"Okay, remind me why do I have to be blindfolded?" I asked as I waved my arms around aimlessly trying to find something solid to grasp onto.
I felt one hand on each of my shoulders steering me in a direction that is a total mystery to me at the moment. "Because if you saw where we were going it wouldn't be a surprise." Luke said.
I could hear the shuffling of more footsteps in the hallway. "Who else is walking with us?" I asked turning my head as though I could see them.
"The whole crew. Including Dad." Luke said over my shoulder sounding excited himself.
I sighed feeling a little impatient. I wanted to see my surprise now. It feels like I've been wandering these halls for hours. "How big is this house and how long have I been walking?" I whined a little.
"I know this house is huge, but we're almost there. Just hang in there." Luke said reassuringly.
"Patience is a virtue, dear." Roxas said.
"Shut up! I know that." I said bitterly, anxious to snatch this blindfold off.
"Watch the tone madam. Or there will be consequences." He said warningly.
"Put one mitt on me and I swear you will be on the first flight back to the U.K." I returned his bluff.
He fell silent and I heard everyone else snicker. These halls seem endless and my feet are cold from walking barefoot. Sigh.
"Wait right here." Luke instructed, leaving me to stand on the spot. There was a shuffling of footsteps and the sound of a door being opened. Then firm hands were placed back on my shoulder urging me to move forward.
My feet complied in a quick fashion. We stopped walking and Lukas left me to stand there.
"I wonder what it is."
Me too. I get this distinct smell of wood and ivory.
"Okay, doll. Go ahead and take off the blindfold." He said excitedly.
I took my sweet, precious time to take this blasted blindfold that they tied over my eyes.
"Would you hurry it up!" Roxas said impatiently.
"I would go a little bit faster if someone didn't get my hair tied up in this." I said through gritted teeth.
The blindfold was undone and I slowly slid it off of my eyes. I cracked one eye open, followed by the other eye. My eyes burned from the sudden contact with light.
I blinked a couple of times to gain focus. Something huge, black, and shiny sat infront of me. I rubbed my eyes and blinked a few more times in shock.
There infront of me sat this beautiful grand piano with a red bow sitting on top. I walked over towards it and lifted up the covering for the keys. And right above them in gold letters was the name Steinway and Sons. I squealed with delight and ran my fingers over the smooth, cool surface of the keys.
I turned around to face everyone with my hands clasped together at my chest, dancing on my tiptoes. No words could come out. Only squeals and excited dancing.
"Stop embarrassing yourself and say something." Eris urged trying to sound annoyed but in reality she was excited herself.
"Who's brilliant idea was to get this because I am way beyond thrilled right now and I could just kiss them to death." I smiled excitedly.
"Oh, it was me." Mark stepped forward casually.
"Stop your lying. You know it was me." Roxas pushed Mark out of the way.
"Both of you shut up and step back! Let Luke have the spotlight!" Aaliyah pulled them both back by the collar of their shirts.
"Seriously! Stop trying to hop on the gift wagon." Cain frowned.
I turned to face Lukas with my hands over my mouth stifling my excited squeal. "Y-you got this for me?"
He nodded in response. I couldn't help but squeal again and fly at him, wrapping my arms around his neck and showering his face with kisses. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" I squealed and if I had my tail right now, it would be wagging.
"Yea. It wasn't only me though. I had help bringing it in thanks to your brother and my brother and him," he
cast a dark look," and the baby picked out the bow. He insisted on red and Aaliyah insisted the Steinway and Sons."
I started to tear up. I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand. I outstretched my arms to everyone else. "Come on guys. Group hug. You all deserve it." I smiled.
They all huddled around me and it felt so good. Until it got weird. "Um..Mark. Get your hand off of my butt." I said quietly.
He laughed sheepishly followed by a smack and an over exaggerated Ow.
"Keep your filthy paws off of her." Lukas looked at him angrily with red eyes.
Mark backed away with a sly smile with his hand raised. Then he whispered something in Luke's ear that caused him to get punched in the arm.
"Why don't you play something, Lana and see how it sounds." Cain gestured towards the piano.
I nodded excitedly and pulled out the piano bench and sat down. Hmmm... what to play, Eris?
"How about Moonlight Sonata Mvt.3?"
Good idea. Get to show off my quick hands.
My hands hovered over the keys and my hands shook with excitement. My very own grand piano. I took a deep breath and began to play the song
(This is the song. ♥ It! Shows off her mad shkillz!)
After I was finished, I placed my hands at my side and stared at the keys for a little bit until I heard the unmistakable sound of applause.
"Luke! You didn't tell me she was this good!" Cain exclaimed.
"That's not even the half of it. She's just playing one of her least complicated tunes." Allen said sounding boastful.
"She has literally won every competition she has been in." Roxas chimed in.
"Really? You're that good? Geez, Mom would have loved to hear you play. She loved the piano. Didn't she?" Mark looked at his dad and other siblings.
"Yea. Mom was a music connoisseur. She absolutely loved music. It was her passion." Aaliyah said smiling with a look of nostalgia.
"They're right. She would have loved you and your music." Lukas wrapped his arms around me.
"Thank you so much." I leaned in his arm.
"You're welcome." He kissed the top of my head.
Readers. This is what I call another cute chapter.
And this was inspired by a real life event. My music teacher had a brand new piano donated to me from Steinway and Sons.
Sigh. One of the best days ever.
Anyways, Vommare!
