EIGHT. halloween bashed

HALLOWEEN WAS something that Jenna Russet went all out for every year. She would do anything and everything to make Halloween the best time of the year for everyone involved and that included the Love Club.

She had picked out their costumes every year and every year she would have the brightest smile on her face when her friends stepped out in their costumes for the first time.

And this year was no different.

She made everyone in the club, including the mini member standing in a circle as she held a bowl in her hands with various costume ideas and when she finally pulled one out and read it to herself, she quickly pulled Cameron into her.

Disney Princesses.

Jenna made everyone in the club sit down as she walked around them and assigned each on of them a princess to be that night.

"And don't forget!" She smiled, "A princess doesn't need a prince to shine!"

It was stupid, but true and one by one, she picked a princess for everyone to be.

And she remembered looking down at Shiloh with the brightest smile before assigning her as Ariel.

And to cut to the chase, Madison was Belle, Ashley was Rapunzel, Evie as Sleeping Beauty, Jenna as Sofia the First, Ryan as Cinderella, Scout as Snow White, Emmy as Anna, Megan as Merdia, and Cameron as Elsa.

Got it?

Good, because it was going to take a lot of Jenna to find everyone the right wigs and makeup to make them look like they just walked out of a casting call to work at Disneyland.

And as everyone gathered at Jenna's house to get ready for the party at Gina's, everyone else took notice of Shiloh's red hair falling over her face as Mack continued to text her about this TikTok his was going to post.

Her dress was from the Kiss The Girl scene of the movie and her black heels high enough to have the girl stumbling from left to right if she wasn't careful.

Shiloh's fingers quickly and heavily tapped against her screen as she went back and forth with Mack about this alleged TikTok he was going to post.

Shiloh was going to tell Ricky about this whole idea about this fake dating thing Mack wanted to do and how she wasn't with the idea at all, but with the club and having the mini members pacing back and forth with the work load, college applications going through, being the lead in a high production movie and the school musical, and being co-captain of the soccer team... it was a lot of the girl and she had lost track of time.

Jenna looked over at the girl as she helped Madison place the bright, almost orange, curly wig onto Megan's head.

Shiloh held furrowed brows and she continued to text Mack and soon enough Jenna joined the girls side.

"Whatcha doin'?" The blonde asked, her brunette wig lopsided on her head, "You've been on your phone since you've made into my room."

Shiloh looked up, giving Jenna a soft smile before putting her phone on do not disturb. She brushed her hair behind her ears and adjusted the obnoxious black bow in the back on her hair.

"College stuff." She sighed, "Making sure my Duke, UCLA, Penn State, Berkeley, and my University of Salt Lake early application went through."

The majority of the Love Club members had all applied to the same colleges with the exception of two or three. This was a major step in their lives and whether or not they all went to the same college, they were immensely proud of each other.

"Isn't it exciting!" Jenna smiled, "I applied to NYU for Drama Therapy." She turned towards the others, the wig falling into her lap, "I mean come on! That's so up my alley is it not?"

The group chuckled as Jenna threw her brown wig back onto her head. She turned back over towards Shiloh, a small smile painted on her face.

"I know you and Ricky aren't together, but I know the two of you are friends." Jenna smiled, "Has he said anything about college?"

"Uh, no... No he hasn't."

Which was odd. Because all of this, everything that Shiloh had worked so hard for, lead her to applying to the colleges she had.

She wanted to go to a good school, she wanted a great job, she wanted to go to college because that was something she'd planned out for herself. It was one of the stable things she had and she was going for gold.

But she had yet to here anything from Ricky about college.

Ricky and Shiloh were very, very different when it came down to school.

While Shiloh didn't mind the work she'd done at school... Ricky was busy trying to come up with senior pranks since his freshman year.

In fact, Ricky would probably only get into a good college if he applied for a scholarship, went to community college first, or raised his GPA... which was lower, way lower than Shiloh's, who was on track to become valedictorian.

Evie turned, the blonde wig seated perfectly on their head, "Wait, I didn't apply to NYU."

"I think Jenna was the only one to do so." Madison muttered.

"I mean, they have drama therapy at Duke also, which I applied to." Jenna sighed.

