Alana

"Good morning, Alana."

"Hey, Lukas. How are you?" I said slipping on some running shoes with my face holding my phone together inbetween my shoulder.

"I'm doing great. What are you up to now?"

"Um....I'm going on my morning run, um... why are you calling me at eight something in the morning... how would you know I'm awake?" I smirked.

"I'm like not totally standing outside facing your window, seeing that your lights are on." He said quickly.

"Lukas, really? Outside guarding me again?" I walked over to my window and opened it.

He was standing at the edge of the woods with his phone up to his ear and gave a sheepish wave."Good morning!" He smiled.

I scoffed and closed my window and walked outside. "Lukas, again with the guarding? I'm not a pup you know." I placed my hands on my hips.

"W-well you know.. you haven't been yourself, and we have these Silverhands ya know... so...yea." He said quietly rocking on his heel.

I shook my head and crossed my arms. "And again, I ask, what would you have done? A mob versus one wolf."

He frowned and hung his head. "At least I'll try something rather than nothing." He shoved his hands in his pockets.

I smiled and gave him a small hug. "I appreciate the gesture, Luke." I grinned.

"You're most certainly welcome, Lana." He gave me a one armed hug. Suddenly, I felt this warmth. I know I'm warm because we're touching! But it's some other type of warmth. The one where this feels right and you get butterflies in your stomach.... yea... that's what I'm feeling.

"Ready to go on a run, Lukas?" I pulled away and looked up at him.

He raised his eyebrows and sputtered a little bit. " A what? We're r-running?"

"Duh, you prat. I said that over the phone. Were you not listening to me?" I raised an eyebrow.

".....I was... but... I thought you were joking." He said quietly.

"Why would I be joking?" I placed one hand on my hip.

"I don't know. You struck me as the type who would be up and reading. Not up and running." He chuckled.

I smiled. "I like to stay active and healthy. So since you are Mr. Bodyguard, you're running with me." I smiled.

He sighed. "Fine.... I did sign myself up for this." He muttered.

"Okay, let's go." I tugged on his arm and took off at a jog towards the front of the house, along the sidewalk.

He groaned and jogged alongside me, "Why do you jog so early in the morning?" He asked.

"Because it's cooler in the morning." I said.

"But it's also cooler in the evening." He looked at me.

"But it's more dangerous in the evening. The sun goes down and that's when predators hunt their prey." I said looking forward now, running along the trail.

"They also hunt in the morning and there won't be no hunting when I'm around." He smiled at me.

I blushed and looked away. "Thanks, Lukas." I giggled.

"Awww he wants to protect us! That's so cute!"

I know, Eris! It's really cute!

There was this slight breeze this morning. Luckily I was wearing a jacket, and I zipped it up a little bit.

"How cold does it get here?" I asked.

"It doesn't get that cold the lowest is like in the twenties.... but that's not common. Last year we had a warm winter. We didn't even need a coat."

"Great! Because where I came from, it was cold. Like snow, ice, slip and fall in the water you die from hypothermia."

"That sounds horrible."

"Yea...but I'm loving this warm weather. I can get used to it." I smiled.

"Stօք, Aʟaռa." A voice told me.

I stopped running in my tracks and held Lukas back with my  arm. As soon as I stopped him, an arrow flew past my face. It was so close that I could hear the whistle coming from it.

"Alana! Get back!" Lukas pulled me behind a tree, covering me with his body. There was soft thumps made by the arrows impaling the bark. I covered my head and felt my heart thump loudly in my chest.

"This can't be happening again." I groaned.

"Alana... we have to move or we die." He said.

"To where though? I can't just run to my house! They'll find me there." I said almost hyperventilating.

"We can lose them in the woods and run to the safety of my pack." He said.

I nodded in agreement and peered around the tree and saw people dressed in black advancing towards the tree. Then they shot another arrow at me and it ricocheted off the tree. I turned back to Lukas.

"I think now is a good time to run," I said quietly as I heard the footsteps slowly approach," but in which direction though?"

