Summary: Dr. Indiana Jones is after the lost Ark of the Covenant. Before he embarks on another grand adventure, takes Marcus' advice and seeks more information. Just down the hall of the school, he finds his answers.

Notes: Dr. Anna Wood is an OC of mine. Because I do not like to mess with canon too much, she is making a short cameo in the story and not joining him on this quest. Fun fact: Her name was inspired by two characters: IndiANA Jones and Marion RavenWOOD. *All the history is true. Source: The New Living Translation of the Holy Bible.

Bag in hand and coat draped over his arm, Indiana Jones knocked on an office door with the name Dr. Anna Wood painted on the glass. He smiled proudly at the print as he waited for his former student to answer the door.

It opened, revealing a young woman in her early twenties. Her long brown braids fell down her chest. They almost melted into the dark, smart dress that hugged her figure, reminding Indy of one of the dresses she often wore to his classes. Her warm brown eyes lit up as she recognized her old teacher standing in the hallway.

"Dr. Jones!" she exclaimed, opening the door wider to give him room to enter. "What a pleasant surprise!"

"Hello, Dr. Wood," Indiana greeted, emphasizing her title with a smile. "You've come a long way from the classroom."

Anna glanced at his bag and traveling suit. "On another grand adventure, Dr. Jones? Are you here on business?"

Indy leaned forward on her desk on his knuckles. A sly grin and mischievous light danced in his eyes like when he was about to announce his latest archaeological find to his fans in the classroom. A familiar excitement fluttered in her stomach like it would when she was a girl on the edge of her seat, expecting a marvelous tale that would chase away any doubt in her dream of becoming an archaeologist.

"I'm off to find the Ark of the Covenant."

Her hand flew to her mouth and her eyes widened. "Dr. Jones, that's... wow."

"I fly to Nepal today to collect a piece I need to find it. I was hoping you could give me some more information."

Anna approached her library and pulled from the shelves several books. One of them Indy recognized as the Holy Bible bound in leather, probably in the original Hebrew.

"Out of curiosity, why come to me? I am still new to this and a number of professors here could give you the information I'm certain you already have."

"You're right. I probably do have everything I need. But it never hurt anyone to double check with a reliable source."

Anna smirked and raised an eyebrow. She set her books down on her oak desk and opened her Bible. They both put on their reading glasses.

"And I'm a reliable source because of my religion?"

"Faith or fact, it doesn't matter when it comes to an artifact of this power."

Anna pressed her palms against her desk as the two archaeologists hovered over their maps, books, and clues.

"First of all, the Ark itself has no power. Because Christ had not yet come, man and God were separated. Now He can live within us, but back then, His literal presence was carried with them in the Ark of the Covenant. When the Israelites carried the Ark into battle, they were taking God with them."

"So the Nazi's want the power of God on their side," Indiana mused, flipping through his former student's Bible.

Anna raised an eyebrow. "You failed to mention that."

"Yeah, that's why I have to find it first. What else do you got?"

"Only the priest from the tribe of Levi was able to come before God," she continued. "They were prepared for this responsibility: to intercede for the people. Whoever tries to open it may try to play the part."

"Outsmarting God? Sounds like the arrogant, stupid thing the Nazi's would do."

"There were three other rules that came with the Ark: Do not touch it, do not open it, and carry it with the strength of men."

The young woman gently flipped the pages until she found 2 Samuel 6.

"When David moved the capital to Jerusalem, he took the Ark with him on a cart pulled by oxen. Because it was not carried by men by it's poles, the oxen stumbled and a man named Uzzah tried to steady the Ark. He touched it and was struck dead. David called the place Perezuzzah..."

"To burst out against Uzzah," Indy translated.

Anna nodded. "And King David moved the Ark to the house of Obed-edom where it remained for three months. Then it was taken to the City of David, carried properly."

Anna turned some pages back until she found 1 Samuel 6:19 and read aloud, "But the Lord killed seventy men from Beth-shemesh because they looked into the Ark of the Lord. And the people mourned greatly because of what the Lord had done."

"So don't look and don't touch. Got it." Indy removed his glasses and smirked at his former student. "Let's hope the Nazi's don't know that."

Anna removed her own glasses and followed the excited archaeologist to her office door.

"You are welcome to come with me, if you'd like."

"Thank you, Dr. Jones, but you shouldn't worry. When the Philistines stole the Ark from the Israelites, they put it in the temple of one of their gods. When they returned, the idol was struck down by the power of God. When they opened it, as I have already read, seventy men were killed. God does not choose sides, professor, He is on His own side. No matter what the Nazis believe, they are not on His side. You need to ask yourself whose side you are on."

She opened the door as Indy collected his things and placed his hat on his head. "Although I would love to find the Ark of the Lord, it is something I believe I do not need to uncover, like how the resting place of Moses is unmarked so that no one can worship him as a god. Besides, someone needs to substitute while you are away, if you will permit me."

Indiana smiled and tipped his hat gratefully. "You are more than welcome, Dr. Wood."

"Good luck, Dr. Jones," his former student called after him. "May God bless your honorable quest to find the lost Ark!"
