CHAPTER EIGHTEENTH. OLD MEMORIES.
Lincoln had entered the Loud house's attic, together with his parents by his side. And was observing his entire surroundings as well. The House's attic was just as Lincoln remembered it to be.
It was somewhat spacious and dark, as well as had several boxes and chests inside of the attic. Each box that Lincoln had noticed was written down, to what was inside of each cardboard box.
From old children's toys, old clothes, pictures, and many more that were inside of the House's attic. As well as seeing many other things and objects that Lincoln had never seen before. Such as old objects and pictures that he does not recognize.
The Attic has a Triangular roof and back walls design, with a flat wooden floorboard. There were no windows or any light sources at all. Making the entire area dark with little light source, besides the main entrance of the House's attic.
Lincoln was observing his surroundings and looking at each one of the cardboard boxes that was in the attic. And noticed each one was well organized and written down on each one of the boxes.
After a short period of searching and observing in the house's attic. Lincoln had noticed a small cardboard box on the floor that was close to him. Both Rita and Lynn Sr. Were following behind their son. but had remained silent since arriving at the attic.
While following behind their son. Both Rita and Lynn Sr. Were also obsessing about their entire surroundings as well. Both parents were reflecting on many past events and objects from within the attic.
As well as holding many memories they both shared greatly together. As husband and wife, and as parents to their children. When they noticed that Lincoln had stopped in his tracks, they immediately stopped as well in their tracks.
Lincoln was staring at a cardboard box on the floor with several other boxes together. But what took his attention the most, was the writing that says, do not open.
Lincoln was very curious about the large box in his sight. As well as wondering what was inside of the box in front of him. Lincoln had turned his attention toward both of his parents. And was about to ask them about the large box on the floor.
However, both Rita and Lynn Sr. Had sad expansions on their faces. And Lincoln immediately understood why. The box that Lincoln was staring at, was the one that had his childhood past items, inside the large cardboard box on the floor.
Lincoln was not completely sure of himself to grab and open the cardboard box in front of him. He simply continued to stare at it, still unsure to open it and see what was inside of the box.
The Box that both Rita and Lynn Sr. Had witnessed their son was hesitant to open the large cardboard box. They both approached and placed their hands on each side of his shoulders and spoke with a caring voice toward Lincoln.
"Everything that was from your childhood, is inside of that box. Including your drawings." Rita explained to her son. "We haven't opened or even dared to touch that box. not since... since..." Lynn Sr. Was not able to finish his sentence.
Due to great sorrow and painful memories from within the large cardboard box. Lincoln had hugged his father closely. Lynn Sr. immediately returned the hug to his son, as well.
Rita smiled and still had her hand on Lincoln's right shoulder. When the young man with white hair had separated the hug from his father. He took a seat on the wooden floorboard and grabbed the large cardboard box.
Lincoln had opened the box and saw many things that once belonged to him as a child. Both Rita and Lynn Sr. Had held each other close in their arms. while having small tears that fall from their eyes.
Lincoln was searching and holding many objects in his hands. Such as two toy airplanes, a robot action figure toy, a children's fish clock, children's books, three posters, stamp rolls, and two sketches that Lincoln was holding tightly in his hands.
Both sketches are based on the Western cowboy theme. One is a simple stick sketch, with a yellow head and cowboy hat, the right-right has fingers while the left does not, and with cowboy boots on.
While the other sketch was far more impressive in comparison. It resembles a moai statue head with a brown cowboy hat and red poncho. Both sketches were the very first things that Lincoln had drawn as a child.
And were his most precious memories of his old childhood life, from many years ago. As Lincoln was staring at both of the cowboy sketches. He had a short flashback from his lost childhood life.
FLASHBACK FROM MANY YEARS AGO, AS A CHILD.
the young three-year-old Lincoln Loud. Was at the children's table with a piece of Sky-blue drawing paper and a pencil had his right hand. He was drawing a cowboy man for a short amount of time.
And with great difficulty from the process. Lincoln was drawing slowly and with patience, due to trying to make the drawing as well designed as possible. However, it has proven to be more difficult than Lincoln had thought.
He was trying his very best to draw the cowboy man as best as the young toddler was capable of. While drawing his cowboy man sketch on the children's table. His father had arrived and spoke with a happy voice.