"Do you ever think about us being separated?" Ashley asked, "I know we all applied to Duke and UCLA, but what if one of us don't get in? What if this our last time with each other? What if—"

"What if..." Shiloh laughed, adjusting the bow on her head, standing to her feet to wrap her arms around Ashley, "we don't worry about that right now? I have had the best four years with all of you and I be damned if I cry tonight about us being separated."

The Love Club being separated had crossed Shiloh's mind a dozen times, but the reality was, there was nothing that any of them could do about being separated. If they wanted to stay together, there was a possibility, but, for example, if Jenna wanted to go to NYU, none of the members would stop her from going.

"Come on." Shiloh smiled, "No more moping around. We've got a killer party to go to."

After slapping on some more makeup on and zipping up what felt like a dozen dresses, the group finally arrived to Gina's for the party. The said party was held in her attic bedroom.

"Look at the princesses!" Carlos shouted.

Most of the costumes didn't correlate other than Gina and Victoria and Evie and Dylan, who tried to mask that idea by being a genderbent Maleficent.

A whistle was soon blown and Ricky came marching up the steps with his fist held in the air.

"Let's get this starry parted!" He smiled, "No. Let me come in again, sorry."

Carlos turned, "Oh, is he okay?"

Shiloh tilted his head, muttering to herself, "He's definitely not Eric."

"Bowen as Baywatch." Ashlyn smiled.

Shiloh crossed her arms, a small smile on her face as Ricky made his way back upstairs, pretending to swim.

"Is this some sort of Zac Efron, Baywatch reboot deep cut?" She asked.

Ricky made his way towards this others, a smile appeared on his face, "I literally canning wait to explain this to you." He smiled towards Shiloh.

Soon, Gina's doorbell rang and she had a bright smile appear on her face.

"Oh, my gosh, I think that's our first trick-or-treater!" She gasped, rushing to grab the bowl.

"In the attic?" Carlos asked.

"She had us make a sign." Victoria smiled, her halloween costume matching Gina's Catwoman.

Soon, a kid, assumably a kid, made their way upstairs to grab a piece of candy from the bowl before coming all the way into the attic and placing a piece of candy into the palm of Carlos' hand.

"I'm scared." Carlos muttered towards the others as the person walked away.

After some time, the party was in full swing and Gina had handed Shiloh one of her many polaroids' to take pictures from the night.

She had taken several before making her way over to Ricky, her smile never dropping from her face.

She held the camera up and Ricky pressed her cheek against her, making a face as she pressed the button to take the photo.

"Cute." Shiloh smiled, taking the photo from the camera, "As always."

Ricky chuckled, turning to face the girl, "So, hi."

"Hi." She smiled.

"I know I messed up the couple's costumes, but—"

"Hey," Shiloh softly smiled, "don't sweat it. The bathing suit and the alarmingly lifelike T-shirt is working for you, though, I'm sure you would've looked fine without the shirt."

"Oh, really?" Ricky asked, stepping forward, leaning down to her, "That's for your eyes only, Molina."

Shiloh smiled, playfully rolling her eyes, "I would do anything to kiss you, just to shut you up. It's almost killing me."

"Speaking of things that are killing me, you know how in theater when there are casting problems, you can't put on a show?" Ricky asked.

"Oh, Gina said we have one rule tonight and that is to not talk about the show or movie." Shiloh muttered, "And thank God, it's going to drive me up the wall."

"Well, we may have to make an expectation to that 'cause I have something big to tell you." He paused, "Or small, it could be small."

Shiloh sighed, "I actually have something to tell you, too."

"Mack!" A voice called.

Ricky turned, almost rolling his eyes as he saw the boy dress in costume.

"It's nice to see you all outside of set." Mack smiled, "Ashlyn, Carlos, Maddox, Jet, Victoria, Evie, Madison, Jenna, Ashley, Gina, right?" He smiled, turning towards Shiloh and Ricky, "And, of course, the leading lady herself, Shiloh."

"Oh, good." Ricky turned, muttering towards the girl, "Spark is here."

"Be nice." Shiloh muttered back, nudging his arm, "His name was Mark, and you knew that."

"Hey!" Mack approached, "You're the wow guy, right?" Ricky scoffed as Mack continued, "Who almost ruined the take."

"Wow." Ricky exclaimed.

