Chapter Sixteen

No one said a word, it was almost as if everyone was frozen. I had just spoken out loud the one thing that everyone feared. Putting it out there made it real to not only me but to them, the very people that wanted to protect me from all the evil things in life. As I looked around to each person in the room I saw first hand the effect it had on the people that I had grown to love. Aggie was just staring at me with her eyebrows furrowed, the worry evident all over her face. Making eye contact with her was like a punch in the gut as I saw the emotional turmoil swirl within them. Moving on with a quick glance over at Fiona revealed more of the same emotions that were evident on Aggie's face. My parents were next and with our relationship in such a mess I couldn't help the cynicism that was already creeping into the corners of my mind. Reading the silent language of emotion that told a sad story of betrayal with a dash of regret was written all over their faces. The two people that I had never worried about deceiving their children sat in front of me, their eyes begging forgiveness. Forgiveness for something I never even knew about, something that should never had been kept from me. With less than a solid week under my belt as a vampire again, I sat facing a fight for my life, my families lives and everything that we stood for. The entire ordeal could have been avoided but because of a string of irreparable choices my parents had made we may never be the same, or we may never even live to move past it.

Sighing out loud, I closed my eyes to just try to think for a moment. So much was happening and it was happening way to fast. In over a matter of days my world had been turned upside down, some good and some not so good, but needless to say I had to try to come up with a solution to not only save my family's heritage but to become a king that I did not have any idea what that meant or consisted of. The ironic part of this entire fucked up situation was the fact that I had come to Scotland at the request of my uncle, the very uncle that now wanted to kill me, meaning that I was about to have to kill him before he killed me. That one thought made me mentally laugh because not even I was immune to the irony of it. Regardless I knew that I just wanted no needed to find somewhere peaceful and sort through all of this without everyone staring down at me to see how I was going to react and what I was going to do. If this was what a King was all about then I was not even sure I wanted to do any part of it. All of it was so overwhelming I just wanted to run and run very far away but running just was not who I was so I had to suck it all up and sort this shit out.

Opening my eyes, I made contact with the stormy gray eyes of the one person that I wanted time to get to know instead of dealing with all of this crap. Hell, I was just going to have to trust my soul that it knew what it was doing because I needed her more than I didn't and if I was being honest when she was around I felt more complete than I had ever felt. She had done more for me in the last several years than someone that wanted to cause me harm would ever do and was still standing by my side after all of this crap with my uncle had been revealed. I needed an ally and she was strong and was like a walking vampire encyclopedia and I needed that as much as I was realizing that I needed her. Before any decisions could or would be made I needed to some alone time with her but more than anything I needed her help to sort through all of this with me. She was the one person that I would spend the rest of my life with and she needed to be in on all my decisions. My first decision was that myself and my mate were going to my room to get to know each other better and learn how to be a proper vampire king with my queen, then we could collectively decide how we would kill him. Reaching for her hand as I stood, taking time to notice how her soft hand fit perfect in my large one, I gently pull her up with me deciding to let my audience know exactly how this is fixing to go down.

"I need some time to process through all of this" I said out loud to the room.

Looking around to see if anyone was going to disagree I was met with nods from everyone.

"We will be up in my room. As soon as I feel I am ready I will meet with everyone and we will work on a plan to fix this mess" I said more toward my parents, but I needed everyone to be on the same page so they could start coming up with ideas.

Turning to Aggie "Keep an eye on him and let me know if anything changes that will affect us please".

She nodded and reached out and patted my arm with a smile.

"We will give you as much time as we can" she told me as she got up and walked out of the room with Fiona.

Pulling Emory to me we made our way out of the living room, up the stairs and into my room. Once in my room I locked the door behind me and pulled her with me to the area by the window that had a small couch near it. Sitting down, I tugged her down next to me.

"Thank you for never giving up" I told her.

"I was determined to find you no matter what" she told me smiling.

