Valentine's Day!
Time skip to that night.
Max came and picked up Alix. Alix smiled as she locked the door. This time, she had left one spare key behind a shrub, and she figured Max had the other spare key.
They arrived at the dance together and walked hand in hand.
The other smiled. "Awe, it is so great to see you. You two are together, right?"
"Yes, we are," Max said.
One of the new boys glared at Max.
"We will just see about that," He said.
Max and Alix danced. Alix felt so happy. Max did too.
How long would it last?
The new boy turned off the lights. Then, he announced " Due to a strange mix-up, my queen arrived here with another boy. That was a huge mistake, Alix!"
Suddenly without warning the fire alarms went off, the place was filled with smoke, and as people fled screaming, the bad boy grabbed Alix in all the commotion.
Max was livid. How dare that boy take Alix from him.
He was not leaving without a fight. He charged at the boy as the guy shoved Alix into the principal's office.
Max hit the guy with a chair. The creep fell, but when he stood up he was more full of badness than before. "No one leaves here with the girl, except me." He sneered.
"She is not yours," Max argued.
"We will just see about that," The Badie stated.
He pulled out a knife and plunged it into Max's chest. He grazed the heart, and Max was badly wounded. He felt weak and collapsed as blood oozed from the wound.
Alix screamed as she kicked the door to the principal's office open and saw Max on the ground.
"How dare you. You didn't have to kill him," She said.
"Awe is the girl sad that her pathetic boyfriend is dead," He scoffed.
Alix saw the creep remove the weapon from Max's chest. She saw him charge at her next. "If I can't have you no one can, I will see to it, that you go down too if you dare to try anything," He blurted out.
"You are deranged. You need help," Alix said.
"I am not insane, you are if you think you can defy me," he argued.
He yanked her hair.
"That is enough!" Alix yelled at him. She struggled with him for the knife. She wore gloves but the bad boy did not.
She managed to get it away from him after he cut her arm with it.
"Ouch, that hurt!" Alix screamed.
Max felt weak and felt as if his life might fade away. Alix put the knife on top of one of the lockers where the creep could not reach it.
"Not fight fair, " She said.
"Nothing is fair, in the game of love, war, and hate," He sneered.
"You know nothing of love," She said.
"Oh, yeah, I wrote the letters which came later than the rest. I was meant to be with you, not Max," He whined.
"Shut up!" Alix yelled. She was sick and tired of the creep's talk, and of him in general. She could not believe he tried to kill Max.
"Max was always there for me no matter what. He loves me, and you are nothing but a loose wire," Alix spat out.
She had managed to bandage her arm with the scraps from her sweater which she had removed and ripped.
She ran to Max and used the rest of the scraps to bandage him.
"W-watch out, Alix!" Max said before he lost consciousness.
Alix turned around and saw the bad boy run towards her this time with a rope.
"Nope, I don't think, so this time I win!" Alix sneered as she took the knife off the locker and stabbed the boy as he attempted to strangle her with the rope.
"w-why, Alix?" He stuttered as he fell dead.
The rope was still in his hand.
Alix ran back to Max. She sobbed because his breathes were uneven. She thought she might lose him.
"Max, don't leave me. You can't I love you."
Another student who had managed to call for help led the paramedics to where Max and Alix were. They got Max out of there to the ambulance and Alix followed.
She insisted on getting into it with him.
The medics did not tell her she could not when they saw how distraught she looked.
The firefighters got the fire out before it spread too much. They also found a confession note from the bad boy. It fell out of his pocket when Alix killed him in self-defense.
Alix wept as she held his hand. "Max, wake up, please. It is Valentine's Day. It is our special day, you can't leave me not like this."
Max opened his eyes. "A-Alix?" He said softly.
"Yes, I am here, " She said.
Max and Alix arrived at the hospital where the nurses and doctors took Max back for surgery.
Another doctor examined Alix's wound, stitched it up, and gave her a fresh bandage. "You are fortunate woman, you should count yourself blessed that the bad guy did not heat an artery or a blood vessel." He said.
"Oh, yeah, what about my boyfriend? He has a chest wound no thanks to that good for nothing, #$%&#!" Alix said.
She waited for Max to come out of surgery.
"Miss Kubel?"
"Yes, tell me it is good news," She pleaded.
"It is good news. Surgery was successful, he will recover, but it may take some time."
"May I see him, now?" Alix wanted to know.
"yes, you may." The doctor said as he showed her into Max's hospital room.
"Hi, Max," Alix said.
"Alix!" Max said.
"Are you okay, Alix?" Max asked.
"Yes, I am fine, it was barely a scratch," She said. She cringed a little from the pain.
"Well, I almost died and ..." Max began.
"Shh, don't you ever do that again, you big dummy," Alix said. She gently hugged him. She kissed him next.
Max returned the kiss.
Alix knew then, everything was going to be okay.
Time skip!
One year later, it had been a year since that brutal attempt on Max's life, but Alix and him were happy. After his release from the hospital, Max proposed to Alix and she said yes.
They had a private little ceremony today. They felt it was appropriate after all they had been through.
"Happy Valentine's day, love," Max said.
"Same to you, Max," Alix said.
The two were now on their honey moon. Alix was grateful the badie had lost because she would not be here with Max otherwise.
Max was glad too because he was glad to be with his beloved Alix.
"I need to change the locks on my door when we get back," Alix said.
"Don't you mean our door?" Max asked. He had agreed to move in with her once they returned from the honeymoon.
"Yes, darling," Alix remarked.
Alix and Max kissed as they relaxed in the pool looking up at the stars in the night sky.
The end...
bye-bye, little owlets!
Summer out!