"Yeah, like that!" Mack smiled, "Honestly, I get it, though, Shiloh was amazing. Pretty sick place isn't it, Shi-Shi. Exposed oak beams, very on-trend."

"Yeah." Shiloh sighed, "Gina's got a nice place."

"Hey, Shi-Shi," Ricky called, "would you like to join me for some punch?"

"Oh, yeah." Shiloh smiled, "Let me grab my cup."

"Oh, hey." Mack turned towards Ricky, "Wow guy, would you mind grabbing me a glass?"

"You got it, buddy." Ricky grimaced.

Ricky reluctantly left the two of them alone as Mack to steps towards.

"I can't believe you showed up." Shiloh smiled.

"Well, I couldn't miss the announcement of our fake dating life, you know that. But I might bounce early. Parties are kinda draining for me. It's a lot of pressure to be Mack."

"Yeah, I can honestly only imagine."

"So, do you wanna break the internet at midnight? 'Cause we could post a pic and make it official."

"Mack, I already told you that all of that would be out the line of my Love Club rules and would be very hypocritical of as I disown anyone who does that." Shiloh sighed, "I just... I have to try and talk things out with someone first before I even think about leaning my lips towards yours."

Meanwhile, Ricky and Jet stood by the punch as Ricky poured himself and Mack a drink.

"Mack is very handsome." Jet smiled.

"Thanks, Jet."

"I mean, you're handsome." Jet chuckled, "But he's, like, very handsome. We gotta play it cool tonight, bro."

"The party is here!" Kourtney shouted as she ran up the stairs.

"You we're saying?" Ricky mocked, "Gotta okay it cool tonight, bro. Go ahead."

Ricky took a sip of the drink before spitting back into the other cup and making his way back over to Shiloh and Mack.

"Hey, here you go." Ricky smiled, handing him the cup he spat into.

"Thanks." Mack smiled, taking a sip, "Zingy."

"People," Ashlyn called, "I will be reading tarot cards in five minutes. Please make an orderly pentagram."

"Hi." Shiloh smiled.

"Try this again?" Ricky asked.

Shiloh licked her red stained lips as she turned towards Ricky, "So, Mack—"

"Hey, Wildcats!" A voice called. Dani making her way up the stairs with her Gabriella costume down to the nines.

"Why are dressed as Vanessa Hudgens in High School Musical 3?" Victoria asked, "We 100% told everyone that all things HSM were off limits tonight... including costumes."

Ricky chuckled, turning towards Shiloh, "That's actually a really interesting question."

Shiloh cocked her head to the side, before crossing her arms over her chest, "Is it?"

"Kourtney, my bestie of the week." Dani called, "Wait, did you go to Princeton?" She asked, looking down at her sweatshirt.

"Girl, I'm in high school." Kourtney answered.

"Yes, I know what order people go to schools." She scoffed, turning to face Ricky, "Ricky! Hey!"

Ricky chuckled awkwardly, "Dani, you remember Shiloh?"

"My switcharoo." She smiled, "Love that for us."

Shiloh furrowed her brows, "What are you talking about? What is she talking about Ricky?"

"It's—"

Dani smiled, resting her hand onto Ricky's shoulder, "Okay, who are you right now?" She asked, "Because this is not what we talked about."

Ricky turned, looking over at Shiloh, who's arms were still crossed over her chest.

"We didn't..."

Dani cut Ricky off once more, "Wait. Did you go as a different Zac Efron movie? Are you giving 17 Again?"

"Is this why you didn't go as Eric? Because you had matching costumes with Dani?" Shiloh asked.

"Let's begin!" Ashlyn shouted, "These tarot cards are very special. They were a gift from the Madam Stephanie, my psychic and life coach, who is currently accepting new clients. She asked me to tell you. Are we all here?"

"Uh, Maddox isn't." Madison called.

"She said she went down to check the fuse box." Evie said, "She said she saw the lights flickering and didn't want to bother Gina about it."

"Uh, I hope not." Gina chuckled, "That fuse box is really old."

Suddenly, there was a scream with was followed by the screams from the group upstairs.

Ricky and Shiloh screaming side by side as he practically jumped into her lap with his arms wrapping around her.

"It's fine, it's fine, it's fine." Ashlyn reassured as the lights flicked on.

Soon enough, Maddox was upstairs with them, her hair smoking as she looking exhausted, almost dead.

