love Club's to-do list.

This was way beyond Shiloh's range. She knew she couldn't force friendships between everyone in the musical, but the whole club knew that if they (the cast) had an ounce of actual acting in them, they could pull that out and at least have that acting actually show on stage when the time came.

Shiloh's eyes shifted from her computer and onto her notebook with Ricky's scribbled our name on it.

She knew he was speaking to her out of anger and whether she deserved it or not, she felt bad. Shiloh had grown frustrated with two people who couldn't even act civil for the others around them. Some actors could have a deep-rooted hatred for each other but manage to make themselves look like the best friends on screen.

She slumped further down onto the floor. Today did not go as plan. Shiloh knew better than to think that their first idea would work. She barely had time to work on it as she was also helping others that had asked for the club's help.

She felt like she failed herself, the club, Miss. Jenn, the theater department, and Ricky.

But this was only one small misstep. She could rebound from this whole thing and work on something completely new.

Shiloh wasn't going to quit that easily.

BUT SHE definitely wasn't going to worry so heavily about a situation she felt like couldn't be fixed.

Ricky made of very clear he was done with the club and didn't want anything to do with them anymore.

So, if Ricky was done with them. They were done with him.

Shiloh sat in the library working on homework from the previous class she had just gotten. She rather get the work done ASAP and go home and work on her own thing.

Ricky watched her from a distance trying to work up some type of courage to speak to her.

He had already shown Carlos that he worked on the dance from the musical and was headstrong about staying and playing the lead.

Now, he had to go and apologize to the person he went out of his way to ask for help.

He shook his nerves and approached her.

"Shiloh?"

She quickly glanced up at him before directing her attention back onto the work in front of her.

"Hey, Ricky."

"I know you're busy, but I just wanted to apologize for yesterday. I was frustrated with myself and Nini and I took that out on you when I asked for your help." He apologized, "I decided to do the musical. I still need the Love Club's help, but completely understand if don't want to help me."

Shiloh sighed, "You can sit if you want."

Ricky hesitantly sat down next to her, pulling the chair a little closer, and waited for her to either accept or deny his apology.

"You sound sincere."

"Because I am."

Shiloh sighed and held a small smile, "I know you're being sincere."

Ricky held a small smile on his face, "So, we're good?" He held his fist out, waiting for her to bump it.

"We're good," She said, returning the fist bump, "but you have to do something for me in return."

"I have to pay the Love Club now?" He joked.

"This is for me. A personal thing." She smiled, "You have to teach me any one thing you know. You choose."

"Deal."

Shiloh held her small smile as she quickly glanced back down at the work in front of her.

Ricky's eyes followed but slowly drifted away when he took notice of her handwriting sticking out the side of a notebook.

He titled his head slightly in hopes to get a better look at what it was, but it just seemed to be a bunch of words scrambled on the paper.

"What's that?"

Shiloh followed his eyes and grabbed the paper from where it had been sticking out. She didn't know what it was either until getting a better look at it.

"Nothing."

Ricky furrowed his brows, "Nothing?"

Shiloh had a lot of free time after EJ broke up with her. She was angry, frustrated, sad, and blamed herself for their short-term relationship. She didn't want to bother her friends with EJ all the time, she knew how annoying it could be when someone constantly talked about their ex and knows there's nothing to really get them back.

Shiloh wasn't a singer. She wasn't that whatsoever. If she was, maybe she would still be with EJ.

She rather call it poetry than a song because who was she singing to? Unless she was in the shower or joking with her friends, there was no way Shiloh Molina was belting out a good high note anytime soon.

She balled the piece of paper up and threw it in the closet trash can.

She shrugged her shoulders and faced Ricky, "Nothing."

She'd be damn if she would let him read something that she wrote months ago about a guy who broke up with her.

"Doesn't seem like nothing."

"Well, it's nothing now because it's in the trash." She smiled.

Ricky sent a soft one back. Shiloh was a person who didn't really talk about her own feelings with many people. She definitely wasn't going to start with Ricky either.

But who knows... things change.
