//Tord's pov.//
When Tord was all done smiling to himself in the car, he kept an eye on you. He would look over at your back that leaned against the door and think, looks like the girl is still flustered, he thought, grinning to himself — blushing despite him not knowing it.
He took a cigar from the inside of his coat, lit it with the lighter he had in his pocket and enjoyed the intoxicated smoke.
His mind drift to Emily.
Emily Fallen. A soldier. She fights, she follows orders, just another ordinary soldier.
Then why does it feel like something is wrong with her?
Today, not to long ago actually, Tord told Emily and Addie Fallen that he would be driving himself. The feeling Emily gave him. The uneasy mix that filled him at that moment when he saw her. Hell no. Tord thought. She's been here forever. Why is it just now that I feel...? Tord didn't know what to do about Emily.
Kill her? He had a whole list in his head of people he really wanted dead. Emily wasn't one of them. Though Addie, her sister, was on the list.
Only because she was annoying.
Even Jay was on there for stealing his colour scheme.
Though, he can't kill him. That's Lee's friend, and Lee is pretty close to a friend with Tord.
Tord continued to debate in his head. Kill her? Or don't kill her?
He inhaled the thick smoke, holding it in and finally breathing out.
Tord would not feel the slightest of bad. No remorse. Nothing.
Y/n must be out of her mind. She doesn't look at how bad of a man he was. Heck, there were a lot of times he did want to kill her. Yeah, she was different to him. She was interesting, she was...
Humorous? Kind? Angry? Adventurous?
She was... attractive?
Wait, no no no! That's not it. I swear, that's not at all!
There was little he even knew about her.
Well I do know that she's very shy, she always thinks I'm gonna kill her... probably terrified of me, which she sh-
Tord stopped his grinning, a frown forming.
Which, which she should... Wait, didn't I just tell myself I was going to get to know her? Why am I like this?
Tord had come to realize that all his life, he always had this thought. Related to betrayal wise.
Ugh!!! Tord groaned out loud. Not to loud to tripper Y/n, though the thought of her made him remember that she didn't like the smell of cigarettes and cigars.
With the cigar in his robotic hand, he dipped his wrist downward and the little light dimmed as its fire died down next to the cup holder between where hisself and Y/n were going to sit. He opened the window so the smoke could blow out, even though he only took one puff, though he didn't even know that. He thought to much where he forgot. Just as long as it didn't smell in the car, that was okay.
Tord just lied back in his seat, looking at the mirror on the door, throwing his cigar out the window. He kept an eye on it for Emily's arrival.
He doesn't want Y/n around her.
He here he was, claiming he knew everything, claiming that he could take over the world, yet here he is getting worked up because he called her attractive.
Tord decided to ponder just to distract himself from the embarrassment. But the mention of Emily got him back to what he was first pondering about. Kill her, or don't kill her. He didn't even know he was reaching for his gun in the actual car.
He almost made his choice — which was obviously bad — but that was until Y/n sneezed outside, sending Tord a memory.
Y/n's frightened face was scarred into Tord's brain.
The way she backs up away from Tord, the way she held her balled up hand near her chest. When her eyebrows knit together in so much fear. It made Tord want to grip at his hair, just so the slightest pain could distract him. So what was he saying before? She is terrified of him, she does know that he's a terrible man. Why is she coming? Simple, Tord made her.
No. Tord thought. She didn't do anything wrong. I can't lose her either, she's useful in the red army.
He was close in his debates from agreeing on killing Emily. He decided not to.
He didn't want to admit it but the image of her terrified face made him frown. Yeah, that's right. He frowned. In sadness. For a girl.
Something he told himself not waste his time on anymore, though he wasn't frowning about Emily.
Sure, there were some times where women would come once in a while, trying to make their moves on him.
He would decline.
Most of the time.
And some other times he would just groan and say; "fuck it".
After to long of just watching the mirror with still no Emily, he took a quick glance over at you. Your back was still pressed on the same space. Looks like you hadn't moved yet. Tord wonders what you're thinking.
He spaced out again.
Have you ever truly smiled before?
Was there at least a happy moment with family?
You had to have one friend, right?
Did you have at least a boyfriend maybe?
Hmm, girlfriend? ugh, I don't know her sexuality either.
Well Tord does know that she gets flustered a lot, she's very emotional, shy, scared, sometimes she has a bold side — where she had complemented Tord about his appearance, or the cute little foot thing they did back at the old base — it was adorable when she panicked while flustered.
Tord's heart beater at that. Like, some realization hit him.
Without a doubt, Y/n was cute.
Tord can feel the blush creep up on him, he looked away from staring at your back and darted his direction outside the window beside him. He frowned his eyebrows, not wanting this feeling.
It's fine, he thought. It's normal to find someone attractive. I don't like her like that anyway!
That's the first time he ever thought Y/n as a love interest, this made him over think again, causing him to get himself worked up again. And again and again.