She soon passed out on the floor causing the others to scream and Ashlyn pushing her way towards her.

"Oh, my God!" Ricky cried, standing to his feet as the others gathered around, "What do we do?"

"Call an ambulance!" Ashlyn shouted, "I'll do mouth-to-mouth, as a friend!"

As Ashlyn bent over the girl, Maddox's eyes popped open and she muttered a "boo" causing Ashlyn to scream once more as the others gasped as Maddox sat upright, perfectly fine.

"Wow." Ricky smiled, "That was a good one."

"The Woman in the Woods could never." Carlos smiled.

Maddox smiled, standing to her feet, "I felt like I owed you all a good scare after the legend of Susan Fine kinda crashed a burned."

Maddox turned, doing a double take over towards Ashlyn was seemed dazed, "Hey, Ash, you okay?"

"Mmm-hmm." She answered quickly.

"Are you crying?" Ashley asked.

"Why would I be crying?" Ashlyn questioned, "It was humorous. These are laugh tears. Shall we begin?"

She pushed her way back towards the cards and sitting down with the others, continuing what they had once before.

"Please remember I am new at this and it's just for fun." Ashlyn said. She opened the box, grabbing a card with a gasp, "This first card is... Death."

"Present." Carlos said, easing his hand.

"Actually, the Death card means something in one's life is ending." Ashlyn corrected.

"You don't have to hit me over the head with it." Carlos said, "Seb and I are over."

"Could be for me, though." Maddox spoke, "Mad and Mad are... Bad."

"Ricky and Shiloh." Jenna called, "It's funny because Shiloh still has pictures of Ricky in—"

"Funny you mention couples because Shiloh and I haven't officially declared what we are yet but there's definitely something special happening here." Mack spoke.

Shiloh deeply sighed as she rested her head into her hands, her glasses being pushed up into her hair.

"Sorry." Ricky called, "What now?"

"Oh!" Mack smiled, "Just check my TikTok at midnight and see what's up."

Shiloh lifted her head, her glasses dropping onto her face crookedly, "That's not what we agreed on. I told you that I had to talk to Ricky."

"Who's Ricky?" Mack asked.

"My boyfriend." Shiloh scoffed.

Shiloh shut her eyes for a moment. No one in the room making a sound until Victoria turned from her spot.

"You and Ricky got back together?" She asked, "This has to be some sort of Halloween prank."

"Well, I'll tell you what's not a prank." Dani smiled, standing to her feet, "I am thrilled to be stepping into the roll of Gabriella in East High's production of HSM3 alongside my forever Zac Efron. Ricky with the good hair."

Shiloh looked over at Ricky, his one hand covering his mouth as the other rested on his knee.

"Ricky with the good hair?" Shiloh questioned, "Forever Zac Efron? Gabriella in HSM3? What is she talking about?"

"You didn't tell everyone?" Dani asked Ricky.

Soon, Shiloh stood to her feet, making small steps as Ricky stood between the two of them.

Shiloh's jealousy was up there with Ricky's and possibly worse than Dylan's. She had been through hell and back with Dylan and EJ and she'd be damned if some TikTok wannabe, and quite frankly, terrible actress took her man.

Dylan leaned over towards Evie, "You know, I've seen SIM fight Rebecca Marshall. The girl who tried to kiss me at some party."

"Oh, yeah." Evie whispered back, "Her hand was bruised for two weeks... this is gonna be so good."

"Hey... It seems the cards have awoken some demons." Ashlyn called.

"I've been kicked me from the show?" Shiloh asked.

Ricky turned, "No, no, baby. This was supposed to be a favor. I wanted to talk to you in private, but it's a good thing."

"How is it a good thing to be fired from a show?" She asked, "Let's ask the expert herself, shall we?"

"Excuse me?" Dani called.

"Please," Ricky turned, "just stay out of this." Ricky faced Shiloh, "Shi, you work until 9:00 P.M. every night, you're up late doing Love Club stuff, you have soccer practice before school starts, you have to shower in your dressing you to film this movie. Honestly, I thought you'd be relieved. And I'm not the one who's supposed to be posting a selfie at midnight with Mack."

"I told Mack for almost a week straight that I couldn't do the fake dating thing because it's not within my Love Club morals and that I had to talk to you first." She argued.

