"Allie.. where are you going?"

"Outside, Mommy why?"  I looked back at her.

"You have to stay in here remember?" She said with a small smile almost pitying me.

I huffed indignantly and stomped  my feet. "But I want to play with the other pups." I whined.

" Sorry, baby, but you have to stay in here, for safety remember?" She smiled.

I only rolled my eyes. I started to open the door.

"Alana... Alana... come back... Alana..."

"ALANA!" Someone yelled waking me up from my sleep. I quickly sat up and rubbed my eyes.

"Where's the fire?" I mumbled rubbing my eyes. My vision started to clear and it was Dad. He had an aggravated expression on his face with his arms crossed.

"There's no fire, but please tell me why there is a wolf sitting in our backyard." He said looking at me.

"A wolf? What time is it?" I yawned again.

"Late. I went to go take out the trash and that darned thing nearly gave me a heart attack!" he yelled.

I swung my legs over the side of the bed and slipped on my bedroom slippers. "Is it still there?"

"I think so." He he muttered then left my room.

Then I slipped on my night robe and left my room and descended the stairs. I opened the back door and stepped out. The night air was kind of cool... and I pulled my robe closer to me.  I heard a rustle in front of me and emerging from the darkness, I saw glowing green eyes. I crossed my arms and shook my head in disbelief.

"You nearly gave my dad a heart attack... what are you doing here?" I looked at him.

"Watching over your house." He said sheepishly.

"And what would you do exactly if they actually did come and attack? What would you do?"I tilted my head and smirked.

"I would bite them." He said with a serious tone.

I shook my head and smiled he stepped closer and came into the full light. He had black, fur. I stepped towards him and rubbed my fingers through his soft fur.

"Like biting would do any good against an army of trained assassins." I smiled still touching his fur," omg you are so cute and fluffy. I can't stop touching your fur."

He growled in protest at calling him cute and fluffy. "Don't call me that. I'm supposed to look big and menacing."

I smiled. "Good luck with that. You're bloody cute!" I smiled. He rolled his eyes and grumbled. I heard the back door open again, it was my dad... I could tell by his scent.

"That's it that's the fiendish wolf. Tell it to go away." He muttered darkly. I rolled my eyes and Ryker whimpered and stood behind me.

"Calm down Dad... it's Ryker..." I said quietly with a hand still on his head.

"Well tell Lukas to not just show up in the middle of the night! It's terrifying!" Dad said angrily.

"Ryker can understand you... you know that... right?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Well, Ryker... just don't show up... okay... I'm old and I don't need a heart attack." He pointed at Lukas with one finger like he was his own child.

"Tell him I said, 'Yes, sir.'" He said quickly.

"He said, 'Yes, sir,' Dad." I looked at him.

"Okay... as long as he gets it next time..." He walked back into the house.

I rolled my eyes. "Sorry about him... he still needs to get accustomed to this werewolf thing..." I blushed.

"After how many years?" He tilted his head.

"I was four when they adopted me... so it has been thirteen years..." I nodded slowly.

"Thirteen years and he still hasn't gotten used to it... wow.." He chuckled with amusement.

I rolled my eyes,"Tell me about it."

He chuckled. "Hey, want to come on a walk with me?" He wagged his tail happily.

I raised an eyebrow at him. "This late? In my pj's?" I asked.

He just continued to wag his tail. I just rolled my eyes and followed him.
