Chp 3

"Liana! Come on, let's go," Sam yells at the bottom of the stairs. The two of them were going to go to the Boardwalk and hang out. Sam wanted to check out the comic bookstore again since he will have more time. Liana whooshed downstairs, scaring Sam when she appeared behind him. "Aaahhhh!" Sam screamed. Liana giggled as Sam held his chest trying to calm his heart down, "Don't do that."

Lucy shook her head as she entered the room, "You guys. Come on or I'm going to be late." Lucy was starting work today at the video store. The three of them piled into Lucy's car and took off towards the Boardwalk, leaving Michael on his own. Mike will ride his dirt bike to the beach later then hang out on the Boardwalk.

Sam and Liana entered the comic book shop, Sam was looking for a particular comic while Liana was browsing the shelves. The Frog brothers watched them both, curious about the newcomers. When Edgar noticed Sam shifting comics around, he approached, "What are you doing?" Sam turned to face Edgar, "Who organizes these? They are nowhere near in the order they're supposed to be." Sam turned back to the display he was standing in front of and put the comics in the correct order.

Liana smirked as she walked closer to Sam. She didn't like the look the frog brothers were giving Sam. "Alright, Sam. I think you've done enough. Let's go get something to eat." Alan came over to stand next to his brother with a sneer on his face, "Who are you?" Liana stood in front of the Frog brothers, "I'm Liana. Sam is my brother. And I have a problem with being stared at. So why don't you two go back to work and stop harassing customers." She continued to stare both of them down until they walked away. As Alan turned to walk away, he could have sworn he saw Liana flash her fangs. But that's impossible, the sun was up. Liana couldn't be a vampire, could she?

Sam and Liana spent the day exploring the shops, even going into the video store and saying hi to Lucy. They had brought Lucy some chicken tenders and fries for lunch, so Lucy didn't have to waste her lunch break in line for food. Once the sun set, Mike had finally joined them on the Boardwalk. He was mostly hanging out with them to check on Sam, knowing Liana can take care of herself.

Later in the night, Liana had split from her 'brothers' to search for a snack. She wanted fresh blood tonight. So, Liana walked along the boardwalk by herself, leaving Sam in the comic shop once again. A smirk crept on her face that would resemble her brother, Damon, as she came upon a young woman who was by herself. Liana compelled the girl to follow her to a darkened alley and sank her fangs into her neck. Before the girl's heart stopped, Liana pulled away, healed the girl and compelled her to forget what happened.

Sam wanted to ask the Frog brothers why they seem to have a problem with him and Liana. Instead of answering, Alan asked him a question, "Your sister? What is she?" Sam was confused, "What do you mean?" Edgar chimed in, "Is she human?" Sam scoffed, "Yes, she's human. What's wrong with you two?" Again, instead of answering, Edgar shoves a comic into Sam's chest. "Here, read this. It could save your life," Edgar says as he waits for Sam to grasp the comic. Looking at the cover, Sam laughs, "Vampires Everywhere." He tries to give it back, "Sorry, but I don't read horror comics." Edgar pushes it back towards Sam, "Keep it. Our number is on the back. Call us if anything weird happens, but pray you never need to call us."

Sam could see Liana approaching the comic shop, so he just took the comic and left. Liana can see he was irritated, "You okay?" Sam showed her the comic. Liana froze for a second but then she noticed the brothers staring at her. "Why do you have this? You hate horror comics," Liana saw Alan stop Edgar from coming over to them. Sam ran a hand through his hair, "They practically shoved it at me. Saving it could save my life." She was surprised to find Sam was not angry, just confused. She remembers the last time someone shoved Sam ended up with a broken nose after Sam punched him.

Liana shook her head and led Sam towards where Lucy parked her car. Lucy's shift was to end in a few minutes and Sam was ready to go home. Liana decided to stay at the boardwalk to keep an eye on Mike. Lucy agreed and took Sam home. Liana quietly spoke with Lucy, "Sam may be agitated a little. The comic shop insisted he have a comic about vampires. I'm going to see if there are others here we need to be aware of." Lucy nodded her head, "Okay. I have some of his favorite chocolate stashed away." "Good idea," Liana kissed Lucy on the cheek, waved at Sam then headed back to the boardwalk.

Mike and the lovely girl he met were walking towards his bike when he saw Liana leaning against the railing. He sneered at her, "What are you doing here? Where's Sam?" Liana smirked at his irritated tone, "Home with Lucy." Liana turned to the girl, "Who's this?" The girl rudely ignored Liana and turned to Mike, "Are we going to get something to eat?" Mike smiled at her, "Yeah. Let's go." Liana scoffed at the girl's rudeness. She already didn't like this girl Mike was chasing, plus she got a bad feeling. Liana's magic was warning her to stay away from the girl.

Before Liana could warn Mike, they were surrounded by four bikers. Liana felt her magic wanting to lash out. The one closest to Mike, dressed in all black spoke, "Well, what do we have here? Star? Where do you think you're going?" Liana couldn't help but snicker, mumbling under her breath, "Sounds like a stripper name." Liana didn't realize she was heard.

That got the bikers' attention. The lead guy took the cigarette out of his mouth, "And who might you be?" Liana didn't answer the guy. The two of them just stared at each other. Their staring contest was broken by Star, "We were just to get something to eat." Mike mounted his bike and held out his hand, "Let's go." Before Star could take Mike's hand, she was stopped by the lead guy, "Star." Star looked back and forth between Mike and the guy before giving Mike an apologetic expression and got on the other guy's bike.

"The name's David. That's Paul, Marko, Dwayne, and the little one is Laddie. And of course, you know Star. Now, who are you?" David asked the two, but his eyes were focused on Liana. "I'm Mike and this is Liana," Mike ignored the scowl from Liana. "And we were just leaving," Liana cut anyone else off from speaking. One of the other guys, Paul, pouted, "Awe, come on. Don't be like that."

Mike sneered at Liana, and she glared right back. They had a conversation just with their eyes. Finally, Mike broke eye contact, sighed, and started his bike. Liana got on behind him and Mike sped off the boardwalk, ignoring the many times his name was being called. When they got back to the house Mike turned and yelled, "What the hell is your problem?!" Liana wasn't even bothered by the volume of his voice, "The whole time those guys were around us, my magic wanted to lash out. That doesn't happen around normal humans and you know it. I would stay away from them."

Mike shook his head angrily, "You can't tell me what to do." He walked away, not wanting to deal with Liana and her overprotectiveness. Liana retreated to her room after checking on Sam, and Lucy to make sure they were okay. Liana can feel something has changed in her family, and that something bad was coming for them. Sooner rather than later.
