Chapter Two
Coming face to face with a stranger who held an automatic pistol in his chest was not the way he wanted to picture his weekend. Jared had a hard time trying to think of a comeback or if he could he'd fight the stranger but how could he do that when she was right in front of him and even a single step could mean that his life would be over before he knew it.
"Have I not made myself clear?" Lauren warned. "Hand me the ring now or I'll put a bullet through your chest. Poor Jensen won't know how to react." Protectively, Jared's hands went to his chest, clutching the ring and holding onto it for dear life. Jared backed away slowly, keeping his hands in the air, but each move he stepped back gave Lauren the chance to step forward. In the corner of his eye, Jared saw the kitchen counter and while it wouldn't keep him protected, he had no other options. Jared bee-lined for the counter. However, Lauren shot at him in fear, Jared jumped over and hid behind the counter, bullets bounced off harmlessly. Jared never thought that the ring was so important that Lauren would kill him just to get her hands on it. Even his brother sounded like the ring was dangerous. It was the only thing that his brother gave him. Jared searched his apartment for a way out, there were three options for him to take: either jump out his window and risk getting hurt, race to his bedroom and lock himself in so he could call the police, or race passed Lauren while bullets were being shot at him and run through the front door. Neither of those options were any good. "Come on Jared," Lauren laughed. "Don't hide, all I want is that ring. Then maybe I'll let you live."
Jared watched from behind the counter and witnessed Lauren walk right by him and into his bedroom. Now that wasn't an option anymore. Seeing his chance, Jared got up from behind the counter and made a break for the door. Suddenly, shots rang out, bang! Bang! Jared almost got hit by the bullets before he dove behind the couch. Thinking that he won't make it out alive, he tried to think about what he could do before a loud snap! And Lauren shrieking, Jared stood and saw his brother standing by the door, dressed in an adventuristic outfit almost like Indiana Jones, along with the brown hat. Jensen had this smirk on his face. Lauren ran for her gun but with another flick of his brother's whip, the gun no longer lay on the floor. It landed on Jensen's hand with ease.
"Leave my brother alone, you bitch!" Jensen yelled.
"Jensen Ackles," Lauren said. "Did you seriously think you could take me on?"
"We're after the same thing, Lauren," Jensen responded. "Now, leave or I will shoot." Lauren glared at Jensen. At first Jared couldn't figure out what his brother was going to do or if he was going to let her walk. His questions were answered when Lauren took off, but paused halfway to her car and turned around.
"Watch yourself Jensen," Lauren said. "You know how your adventures turn out. I'll win." Lauren smirked and got into her car before driving away.
"Why are you here, Jensen? What's so special about this ring that you and Lauren want it so desperately?" Jared asked.
"No, thank you?" Jensen asked, raising an eyebrow and removed his . "I just saved your life."
"You expect me to say thank you?" Jared demanded. "She came for this stupid ring you gave me!" he yanked the necklace from his neck and held it up. "Why did she want it?! What's so special?" Jensen remained calm, unable to say anything without blowing up on him.
"That ring is the key to the lost treasure of Yamashita." Jensen answered. "I just got told that I could go on this adventure, but I need the ring to do it." Jensen reached over to grab it, but Jared held the ring away from him.

Jensen did his best to remain calm, but he was close to blowing up on his brother. No matter what he did, Jared always was the stubborn one. Jensen crossed his arms, waiting for Jared to stop acting like a kid and start acting like a twenty-two-year-old.
"Forget it, if you want this ring, I'm going with you." Jared said stuffing the necklace into his pocket.
"It's too dangerous." Jensen responded instantly.
"Well too bad, I'm going with you." Jared responded. Jensen hesitated but even though he wanted to try and convince his brother otherwise, it didn't exactly matter. At the end of the day, Jared had his mind going in one direction. Jensen's stomach churned, everything that he wanted to keep his brother safe from the outside world and from people like Lauren didn't seem to come to his mind after that.
"Fine, Jared, you better suit up. We're heading to the Philippines." Jared walked away to get his shoes but Jensen only felt more uneasy. He stared out the window at the opposite end of the street expecting Lauren to be sitting there. Thoughts circled his mind knowing full well that Lauren wouldn't give up that easily. If his brother ended up dying for his own personal gain then there would be nothing but sorrow. Jensen would blame himself like he always did, to him he wasn't sure how his parents treated Jared when he left, guess he'll have to find out then. Jared finally finished getting ready and the two brothers left the apartment making their way to Jensen's 1967 impala. He heard Jared chuckle as the two got into the car. Jensen and Jared drove toward the nearest airport in silence. It had been years since the two spoke and neither of them bothered to say anything. Jensen had a guess that his brother was probably thinking the same thing.
"Where have you been all these years Jensen?" Jared asked breaking the silence. Jensen glanced at his brother then focused all his attention on the road before them.
"What do you mean?" Jensen asked. "Jared, you know where I've been. Didn't you get the letters?"
"I did, but I refused to read them." Jared answered.
"Look, I was on an expedition, searching for the Jackals. I found it, but I lost it to Lauren." Jensen responded.
"How could you lose to her?" Jared asked determined to learn more.
"She always find me before I can get my artifact to a museum!" Jensen exclaimed. "Can you blame me?" Jared went silent, the two were unable to say. Jensen always gave promises that he couldn't keep. The long amount of silence came before they finally arrived at the airport. Jensen parked his car and the brothers got out. Jensen had a specific plane ready which would help them get halfway across the world. He'd hired a professional pilot and the man was ready to go. The brothers arrived at a small seaplane which caused Jared's mouth to drop open.
"You can't be serious!" Jared exclaimed. "A seaplane?!" Jensen shrugged, claiming that it was because the ocean surrounded the Philippines so it gave them more of an upper hand. Despite Jared mentioning that a regular plane would work too, Jensen ignored him and the two got on the plane. "Jensen, I swear, if this is anything like Indiana Jones, I'm going to kill you."
"You know that's literally what my life has been like, right?" Jensen responded as the plane took off.