Using my right hand, I brushed a piece of her hair behind her ear, tracing my finger back down her jaw line until I came to her chin. Tipping her chin up so she would have to look directly in my eyes, noticing her stormy gray eyes were wide open not hiding the sweeping emotion and lust evident in them. With my left hand I gently brushed my fingers across her lips causing her to gasp out loud that shortly turned into a low moan.

"Ethan" she whispered against my fingers.

"What do you want Emory" I whispered back to her as I continued to rub my fingers against her lips and holding her chin in place. I was completely entranced into watching her different emotions flit across her face but those eyes especially. She was completely engrossed in me and the years of waiting to find me were crashing down on her right now, surrendering herself to me entirely.

"You, my heart has been in love with you from the first day I found out about you" she told me never breaking eye contact.

The love that came from her was utterly consuming and I found my soul surrendering to not only this woman but her vampire soul as well. As I ran my hands down her arms to her waist and pulled her to me a feeling of indescribable surrounded us and I could feel our souls merging becoming one. It had to be the mate pull and as I gazed into her eyes I could see she was totally consumed with me as well.

"Do you feel it" she asked me.

"Yes" I choked out. Emotions that I had never felt before were feeling me and feelings that had long been buried felt like they were mending inside of me. She was becoming one with me as I was with her and it was written all over her face. It was a euphoric feeling that was indefinable and all I wanted to do was complete the natural call to complete a bond that I knew nothing about but craved on a different level.

"If we give into the natural pull we will become one and all of her powers and strengths will merge into a super power that is almost invincible" she choked out through gasps.

"What do you mean" I asked her. I was beginning to understand what she was trying to tell me but I needed to hear it from her since this was all so knew to me.

"If we complete the mate bond we will have each other's abilities plus new ones that only are bloodline specific. We won't know what they are until the mating is complete. It's a hereditary gift that comes when a royal bloodline mates with their true mate from another royal bloodline" She explained.

I could tell it was getting harder and harder for us to stay composed but I needed to know more. I also wanted her to know that I was not delaying the mating I just needed information since I had been deprived of it from my family.

"what are your abilities" I asked her.

"As you know I can sift through everyone's memories and also their current and past thoughts. Basically, I can enter their heads and they wont even know unless I want them too. I can also transfer memories or information to someone that is in my family. Like once we are mated I can talk to you without talking to you if that makes sense. I can do other things like vanish into thin air if I want and reappear at a different location. I can mask our scents, compel people and I can tell when someone is near especially if they are an enemy. Most of those are my family traits but the entering into a mind is specific to me. So, once we are mated then you will also have those abilities plus whatever yours are. Since we do not know it will be up to me to determine it since I know what mine are. As far as the new ones we will have to figure that out as we go" she told me.

"So, the mate pull is the bond's natural pull for us to become one" I questioned.

"Yes" she whimpered.

It was evident that she was past her ability to control straight need that was exuding from her. Her arousal was evident and it mixed with mine. My control was slipping and my want and need to make her mine was taking over and I realized for the first time in my life I did not want to control it or even over think it. I just wanted her.

"Fuck it" I growled and picked her up and begin to walk towards the bed as she wrapped her legs around my waist. Not resisting any longer, I captured her lips with mine and fire surged through me as electricity zipped between us ensuring me that this was going to be the night that would be history in the making.

Next chapter will be one you will not want to miss. I probably will have to get drunk to make sure its legendary..... It's a good thing the outline is made I just have to put the drama in it lol

Now I want to explain my long absence. I just had life get in the way and had a lot of things come up that caused me to not have time to really make this my priority but finally I think that is all behind me. I want to think everyone that stuck it out waiting patiently for me to post a new chapter. I will get this back on track and get it caught up for each of you. I do have another book I am working on that has given me the desire to get back on track and I will post a prologue soon on that one. I really find that if I have several projects going at once I do better at keeping my focus. Anyway I hope you enjoy this chapter and next one will be one you don't want to miss.
