Alix's  POV:

   She sighs.  "The doctor and nurse better have some good news today."

    She does not want Max to tickle her again, but she also wishes to get out of the hospital.  The place is cold, stuffy, and such a bore. 

    "No more television reruns!" She shouted at the top of her lungs.

     The nurse enters the room.  "Good news, Alix Kubel, the doctor says you may go home now. However, he wants you to wait until the end of the week to return to school."

          Alix is so excited she grins big.  "Thank you so much!"

           She waits until the nurse leaves the room to get dressed. Once in her real clothes, she sighs.  

             "It is nice to be out of that hideous hospital gown."

             "Alix, come on, let's get you home."

             She turns around at the sound of a familiar voice.

         Alix nods her head in agreement.  Max grabs her hand.

            "Got everything?"

           "I think so."

             "I got a key to get in once we get there."

              "How?  Spill, now."

              "The day you came in, I found you passed out in your home. I came over to see you and saw the key under the doormat as usual. So, I let myself in and found you unconscious in your room."

               "You are the one who took me to the hospital?"  Alix's eyes widen in surprise. She always thought it was her father who rescued her.

                "Well, yes."

              "Oh, thank you."

            "No sweat, now let's go."

             Max drives her home while she relaxes in the passenger side of his car. Once there, he gently parks the car, removes the keys, assists her, and locks the door. He walks her to the door of her house.

          "Alright, listen you have been through a lot, so I better go now."

          "How will I get in touch with you?"

          "Here, take it,"  Max hands her a sheet of paper with his number on it.

           Max leaves after he sees the door shut and hears the bolt slide in place. He smiles as he heads back home. Some things never change.