"Hey, little buddy. Are you ready to spend time together at the park with Ronnie Anne?" Lynn Sr. Asked with great positivity. "Almost Dada... I was about to finish this drawing for you." Lincoln replied with a smile on his face.
Lynn Sr. Had noticed the simple cowboy stickman sketch on the children's table. And replied to his son with a supportive and positive voice toward the white-haired boy. "It looks great kido." Lynn Sr. said.
"Are you sure Dada? I tried to make something special for you and Mama?" Lincoln replied to his father. "It is special, you made it with passion and determination to draw it." Lynn Sr. Explained with positivity in his voice.
Lincoln was not entirely convinced of his father's words, nor believed it was well done either. The young boy with white hair had simply responded to his father. "Dada... it's not a good drawing, is it?" Lincoln asked.
Lynn Sr. Was rubbing the back of his head and trying to think about what to say to his son, without hurting his feelings. After a brief moment of silence, Lynn Sr. responded as supportive and positive as possible.
"Well... it's not bad... it just needs more time and practice to get better at it. Of course, it's still a good drawing and I like it a lot. And I still think you did well too." Lynn Sr. Explained as well and positively as he could explain to his son.
"Dada, would I someday be good at drawing too?" Lincoln asked his father. "You certainly will kido. Heck, you did better than most kids in your age." Lynn Sr. Said. "Really dada?" Lincoln asked with great curiosity.
"Yup, and I saw how happy and passionate you are at drawing too. You certainly doing well and getting better at it too. And someday, you might be a great artist too." Lynn Sr. Explained with a smile on his face.
Lincoln had smiled at his father and was greatly happy from his supportive words toward the young boy with white hair. Lynn Sr. Had rubbed his son's hair and spoken once again. "You ready to spend time together at the park, kiddo?" Lynn Sr. Asked his son.
"I am. I just got to finish my cowboy drawing first, is that ok Dada?" Lincoln asked his father. "Sure thing little buddy, we have plenty of time right now. Take your time and don't rush on your drawing." Lynn Sr. Explained with a calm voice.
Lincoln was trying to finish his drawing with more patience and a slower pace. Without rushing or making too many mistakes in the process. Lynn Sr. Was watching his son, drawing his cowboy sketch with passion and determination.
And seeing how happy he currently was. Lynn Sr. Felt great happiness toward his son, as well as being calm and positive nature as a child for his current age. Lynn Sr. Had remained silent and did not Interrupt his son's work at the cowboy drawing.
When Lincoln had finished with his cowboy sketch. he spoke and immediately showed his father, his hard work at the cowboy drawing to him. "All done, Dada... what you think of my cowboy drawing?" Lincoln asked with great curiosity from his father's response.
Lynn Sr. Had taken his son's cowboy drawing and properly observed it. Despite being a simple stickman sketch with a Western-themed. He was very impressed with his son's drawing and hard work. Lynn Sr. Had spoken to Lincoln with a proud voice toward his son.
"It's great and well done, kido." Lynn Sr. Said. "You think it needs to be better still?" Lincoln asked with curiosity. "It's pretty good the drawing. But I know and believe that you'll make great drawings one day, you just have to keep trying and practice more." Lynn Sr. Explained in hopes of motivating his son more.
"I will Dada. And I'll make you and Mama something special one day. That you two will remember and be proud of, too." Lincoln explained with great happiness. Lynn Sr. Had hugged his son tightly and was greatly happy as well. Lincoln immediately returned the hug as well.
When Lynn Sr. Had separated the hug with his son. He helped Lincoln get up from the children's table and seat. and held his son's right hand with his right free hand, while holding the cowboy drawing with his left hand.
When Lincoln was properly placed on the floor, his right hand was held by his father's right hand. Lynn Sr. Spoke while still having a smile on his face. "Let's go to the park now and show both Ronnie Anne and her parents, your drawing to both of them too. I know they will love it too." Said Lynn Sr.
"Oki Doki, Dada... I hope Mama will like my drawing too?" Lincoln replied to his father. "She will love it a lot too. And Mama will be very proud of you too, like I am right now." Lynn Sr. Explained to his son.
Lincoln smiled once again and followed close to his father's side. Being more dedicated and motivated to continue the path of art, as well as having both of his parents happy for him.
