The Lost Me

To,
The girl that I used to be,

Rummaging through the years of piles left untouched,
In my heart's slits and crannies, I searched.

Your love for the game of hide-n-seek, as you preach,
However I try, you don't allow me to reach.

Wearing the unusual kindness under your dimple,
On your lips, the effervescent happiness used to tinkle.

With each slash of adversity, your heart bleeds dark,
Along the process, the alleys of tenderness lost the spark.

The priceless gem of virtue emitted the brightest glow,
Amidst the herd of immorality, I somehow went with the flow.

The attributes drowned, the harshness dumped; all around fenced with fake,
I concur, letting you go was my biggest mistake.

When life stood behind the lever, It cruised me like a leaf that's lost,
And now all that is left is a disguise, indistinguishable from a ghost.

Stood between us is the distance of miles,
The most I miss are those untainted smiles.

Now that I look in the mirror with little surmise,
All I see is an effigy that I don't recognise.

The darkest nightmare that life could show,
I did the sin of letting you go.

Yours,
Worldly phantom image that is not living yet alive.
