Chapter 15: The Dawn of Titles

"Oh Sophie! You look absolutely beautiful!" Nina cried.

"White is definitely your colour." Rumira praised.

Rumira and Evelyn were taking care of the back of the veil. They were straightening it while Nina was taking care of the temporary flowery crown that Sophie was wearing. That day, Caspian and Sophie were getting our official crowns and by His graces, they would get their titles as well.

"The veil is a little long, isn't it?" Sophie asked, looking at how it swayed against the ground behind me when she walked.

"Not long enough." Evelyn said.

They walked out of the lower dressing room and out of the Telmarine castle. That morning after Sophie was given the clear go that meant that Caspian had left, she walked around the entire castle and got that day's exercise. This was the place that gave her a roof over her head when she needed it. Caspian had given her a home. It would be strange to not live there anymore.

They got out of the castle and Sophie's ladies helped her get inside her carriage. Nina forced her to eat a light breakfast while they enjoyed their last meal in the Telmarine castle themselves. Once they were inside, Sophie couldn't help but look at the castle as they were leaving. Her heart was thumping out of her chest. The Telmarine castle was so beautiful in its own way. It was hard to imagine that this was the same place where many of her people died. But that was all in the past, because under Caspian and her rule, they wouldn't let any loved ones die like that.

On her way to Cair Paravel, that was the first time that Sophie actually felt like royalty. This wedding reminded her of all the royal weddings that she knew from the Other World because even there, it was the bride that would make her way to the church. Sophie was a Queen, and she wouldn't let anyone tell her otherwise.

The ride finished in the blink of an eye. She didn't even know when they reached Cair Paravel because by the time she could even breathe, she was staring at the front gates of her new home. She let out a huge breath. She was home.

She would soon be home.

The ladies helped her out of the carriage and straightened my dress and the veil after they climbed up the staircases and stood outside the closed front doors. Sophie kept nodding her head. It was finally happening. In a few more steps, she would be with Caspian again and nobody could keep them apart anymore.

"We'll see you inside." Rumira and Evelyn curtsied before entering the main hall.

Sophie turned to face Nina, wanting to hug her so badly but didn't want to ruin their dresses. "I love you, Nina." She told her for the first time. "Thank you for being my mother when I needed one."

Nina pulled her into a hug. "Now. I'll see you inside before you make me cry and ruin my makeup." They shared a laugh and then, Sophie was alone.

She started thinking about how she was going to be starting the next phase of her life. We come into this world alone and we die alone, but if we are fortunate enough, we meet wonderful people that make this journey memorable. She was very fortunate, because she had met the best people when she came to Narnia.

The doors opened right when the official music troupe started to play the traditional wedding march. Sophie started to walk inside and kept her gaze straight at the end of the long corridor. She took one look at Caspian's face and all her worries were out of the window. He looked so handsome and she wondered how she became so lucky to find him. Sophie lost the ability to control her emotions and blushed in an instant. He was looking at her like I was everything that he was searching for, like she was the answer to the question that he had been asking the entire world at the top of his voice, like she was the missing novella of his favourite book. His smile was so soft but his eyes revealed everything. He loved her. So very much.

Sophie forced herself to look at the Professor, who bowed his head at her, making her smile instantly. She had walked down aisles so many times but this time, it was different. Because this time, she belonged here. It was special.

Sophie reached the end of the line but before she did, Caspian walked towards her and took her right hand in his, not being able to bear the time they had been apart. She couldn't hold back her smile when he did that. They looked so happy. She wanted to freeze time right there because it would never come back.

Glenstorm raised his right hand in the air and there was a shuffling of feet. Literally everyone was present in the grand hall but Sophie didn't have to worry about anything. She was with Caspian. What could go wrong. "Today, we are gathered here on this joyous occasion of the union of our Majesty, King Caspian the Tenth," The Professor nodded at him. "And our Queen Sophie." He smiled at her with those twinkling eyes of his. "Sophie and Caspian have known each other for more than two years now and in this time, I've never seen love between two people grow so strong. I've known them as individuals and I've known them together." Sophie and Caspian share a look. "May you both always be happy and continue to bless us with your union. Now, we begin with the ceremony."

Caspian and Sophie stood facing each other, but stole a glance at Glenstorm, the Professor and Nina. They were all smiling at them because they were the only ones who knew the truth about this marriage. Come on, of course there is going to be a secret here!

Caspian and Sophie had already gotten married in a small ceremony that followed the traditions of the Other World where they told each other their vows. I'll tell you the details some other time because right now, the two of them were only putting on the show to convince everyone else of our union.

"I'll love you forevermore."

"I'll love you forevermore."

"By the power vested in me by the great Lion himself," The Professor started. "I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Caspian let out a breath of relief when he looked at her. He gave her a quick but meaningful kiss that left her hazy for a few seconds. They were finally married to each other! "And now," Professor Cornelius clapped his hands together. "We will move to the ritual pire to honour our Queen's traditions."