Lincoln believed that one day, he would draw many beautiful and well-designed drawings in the future. And continued to have his parents love and support him more. At every step of the way, to a bright future.
FLASHBACK END.
Lincoln's mind had returned to the world of reality. After reflecting on one of his many most precious memories as a child and being together with his parents.
He held both sketches tightly and against his chest, holding a precious memory from his heart. And not wanting to lose it again either, as well as having his parents close by to him.
Both Rita and Lynn Sr. Had taken a seat right next to their son. and hugged him tightly, knowing well what was on Lincoln's mind currently. The young man with white hair had turned to face his parents. and immediately hugged both of his parents, back.
Rita and Lynn Sr. Felt great happiness in their hearts, both seeing and holding their long-lost son, after so many years of not seeing, hearing or even touching him. As well as hugging their son in a warm and loving hug.
Both Rita and Lynn Sr. Were very sad, yet happy at the same time. Being reunited with their firstborn child again. despite not seeing Lincoln growing up as the young man that he had become.
Being reunited and truly having their son, back in both of their lives. As well as truly spending time and seeing their son succeed in life, was more than enough for both of them. Neither Rita nor Lynn Sr. Could not ask for any more in life. then to have their long-lost son in their lives once again.
When both Rita and Lynn Sr. Had separated from the hug with their son. Lynn Sr. Spoke with a calm, yet emotional voice. "Those sketches brought so many bad memories. I tried to keep it where it used to be. But neither I nor your Mother was able to handle it... the grief was too much on both of us." Lynn Sr. Explained with sorrow.
"Ever since we first lost you... looking at your old things, made us cry and heartbroken. But your sisters had it worse than us... we all broke down and cried, and we couldn't let your sisters suffer either. We didn't have the strength or courage to look at your things anymore. So we had to... had to..." Rita was not able to finish her sentence.
Due to being in a great state of sorrow. Lincoln had felt great pity toward both of his parents, as well as the great hardships that his family had to endure for a long amount of time. Lincoln had simply hugged both of his parents, once again.
And spoke with a caring and supportive voice, in hopes of helping make them both feel better from their great sorrow. And to give them both the strength to face their greatest fears and burdens from within their hearts.
"It's ok... I understand how hard it was for you all. What matters now is to keep moving forward, and be a united family again. You guys and everyone here at Royal Woods, won't Lose me again. I promise as long as I live." Lincoln explained with great passion and love toward his parents.
Both Rita and Lynn Sr. immediately returned the hug to their beloved son, once again. Having tears in their eyes and being filled with great happiness in their hearts. As well as knowing that they will not lose their son, ever again.
When both Rita and Lynn Sr. Had separated the hug with their son, once again. They spoke with great happiness in their voices. "Sweetie... let's head back downstairs and spend more time together as a united family again. There's so much more to catch up on everything that happened here at Royal Woods." Rita explained.
"Plus you should spend more time together with your sisters and friends. They deserve to spend time with you and share their life achievements too." Lynn Sr. Explained with a smile on his face.
Lincoln smiled once again and replied to both of his parents. "That's a good idea. I spent some time together with the new ones, they are very nice and polite. sort of..." Lincoln explained.
"Have you talked with them? And did they tell you about their... not-so-well moments in the past?" Rita asked with curiosity. "They did. I gave all five of them some lectures, and it was pretty long too." Lincoln replied to his mother.
"How long... exactly?" Lynn Sr. Asked with great curiosity toward his son. "About a few minutes, maybe an hour?" Lincoln explained. Both Rita and Lynn Sr. were amazed at how long the lecture between their firstborn son, and all five of their youngest daughters had gone to each other.
Not only did Lincoln had already bonded with his new five sisters. But he had already Lectured them for a long amount of time. Both parents were very impressed with their son, and his ability to multi-task on many things at once.
Lincoln had once again spoken with a calm voice toward both of his parents. "I have a question. Should I take my old stuff with me, or leave it here?" Lincoln asked. Both Rita and Lynn Sr. Had brought their attention to their son, again.
Lynn Sr. Was the first to answer back to his son. "I think you should take them all, with you son. It's your childhood stuff and you deserve to have them with you. Both memories and your rightful things to keep with you." Lynn Sr explained.
