Torr Come Home

Sorry for the late update friends. I've been pretty busy lately and not had time to write anything, but I will get back on it now and get this story done!

On with it!

Torr shambled on for hours into the day.

Thankfully, no dogs or beasts approached him while he wandered, but he was still lost nonetheless. He felt confident in his direction, however, and stuck to it.

At around noon, more of the white powder began to fall from the sky. It reminded the Outworlder of rain, but when he held his hand out and caught some of it, he found that it was cold. Perhaps it was rain, just slower. He was certain there was a word for the stuff, but it was always Ferra who was the brains of the two.

What interested him, though, wasn't the temperature or texture of the white rain. It was how calming just watching it fall was. For a brief second, Torr forgot all of his problems and predicaments and just watched the powder fall like salt sprinkled on a dish.

After a while, the substance built up on the forest floor and his feet were lost under a layer of whiteness. When he lifted his legs, the powder shifted and squished like wet sand. He reached down and grabbed a handful of white, finding it soft and malleable. He wasn't able to appreciate the beauty of the whiteness when he first arrived, but now that he was, he really enjoyed playing in it.

So, for a quick break, he sat down and played in the whiteness, forgetting all of his troubles.

"This One believed your plan was more complex than this," D'Vorah stated as she replaced her cloak for a pair of denim pants and a large, hooded coat. "However little she expected, you still delivered less."

"Trust me," Tanya responded, putting on her own set of Earthrealm clothing, "Earthrealmers are strange. They are quick to accept anything as commonplace. That's why so many Outworld refugees were able to blend in during the civil war." The Edenian dressed herself in tight jeans and a yellow t-shirt, staying true to her color scheme.

D'Vorah thought that made a crumb of sense, so she let the subject go. However, she doubted there was a hood large enough or an Earthrealmer foolish enough for her yellow skin to not be noticed.

Putting that matter aside, D'Vorah looked to her men. Twelve Osh-Tekk soldiers stood horizontally in line, each ready to activate a one-way portal to Earthrealm with their amulets. Each portal will lead to a different, random location, increasing their chances of succession. D'Vorah and Tanya were going in together, unlike the rest of the men, who were going in individually.

"Eetz-kah!" D'Vorah shouted to the soldiers. At her word, they all activated their amulets, blue portals opening in the once empty spaces.

"Do you want to pick which one we're going through, D'Vorah? Or shall I?" Tanya asked.

"There is no time for such trivial matters," said D'Vorah, "We will go through that one." She pointed randomly at the line of portals, selecting the eleventh one from the left.

Tanya shrugged, "Very well. Don't forget to put your hood up, gorgeous."

D'Vorah glared viciously at Tanya, but pulled her hood over her face and began to walk towards the portal.

"Like I said before," the Edenian said as they walked, "Earthrealm is a very large realm. It will likely take many days of searching before we find anything." They simultaneously stepped through the portal, immediately met with the sight of Torr sitting in a forest, playing in a pile of snow. "Or... We'll find them immediately and without any difficulty whatsoever."

D'Vorah hurried over to Torr's side. She simply planned to place a caring hand on his large shoulder, but the brute had another idea, swooping up D'Vorah up with a huge, tight hug. "O-rah!" He shouted happily.

"Yes, yes, Torr. I am here," D'Vorah strained while being crushed by Torr's affection. When he finally let her go a minute later, she asked him mercilessly, "Are you okay? Where's Ferra? Why are you covered in snow?"

"Snow," was all he said in response.

Torr knew there was a word for it.