Really? He asked himself. I'm the Red leader?
. He realized that he really needed to smoke, though realizing that he couldn't!
I can go whenever I want, though she doesn't like it. He kind of fought between himself on this. He keeps reminding himself he's the Red leader, though he keeps trying to be a little less threatening to her in a way.
Okay, agreed. No smoking. What the hell do I do though? Ask her to come back inside? No actually, she would if she wanted to. She needed air anyway, she's been inside for a while week now.
He turned his head a little, glancing at the window to see if she was still there.
She was not.
His heart dropped.
Did she just run away!?
That feeling of betrayal. The feeling was ugly. Because Y/n would never trust him.
Anger was building up again. He was over thinking just over her?! He let his guard down on her. He didn't check on her sooner.
Tord angrily grabbed the door handle but before he could even open the door he was interrupted by little giggling and small laughter.
He froze, Wait, what? He turned his head, his eyes seeing the trunk door slowly lifting behind him. As the trunk slowly opened, two standing bodies were seen: one in uniform and one in black pants and a red hoodie.
He adores that hoodie on her, though he won't admit it to himself.
He saw Emily grin, then bending down and got back up with the bin of Y/n's clothing. She pushed it on top of Tord's box.
Those were his belongings from this base.
Tord stepped out of the car, straightening his back to be a little more formal, since, welll, he's the Red leader.
He held both arms around his back, slamming the door with his foot.
He walked towards the two, he see that Emily has notice his arrival. She solutes. "Red leader sir, I have brought what you asked for. Is there anything else you need?" She asked, formally with no emotion.
He walked over to the trunk. All Tord's stuff was all fitted in perfectly. The bin was sitting on top of Tord's gun case. He looked over at the bag beside it, his personal belongings were there. "No," Tord said, turning to Emily. "you're dismissed."
"Thank you, sir." She said, bowing and sparing Y/n a glance before leaving.
For a split second, Y/n's eyes sent a glare. A small one but vanished as soon as it appeared. She replaced it with a smile. "Bye." Was all she said.
She turned her head to face Tord, they made awkward eye contact for a split second. It was unnoticeable for Emily to catch on to, though Y/n scurried off in a small panic to the car, she slammed it shut before Emily could suspect anything.
"Thank you, Emily. What was so funny that would make you two to laugh?"
Emily heard the emphasis he put in his sentence, and she knew what he meant by it. Of course, it was obvious. Emily and her were the type of people to stay quiet, calm and just didn't seem to laugh as much. So, what was it? What were they talking about?
"We just joked and said childish things, sir. I'm sorry, may I leave now?" She asked, staying as calm as she could in front of her leader.
Tord took a moment to think: was she lying? She honestly sounded sincere about it, anyone would believe her. Tord though, he felt something was off with her. Something about her wanting to leave so fast, she usually waits and watch them leave. She wants to go so soon?
Emily gulped. "You may leave. You and Addison work the security cameras instead. Tell the boys to help load the rest of crates on the jet. Goodbye Ms. Fallen." He turned his back on her, he raised his hand to give one last wave. He looked back with his good eye. "See you later, or whatever." He said, then waved his hand to the her, gesturing for her to leave.
She took this time to leave right away. She didn't even look back.
Good for her.
When he returned in the car, he started the engine and looked over at the girl. "Ready?" He asked, turning to the girl in the seat.
She was lost for words. What was she supposed to say at this point?
"Mhmm." She hummed in agreement, looking straight ahead where the gates were.
And there's something he needs to get straight with first.
"Y/n, remember that you're only helping me clean. That place picks up dust like nothing else. Last time that place was clean it took a two weeks." He told her, raising a finger in continuation. "And of course I'm going to assume that you'll escape. So obviously I'll keep doors locked and things out of your reach." He informed her, his eye narrowed.
She still didn't know what to say.
That's when it dawned on him. Oh, he thought. This must be so scary for her. I didn't stop to think what she was feelings.
Sure it must suck for her, being practical kidnapped by me, being told to clean a house in the woods... and she knows nothing of what's to come after all this.
She wanted to come anyway. I guess me asking her to come just slipped out, somehow, plus I said I would get to know her.
Then why do I feel so-ooo,
Guilty...?
"Then what..?" She asked, blankly.
She must be feeling lost right about now. Probably terrified.
She was still looking outside, probably past the gate.
He had to ask that himself that question too. Immediately he had an answer for it. "Go back to being in a white room of course."
//Y/n pov//
This is all my fault.
As much as I wanted to slam my face on the window so hard, I had to stay calm.
I'm the one who agreed to come here. I don't know why I did.
"I need to ask you something. Personal. But we need to be as far away as possible from here." His voice was as calm and mellow as ever. He didn't sound bothered, he didn't sound angry. The calmness in his voice surprised me, the mellowness was hiding the true emotion behind a steady breath.
"Wait, what?" I asked, looking over to him. "What do you wanna ask?" Curiosity couldn't wait to start asking questions.
