Chapter 11

Author's Note: I know it has been ages since the last update.  I hope you enjoy it.

Sincerely,

Alix's  POV:

It had been two days since she came home from the hospital.

She checked the mail and almost dropped it.

There was one envelope with no return address or clue to its sender on it. Yet, sure enough in bold red letters were the words, "Alix Kubel."

She went inside and set the rest of the mail aside. She opened the letter.

   Dear Alix,

She read.

As she read the rest tears filled her eyes. Why had not her father told her the truth about the dress?

Her secret admirer had given it to her and he let her think he had.

Goodness, she felt so bad that she hadn't gotten him anything. Then, again, how could she when she had no idea as to his identity?

Also, why did part of the letters sound different than the others? Could it be he had multiple personalities? Was that the answer or were there multiple secret admirers?

She shuddered to think that more than one person could have sent the notes.  At the same time that might explain a few things.

She wished she knew about the dried rose petals. Why had not he said anything about them?

Could it be he had left them there by mistake?  Maybe, he had planned to leave them in her room at all.

She felt like there were so many unanswered questions in her head.

At 2 pm that day, she called the number Max had given her. She smiled when she heard his voice but frowned when she realized it had gone to voice message.

"H-hi, Max, it is me, Alix!  I was hoping we could talk."

She hung up after she left the short message.

Little did she know what was about to happen next.

    "Alix, Alix?"

She heard a tap sound on her back door. Odd, no one usually came to that door not even her father did as he respected her privacy. So, who could it be?

She looked out the peephole and gasped.

She opened it to find another envelope, a vase full of flowers, and a small bracelet.

      Huh, who had sent them?

She brought the stuff inside, shut the door, and made sure it was locked tight.

She ripped open the envelope and screamed.

Inside were more red-dried rose petals.

She set the vase on the counter careful not to smash the flowers. The bracelet she took a closer look at it.

"To Alix Kubel, my dearest and sincerest love." These were the words engraved on the small little back section of the bracelet.

"L-Love, but who could have sent all these things?"

Alix left the house without a word, but she left a note in case Max stopped by. She had no idea what made her think he might, but she left the note anyway.

She went to the park and sat on a bench. She felt tears from the lost memories fall from her eyes.

When she looked up there was a poem on her lap.

             "Oh, Valentine,

              I wish you were mine,

            My dear sweet Alix,

I tried to tell you once,

           but it never worked out.

I am sorry that I am so stinking shy,

I bet you think I am a silly guy,

       But I love you.

I have loved you as far as I can remember.

        So, my Valentine,

Please say you will be mine.

         My Valentine,

        My love,

      My dearest, Alix,

     Love me true:

And make my greatest Valentine's wish come true."

She noticed it had no names on it either.

What? Her secret admirer had gotten close enough to leave it and she had missed him.

She looked at her phone. The date read Feb. 12, 2026.

Great it was already two days before the next Valentine's Day and she still could not remember a thing from a year ago besides getting the secret admirer's note and going home. She recalled a lost Valentine, but who had she meant to give it too?  Oh, why could not she remember?

The story continues in Chapter 12

            Until then,

      bye-bye, little owlets!

Summer out!

-Happy Valentine's Day!