"Your Father is right. You should keep them with you. It's a part of you, and your most precious memories too." Said Rita. Lincoln had looked at both of his childhood sketches and many other things from inside the large cardboard box.
He felt it was wrong to take away his childhood things from his old home and family. After a few seconds of silence. Lincoln had replied to both of his parents again. "Actually... I'll leave my old stuff here, where it belongs." Said Lincoln.
Both Rita and Lynn Sr. Were confused about their son's sudden response. They simply spoke to Lincoln again. and asked for information about his sudden change of mind. "Are you sure sweetie? You can take your old stuff with you, it's not a problem with us at all." Rita explained to her son.
"Your mother is right. You don't have to leave your most precious memories here. You have every right to take what is yours, without feeling like you are taking away something very important here." Lynn Sr. Also explained to his son.
"But I am... this stuff should stay here. and be with many beautiful memories here together, too. I can't do it. It's not right to take away the most precious memories from you guys and to this house. Especially if you all want to see it again and hold on to these memories too." Lincoln explained with great Desperation toward his parents.
Lincoln had placed the sketches on top of everything that was inside the cardboard box. And placed it where it was before. Both Rita and Lynn Sr. Were amazed to see their son, placing the cardboard box, back to It's precious place again.
Lynn Sr. Was the first to speak to Lincoln, about his reason for placing the cardboard box away. "Are you sure, Lincoln? I'm glad you want to Preserve your childhood memories here. But you don't have to do that, just for us?" Lynn Sr. asked his son.
"I'm sure Dad. It's for the best and you guys deserve to keep it all here, more than me. I want to leave my things here and keep all the good memories here, in one place for the whole family to remember and see together." Lincoln explained with a smile on his face.
Rita had held her husband's hand and spoke with a happy voice to him. "I think Lincoln is right. Having his old childhood things here is a good place to keep the whole family's memories here. It's good for everyone here, especially for our first five daughters. They deserve to see and share their childhood memories here too." Rita explained to her husband.
Lynn Sr. Had reflected deeply on what his wife and son, had said to him. And Understood very well of their words. Lynn Sr. Simply spoke with a calm and happy voice.
"Alright... I understand and respect your decision, son. It's very nice to see and share this very moment with you. Both me and your mother are very happy and proud of you, Lincoln. This is the best day that we all ever had in our lives." Lynn Sr. Explained while being emotional.
Lincoln had hugged both of his parents once again, as well as having small tears that fall from his eyes. Both Rita and Lynn Sr. Immediately returned the hug, being emotional and with tears in their eyes as well.
They hugged each other for a short amount of time. Once the son and parents had separated from their tight hug, they stood back up and wiped the dust away from themselves.
Rita had spoken to her son with a mother's love and support voice to the young man with white hair. "Let's head back downstairs now. I think everyone is waiting and might be a little worried about us. being away for a short amount of time?" Rita explained to her son.
"Good idea, Mom. I don't want everyone to get too worried about us. Plus we should spend more time together in one place now." Lincoln replied. "Say, son. Instead of heading back to your new house Immediately, you should spend another night here with all of us, again." Lynn Sr. Explained to his son with a reasonable voice.
"I don't know, Dad. I should set up my new home as soon as possible. I don't want to take up some space here, just for me." Lincoln explained with a concerned voice.
Lincoln in his heart. Wanted to stay at his family's house and even stay there Permanently. But he had known that it was not possible to do so. Due to being a grown man and taking up more space and a family budget from them all. Just to stay at his oldest and most precious home as a child.
However, Lincoln knew it was for the best. And he had to both live his life and be independent of himself. To provide more assistance to his friends and family, as well as to do more good for everyone around him, and especially to himself.
Rita had spoken to Lincoln, again. With the same voice as a mother who cares about her child deeply. "Not at all, sweetie. You will never take up space here. This house will always be your home. No matter how old, or how far away you are, from all of us. You are always very welcome here." Rita explained with a supportive and loving voice.
Lincoln's heavy heart was lifted and, felt more positive from his mother's kind words toward him. He smiled at his parents and all the worried and sad thoughts from within his mind. had quickly vanished into either nothing or less of a burden to him.
The young man with white hair had spoken with a positive tone in his voice. "I know Mom. I would love that and I'm happy to know that too." Lincoln replied with a happy voice. Rita was also happy with her son's response to her.