"Okay, okay." Evie said, standing to their feet, "Although I would love to see the next Halloween bash of 2017, I think we need to take a couple of steps back. You called Ricky your boyfriend and you called Shiloh baby and I feel like I'm the only one who picked up on that."

"Evie," Shiloh sighed, as Ricky took her hand, "you knew Ricky and I were dating. We never broke up during the summer and I don't know how or why People Magazine and Entertainment Tonight are all in business."

Evie smiled, "I know I just wanted to hear you say it. I think I diffused the situation. Another point for Love Clubber Evie Fernandez."

Ricky gave Shiloh's hand a soft squeeze as she sighed, "I really didn't want to keep my relationship private because I do, honestly, have a lot going and my relationship just... it's a lot to me and I didn't want to lose it due to stress or... whatever this just was." She turned towards Ricky, "And I'm sorry. It was a stupid idea."

Shiloh's apology hung in the air for a moment, but Ricky didn't let it linger. Without a word, he leaned in, capturing her lips in a tender, reassuring kiss.

Their lips were met in a gentle warmth as the others, excluding Dani and Mack, awed.

As they pulled away from the kiss, his lips now painted red from from lipstick, their eyes met, and they shared a brief but meaningful look. It was a look that said, "We're okay," and "I love you," all at once.

"This party..." Dani paused, "This party sucks."

Carlos turned towards the others as the others Dan let, "Okay... I know dramatic and that was it. Are there anymore secrets we should know about?"

Evie turned slightly, looking over at Dylan.

"And not Dylan and Evie." Carlos scoffed, "You two aren't as sneaky as y'all think."

Gina sighed to herself, looking over at Victoria with a small smile before the two of them laced their hands together.

"You're joking!" Carlos smiled.

After gawking at the fact that Ricky and Shiloh had never broken up and that Gina and Victoria were together, the party sprung back up.

Shiloh separated herself from Ricky to make her way over towards the others. And from Ricky's side, Shiloh's phone began to nonstop buzz.

Ricky furrowed his brows as he picked off Shiloh's phone as it continued to go off beside him. His face soon was in a shocked expression as the phone unlocked due to him having his face ID in her phone.

And one by one, messages from Shiloh's little brother Weston popped up on the screen.

Can you tell Jonathan to chill about Ricky teaching me how to do a 360 kick flip? The message read.

I know he doesn't like him, but I do! Jonathan is literally the only person in our family who has a problem with him... Johnny is sus! The last message read.

Ricky sighed. Shiloh had told him that Jonathan liked him to protect Ricky. In no shape, way, or form did Shiloh want Ricky to be hurt because of Jonathan.

"Hey." Shiloh smiled, but quickly titled her head to the side, "Hey... what's wrong?"

Ricky quickly locked the girls phone, handing it to her, "I think I'm gonna head out."

"What? Why?"

Ricky stepped forward, pressing a lingering kiss against Shiloh's cheek, taking her hand as he did so.

"I think you should text Weston back."

With that, Ricky left. Leaving Shiloh with her brows knit in confusion. She quickly unlocked her phone and seeing the text messages from her little brother.

Shiloh sighed and rushed downstairs to try and catch Ricky, but he was already gone.

The girl shut her eyes, standing in the cold October winds as her dress brushed against her legs.

She could almost laugh. Laugh at the fact that this just so happened to be the time that she was away from her phone. Laugh at the fact that Ricky's face ID had been in her phone for a couple of months and he was able to unlock and read the messages with ease.

With her back still turned, facing the door of Gina's house, it opened and Ashley Yang stood there. Her blonde wig in her hands to prevent her from stepping on it anymore and her purple high-low dress flowing behind her.

"Shiloh?" She called, "Everything okay? I noticed you and Ricky not inside."

Shiloh turned, almost stumbling over, "Uh, yeah... Ricky was ready to go and I decided to walk him out."

"Oh..." Ashley muttered, playing with her fingers, "Wanna get out of here? Just the two of us? I think Dunkin is opened."

Shiloh gave her a small smile, reaching her hand out for Ashley to grab.

In all honesty, all Ricky Bowen wanted was to be liked by Shiloh's entire family. Because he loved her and he could quite honestly see himself with her for a long time.

All Ricky wanted his the approval of her entire family.