"North. Head north." He said.

The footsteps stopped. "Come out, Chase. We know you are there." A male's voice said.

Lukas and I looked at each other and I took a deep breath. "Run on three," he whispered, " 1.... 2... 3!"

We both darted from opposite sides of the tree and barreled through the line of Silverhands. I ran as fast as I could feeling branches whipping me in the face. And I tripped up on a couple of roots and stumbled to the ground and pushed myself off the ground and took off running again.

"What do the Silverhands have against the Chases?"

I don't know, Eris. I wanna figure that out.

"We need to figure this out soon, because  I don't want to be in anymore life or death situations."

Can we not talk about life or death situations right now, because all I'm seeing is death! Death, Eris!

Then behind me I could hear the hum of vehicles. Oh geez! I looked behind me. They were riding on ATV's!

"What happened to the medieval theme?!"

That's what I'm trying to figure out! I was betting on that medieval theme.

There was hooping and hollering echoing throughout the woods and one ATV was right behind me. They sound like they're doing bloody war cries.

"Alana, slide now." The same voice said.

I did as I was told and stopped and slid. I looked back to see the ATV run into a trip wire and the vehicle flipped over. Sigh. Thank you, Moon Goddess. I kept steady footing, careful to avoid any more roots. I could feel my heart thump in my throat. I honestly can't do anymore of this.

Flash! Crack! Flash!

I was suddenly blinded from these flash bombs or whatever these are. I covered my eyes and started to run blindly until I felt this crippling shock run through my entire body in this burning sensation. I fell on the ground in a loud thump.

"Well, well, well. Look at who we have here," I heard a familiar sneer," I didn't think I was going to catch two today."

I looked at him in horror and managed to slowly stagger to my knees. "No, you're not going anywhere." He pulled out a stun gun and shoved it in my side, sending more crippling shocks through my entire body. I screamed in pain.

He stood over me smirking. "How is it that we seem to meet like this, huh, Lana?"

I was too breathless and in shock to respond, I just glared at him, unable to move.

"Why aren't you answering me? Cat got your tongue?" He knelt in front of me.

I tried to sit up again and another electric wave coursed throughout my body. "I'm not through with you yet." He growled.

"Fight back, Allie. You have to fight back."

I can't, Eris. I can't hurt anyone else again. I can't.

I started to tear up. Feeling worthless and completely vulnerable and at this guy's mercy. I couldn't move or do anything.

"Oh, you're crying," he wiped my tear with his thumb,"I never pictured you crying this way. I always pictured you crying my name into the night.... but definitely not like this."

"You... are despicable." I manged to say weakly.

"NO! You are despicable!" He shoved the baton in my side, feeling like he raised the voltages.

I screamed out in pain. Every nerve in my body felt like it was being set on fire and he just watched me with glee in his eyes.

"I'm not despicable, you are Alana. You are. You and your kind." He stopped and walked around me. I managed to curl myself up in a ball and just laid there.

"You guys are an abomination. You all need to be wiped out. You and your kind are the reasons why I have no father-thanks to you- why families cower in fear. IT'S JUST YOU ALL! I CAN'T STAND YOU!" He yelled at the top of his lungs brandishing his baton.

I cowered in fear and covered my ears. "And you, my dear are going to feel every ounce of contempt I have towards you and your kind." He now pointed the baton in my face.

I looked at the electricity run up and down the baton. I took a deep breath and braced for the worst. He then shoved the thing into my side. The pain was excruciating. I screamed until my voice became hoarse and couldn't scream any longer.

I heard footsteps approach and the deafening crunch as a fist came in contact with whatever that crunch sound was.  I saw blurry vision of Lukas and Jonathan on his knees, holding his nose. Lukas walked over to me and picked me up, and I finally passed out.

I hoped that was good enough for you guys. And sorry for the delay on this chapter. I have freakin' AP Statistics classes now and it's making my life a living hell.... I hate that class so much...
Anyways... Vote and comment. Let me know what you think.