"We can all help you at your new house later on. For now, let's enjoy this family reunion and spend more time together. There's plenty of time for everything else. You deserve a good rest and being together with your sisters and friends more." Lynn Sr. Explained with a positive and supportive voice.
"That's a great idea, Dad. To be honest... I like to spend more time with you all. At least, a little while longer, if possible?" Lincoln explained from his heart. "Don't worry, Lincoln. You have a lot of time for that too. Heck, you, your sisters, and your friends are going to probably spend a lot more time together now. Especially More than ever before." Said Lynn Sr.
"Plus... I also have to meet with their friends too. Carol and Margo are one of them, then there are a few new faces to meet too." Lincoln explained. "Oh right... I almost forgot about that, we all had planned for that too." Lynn Sr. Immediately remembered about his daughter's friends.
"We decided to have a panic in a park together and to have everyone or Many of their friends together in one place if possible. To have them all meet you for the first time, or some like Carol, to see you again. After so many long years of being gone from us, and in Royal Woods." Rita explained her long speech to her son.
Lincoln knew that it would be a long reunion in Royal Woods. However, he was more than ready to take the next step in his life. And fully complete his long journey of reconnection.
The young man with white hair had simply replied to his parents with a positive tone in his voice. "Well... I came this far and everything went well. So I guess another step of this little adventure, wouldn't hurt to take. It will be nice to see Carol and Margo again. Plus all the new friends, the girls had made too." Lincoln explained.
"I think you will get along with them nicely, sweetie. Well... later on, maybe?" Said Rita with great concern in her voice. "I am sure everything will go smoothly, honey. There's only one way to find out. We should start taking a single step, little by little. That's all we can do, at the moment right now." Lynn Sr. Explained to his wife.
"Dad is right. But let's not worry about it for right now. There's plenty of time for that, too. Let's worry about it later now, and just enjoy everything right now instead." Lincoln replied with a positive tone in his voice.
Both Rita and Lynn Sr. Were very proud of Lincoln's maturity and calm personality. As well being as a carefree and positive young man. Who thinks of reasonable ideas and acts accordingly.
Just as both of the Loud parents were about to speak with their son, again. Lincoln had once again spoken to both Rita and Lynn Sr. "Alright, Mom and Dad. I think we talked about this enough. Let's head back downstairs and enjoy the family reunion. Before everyone gets worried about us." Lincoln explained to both of his parents.
Both Rita and Lynn Sr. immediately realized how much time had passed. As well as taking everything that their son, had said to them both in heart. Not wanting their friends and loved ones, to become greatly concerned for them.
Due to being away from them all, and being in the house's attic for a long amount of time. Agreeing with everything that their son, had explained to both of them.
They simply replied with an Approved tone in their voices. "Good thing that you remind both of us, about it. We should go back downstairs, and just spend a great time together right now." Lynn Sr. Spoke with a voice of agreement.
"Also... we should plan to have a family meal together as well. Just all of us, together at the dining table. I would love that greatly and want to have all of my children in one place, just like before." Rita explained with great emotion in her voice.
Lincoln had once again hugged his mother. And spoke with a happy voice to her. "I would love that too, I want to have a meal at the dining table with all of you, together too." Said Lincoln.
Once again. Both parents and son hugged each other closely. Enjoying the family moment together. When they had separated from each other. They had made their way back downstairs.
When the Loud parents and son, had left the House's attic. Lynn Sr. Had placed the stairs inside the attic's entrance, back to its previous place again.
Returning it to its former self. Rita and Lynn Sr. Had gone downstairs first, while Lincoln was closed behind them both. Just as he was about to set foot on the staircase to the lower level of the house.
He took one last look at the attic's entrance. And reflected on everything that had happened and said before, inside the the House's attic. After a few seconds of silence and staring at the house's attic.
Lincoln had brought his attention forward and went straight downstairs as well. Joining behind his parents and being together with everyone, at the lower level of the Loud House.
Everything that was in Lincoln's mind currently. Was just being there for everyone, and being a part of their lives, once again. Lincoln did not regret how everything was currently going on his end.
Nor wish to lose his family, friends, and entirely new life again. All that was in Lincoln's mind currently. Was just being downstairs and being with everyone around him. And living his life to the very fullest. As much as he currently can.
