Chapter 29

Inside the cave Jason could hear Stampy's muffled cries. He quickly stood up. "Stella, did you hear that?"

"I did, Captain! We need to make a path for them." She told him. "We could try blasting a way through but we might risk hitting them seeing as I cannot see them in this cave."

"Then what should we do?" Jason went up to the exit, placing his gloved hand onto the wooden planks. "Could we dig a way out?"

"Possibly." She replied. "A beam would be the fastest way however."

"What if they're right in front of us?"

"Then you may dig but it may be harder, Captain." She answered. "Perhaps try hollering back to get him out of the way?"

Jason frowned before getting his mouth as close to the wood as he could. "H-HELLO? IS ANYONE THERE?!" He yelled as loud as he could despite his throat still being sore.

"JASON?!" Stampy called back. "QUENTIN IS UNCONSCIOUS!"

"W-WHAT?!" Jason's eyes widened. "S-STAY BACK FROM THE ENTRANCE...I'M BLASTING MY WAY OUT!"

"OKAY!" Stampy pulled Quentin out of the way and where it would be safe. "READY!"

Jason broke the wooden blocks, revealing the almost frozen solid wall of snow underneath. Jason stood back and aimed his hand at the wall, the palm growing a bright orange before a beam of light was shot out. The snow had melted on impact, creating a fairly large tunnel.

Stampy startled and waited for it to pass before slowly poking his head over. "J-Jason?"

Jason put his helmet back on and ran out of the cave. "St-Stampy!?"

"H-hey..." he was soaked, snow and ice covered him and formed on his wet clothes and hair. He was pale and looked exhausted. "C-can... we-we c-come i-in??" He asked, shaking, dragging Quentin behind him.

"Oh my gosh." Jason ran up to Stampy and looked down at Quentin. "D-do you need help?"

"That-that would be g-great..." he answered.

Jason wrapped his arm around Quentin's leg. "You take his top half? There only uh... so much I can do..."

"You could get on arm and I'll get the other and we bring him in that way??"

Jason nodded and grabbed onto his arm instead. "Be careful tough, don't want him to cut himself."

"R-Right..." He replied and carefully moved him inside with Jason's help, laying him on the ground and covering him with the wool again. He was still shaking and looked like he was about to collapse.

Jason blocked the entrance back up and began to make a fire. He looked up at Stampy. "W-what happened?"

"W-We found some sh-shears and a sh-sheep... g-got wool... T-then Kala sh-showed up... Kept saying s-someone was going to die s-soon..." He shuddered, moving toward the fire. "Th-Then the av-avalanche... We were saved b-by Q-Quentin's pokemon sk-skills... But g-got st-stuck..."

Jason froze at the mention of Kala's name. "A-at least you guys are okay now..." He reached and got his jacket, handing it to Stampy. "I wanted to help b-but.."

"I-It's o-okay... I-It w-wasn't y-you're f-fault."

"I-I know, I should've gone with you guys though..." Jason sighed.

"You n-Needed... r-rest..."

Jason frowned. "No. I've just been sitting here, you're the one who needs rest..."

"Th-that...s-sounds n-nice..." stampy suddenly blacked out and started to collapse.

"S-Stamps?"" Jason moved closer to him, his hand shaking as he reached out to him.

Stampy briefly woke up, enough to keep from falling completely to the floor and slowly sat down. "I... I c-can't s-stay awake..." he mumbled.

"L-lay down.." Jason bunched up his jacket and handed it to Stampy. "Use this for your head..."

"Th-thanks..." Stampy's hands shook as he accepted it and slowly laid down.

"Captain, his body is below average temperature. Same with Quentin."

"They were outside for a long time..." Jason sniffed. "W-what can we do...?"

"Keep them as warm as you can and I will monitor them. I suggest wrapping Stampy's hands. They are showing low grade signs of frostbite."

Luckily Jason had taken off his gloves before his encounter with Kala. He reached into the shulker box and took them out, placing them onto Stampy's hands. Since they were fingerless, he used some wool to cover up the fingertips. Jason worked on building up the fire, heating up the room more and more.

Stampy purred softly as he curled up and slept, chest falling and rising steadily. Though Jason had felt how cold his hands, let alone skin was to the touch when he put the gloves on.

"He's freezing cold..." Jason muttered before checking up on Quentin. His breathing had become slower, but steady, and his orange cheeks had lost some of their color.

"Best to keep them both as warm as you can but that's all you can do for now." Stella told him.

Jason nodded and continued to work. The fire grew more and more, and eventually Jason had even taken his suit off to use the heater inside of it.

Stampy soon was back to more normal temperatures and was sleeping soundly.

Quentin was returning to normal, but at a slower rate. He was actually stirring in his sleep now, and the color had returned to his face.

"Captain, they should both make a full recovery."

Jason let out a sigh of relief. "Stella... I don't know how much longer we'll be able to do this..."

"We are so close to it now, Captain. It's at the top of this mountain." She told him.

"R-really?"

"That is what my scanners are detecting. It is likely why the three of you have been being attacked more severely."

"I guess so... And I can only imagine that it gets worse from here..."

"I assume so." She agreed. "I'm sorry, Captain..."

"It's not your fault... I just hope... That we can all make it out..."

"As do I, Captain."

Jason sighed and leaned back onto the cave. He could hear the wind outside, the storm had kicked up again.