"I said we need to be as far away as possible. Well, we're not in a rush or anything but I just want to go now." Red said, very casually.
I watched as his expression turned into a surprised one. "Oh!" He let out, turning around to see behind him. He reached behind the car for something I couldn't see. I looked over my shoulder to see what he was reaching over for. A gym bag. "Are you hungry? Sorry, it's just this time I didn't ask Paul to pack food." He said, pulling the what seemed to be a heavy bag of food up front. He unzipped it, and boom. Right away, I saw more cookies.
Was I hungry? Of course I was, though nothing new there.
Red rummaged through the bag, looking for something he was having trouble finding. "Ah— Ha! Found it!" His rummaging came to a stop, his hand being pulled away from the inside of the bag. There, in his robotic hand was one singular small remote. "Hope it works," he said, taking one last long examination of it. "So-ooo, are you hungry?" He asked me one more time, curiously.
I realize now that I never answered his question from before. "Oh— no, I'm not hungry. Thanks anyway— "
"What a big liar, do you know how many times I heard your stomach cry for help? Do I need to feed you?" He asked, annoyance pinching at his face bit by bit.
(Is this bitch bipolar??)
I know I should probably be thinking of something else right now but the image of Red feeding me was, how do I put this into words, let's see. Oh, that's right. I WOULDN'T even know how to feel!
"That's it, I'm gonna feed you this banana—"
"I-I think I'm just going to have some cookies!"
"Are you going to fill up on cookies? That's kinda unhealthy." He stated. "I still have my breakfast in the bag, you can always eat that." Despite there being more food for more then the both of us...
I timidity looked away in thought.
"It's eggs~" he tried to pursue me.
Why is he being so nice to me all of a sudden?
I know I should eat, yeah I really do. But I don't want to eat. I feel better empty, I feel smaller but the agonizing pain from hunger is the worst, then there was the shaking part of it.
And that pinching feeling at the bottom of your stomach.
I know I should give up.
"Fine." I said, giving up.
Red blew wind from his lips and waved his hand at me. "Fine what exactly?" He tested.
"Wait, did you even eat? It's your breakfast, why do you want me to have it?"
Red groaned in annoyance. "Oh, come on! We both know that you need it more then me."
"You didn't eat though..."
"So? You don't even eat. That's why I make you stuff."
"You don't even half to! It's alright!"
"Nothing about it is alright at all."
I didn't know how to respond to that.
"Got you, didn't I?" He asked, though smirking at me.
I looked away from him, pouting and looking away out the window.
I took notice that everything looked the same as before. The clouds were still grey, the trees were still blowing with the wind, even the flags from flag poles were moving gracefully with the wind.
Everything seemed slow.
I looked back at the man in front of me, now feeling a little bit comfortable about eating.
A smiled slipped out by accident when I saw his goofy face.
"And you've agreed to my terms on feeding you?" He asked, allowing himself to be way more lean and comfortable in his seat.
The face he made when he said that, he looked like he wanted to laugh at his own joke. 'If that even was a joke." He smiled so widely like he was talking to one of his best friends.
We're only known each other for about over a week.
I looked him in the eye, and said: "hell no." 'Even though deep down I wanted to say yes.'
He let out a little: "heh" and turned back to the steering wheel, all ready to drive. "Fair enough. Now, let's get the hell outta here." He said, the vehicle slowly starting to move.
He now kept his gaze away from me and in front of him.
He looked way more relaxed. He was slouching a bit in his seat, telling me that he was a lot more comfortable now.
A small smug grin never left his relaxed face.
The gate finally opened— because someone had to open it by hand— and we drove right out the base area.
I looked behind my seat, watching as the red army base slowly disappears.
Then sudden, the vehicle stopped a far distance from the base.
"Oh, yeah." Said Red. I don't think he realizes it but he was still holding onto the remote he pulled out of his bag the whole time. He looked at it, then back up at me. "Wanna do it?" He asked me, handing me the remote that I don't even know what was for.
I took the remote from his robotic hand.
Of course, his robotic hand was cold.
"What do I do with this?" I asked, raising my eyebrow at him.
"What do you think it's for?, push the big red button. Obviously."
I rolled my eyes as I read over the words on the centre button: "Big red button."
The remote was smaller then my own hand, along with a small antenna on the stop of it. On the left side held only one button that read: "power off."
After examining the small unknown device, I hesitated on pushing it, but went through with it.
After a while, I waited if what would happen. Nothing really. "Look." He tapped my shoulder, then pointing behind him in the same direction of the base.
My jaw dropped at the sight of what was happening to the base: it was slowly disappearing.
It looked like chucks of the bases were slowly disappearing out of thin air.
Then, it was completely gone.
"Great! It works perfectly!" He shouted, smiling at the sight of the base disappearing. "Finally. Now, buckle up and eat your breakfast.
This is going to be a long ride."
A/n