A holy pire had been set up in the inner courtyard. Caspian and Sophie walked hand in hand there. Thunderride gave them the grand red shawl that would be tied to Caspian and their right hands. The guests surrounded the courtyard while they took to the centre. They asked Trumpkin to do the honour of tying their hands because Sophie wanted to see him get emotional for once. He sniffed when he tied the end of the shawl to her hand. "Your Majesty." He nodded at her and stepped away from the invisible circle that was meant for Caspian and Sophie to take their seven rounds around the fire to merge Caspian and her seven lives together.

Once they were done, they went back into the throne room and after everyone took their respective seats, every single person in the room knelt before them. "Long live King Caspian and Queen Sophie!"

Caspian and Sophie smiled at each other. They had done it. They were together. After everything that they had been together, they broke through every obstacle. Two worlds may have separated them but even time had to listen to Sophie. She belonged with Caspian as he did with her.

Right then, the front doors opened once again. All their heads turned in that direction and Sophie's jaw dropped when she saw who it was. "Aslan."

Caspian and Sophie knelt in front of him at the same time as he made his way down the aisle. Aslan placed a paw on her left shoulder and then at Caspian's. "Rise." Everyone stood up at the command. "I told you that we would meet again on a joyous occasion." He chuckled and Sophie was sure that she heard thunder and smelled salt in the air. "I wouldn't have missed this."

"Thank you." Caspian said and in those two words, he meant it for everything that had ever happened to them.

"I suppose that the two of you haven't gotten your titles yet. Am I correct?"

Sophie nodded, reminding herself to function. Aslan was here! "Yes, Aslan."

"Then I must present you with them right away. Please sit on your thrones, children."

Caspian took her hand in his and led her on top of the marble dias where he had once shown her the two thrones that were meant for them. They were going to officially be crowned by Trumpkin as Aslan stood in the same spot that the Pevensies had told me he had once stood during their coronation. As Trumpkin walked towards Caspian with a grand golden crown, Aslan spoke, "To the stormy Seven Seas, I give you King Caspian the Tenth, the Seafarer and Navigator."

Sophie was extremely happy for Caspian to get a title that he belonged with. But that made her think of what her title would be. Who was she? Trumpkin took her official crown in his hands but Sophie was getting crowned by Himself. This was who she was going to be. "To the endless universe, I give you High Queen Sophie," Sophie gasped softly. "The Heir."

Her heart stopped beating but it was also beating at the top of its speed. She looked at Caspian but he only seemed to be admiring her, as if he had already suspected this to happen. High Queen....she was the High Queen of Narnia. It was a position that nobody had ever gotten before.

"May their love grace us until the end of time. Long live King Caspian, the Seafarer and Navigator! Long Live High Queen Sophie, the Heir!" He turned around to face them. "I would like to talk to both of you."

"Of course." Caspian said, taking Sophie's hand in his.

They followed Aslan outside to where they overlooked the southern beach. "Ask away, child."

"High Queen...." She couldn't get anything else out.

"Yes, Sophie. You are the living heir of King Frank and Queen Helen. You are the Heir of Narnia. You were born a High Queen and it was only right for you to get that title today."

"But Caspian is still the King...."

"I realise your concerns, dear one. But you are the living heir. I crowned the eldest Pevensie sibling as the High King and now, only your son can become the next High King when your reign continues."

The grip of Caspian's hand was helping her not faint or cry her emotions out. She nodded once again. "When you said that we would meet again, this isn't what you meant, is it?"

"Ah." Aslan said. "I'm afraid that only time will reveal that. The two of your paths were never joined together until you came to Narnia, Sophie." Sophie held Caspian's hand with more grip. "Since then, your lives have been intertwined in ways that are beyond anyone's imagination. My blessings are always with you. May your love unite this country as a whole."

"Thank you. I know that not all my questions have been answered even though you are the key," She looked at Caspian. "But I'm willing to let them go if it means that I get to live this life. Right here. At this moment."

The old Lion chuckled. "I see that you are getting used to Narnia's dialect, Sophie. I suppose this is the time that I must take leave."

"Aren't you going to stay?" Caspian asked.

"Son, you know better than anyone that I cannot stay in places where I have no need to be in." He gave them a soft smile. "Long live the King and High Queen of Narnia." Aslan pounced off of the steps and Sophie found herself leaning against the edge of the sill to see him leave. Caspian did not let go of her hand but did kiss her temple. "I'm sure everything is fine."

She nodded. "I'm sure it is." She wasn't the only one who noticed it. The great Lion sounded sad about something. Only time would tell the truth behind the hidden metaphors that he had been speaking in.

"Shall we go back in? I believe that you owe me a dance....Mrs. Caspian."

Sophie smirked. "We shall....Mr. Adams."
