Y/n stood outside Ruby's dorm room door. He was a little surprise to see an actual door that you had to open physically. Even the poorest planets in the Republic had automatic doors.

Y/n knocked lightly on the door, and he heard the sound of someone falling, followed by an annoyed grunt.

A blond haired girl opened the door, and behind her Ruby was sitting on top of a white haired girl. She had an embarrassing blush on her face as she rubbed the back of her head, while a black haired girl face palmed.

Blond: Oh your the boy Ruby saved!

Y/n: That would be me. If you don't mind, can I borrow her for a bit?

Blond: Oh already asking my little sister on a date~

Y/n: It's against the Jedi code

Blond: I don't know what that is

Y/n: Oh right... Can I explain it later? I would like to talk to Ruby

Blond: Fine whatever... Rubes!?

It didn't take long for Ruby to rush out of the room, and greet me. She shut the door behind her, and we started walking down the halls.

Y/n: She's your sister?

Ruby: Half Sister

Y/n: Oh...

Ruby: So what is it you needed?

Y/n: I was hoping you could show me what kind of weapon you have

Ruby: Really!? I'd be glad too!

I followed Ruby into a room full of lockers. She pulled out a large red object and then signaled for me to follow her outside.

I did so, and she lead me to a lone tree in the courtyard of the building. She seemed to tinker with her weapon a bit, before she focused on me again.

Ruby: This baby right here is Crescent Rose

Ruby proceeded to hit a hidden button, and it transformed into a scythe. It was certainly interesting to see, and depending on what else it could do, weapons of a similar class might actually be vital in this defense.

Y/n: That's pretty awesome! I've never seen something like this before!

Ruby: Right! Crescent Rose is so cool!

Y/n: What else can it do?

Ruby: I'm glad you asked! This baby has a built in high caliber rifle!

Ruby aimed at the tree and fired a round. It left a decent hole in the tree. Her weapon just might penetrate the regular battle droid's armor, or sever a limb with a joint shot.

Ruby also showed me that she had a closer ranged rifle mode that allowed for easier shots at mid range. I pulled out the phone Ozpin gave me, and fumbled around with it, until I realized I had no idea how to work it.

Y/n: Hey uh Ruby... Can you show me how to work this thing?

Ruby giggled a bit, before she offered her hand out to me. She then showed me how I can find my contacts, a map, messages, and access the internet.

I was a little embarrassed having to be shown how to use it, but I've never seen something like it, and Jedi are given communication devices that connect to the Jedi Council, or their Clone Commanders.

Once I figured it out I messaged Ozpin to send me a list of every student and their weapons. He was quick to reply and he even added something called a Semblance to the list.

Y/n: Uh Ruby what is a Semblance?

Ruby: You don't have one?

Y/n: Well I don't know what it is

Ruby: Isn't that levitation thingy you did with your stuff earlier not your semblance?

Y/n: The Force?

Ruby: What's that?

Y/n: It's the energy that connects all living things together. It's what all Jedi train to use and harness

I outstretched my hand to a few rocks and picked them up. They swirled in my hand for a bit, before I placed them back onto the ground.

Y/n: You can do some truly amazing things with the Force

Ruby: Woah...

Her eyes had a curious sparkle in them. She had a small smile on her face, as she started to daydream a bit.

Y/n: Mind explaining what a semblance is?

Ruby: Right... Uh... I don't know how to really explain it...

She rubbed the back of her head as she looked away from me, a embarrassed blush tinted her cheeks.

Y/n: Can you show me?

Ruby: That I can do!

Ruby stepped away from me, before making sure I was watching. She then turned into a swarm of rose petals, and then it started swirling up the tree, before coming back down.

The petals disappeared and Ruby was standing in front of me again. She had a smile on her face, her eyes full of child like glee.

Y/n: What did you just do!?

Ruby: That's my semblance. Everyone has a power unique to them

Y/n: That's... That's incredibly useful...

I scrolled down the list, quickly skimming over several students and couldn't help smiling. Theses new discoveries have given me quite a bit more hope.

Once I learn the full extent of this planets military capabilities, join the Arc Troopers, and establish a plan, we just might be able to hold them off until reinforcements arrive.

I looked at Ruby, who was now lost in her own world, as she tinkered with her weapon, and started eating a plate of cookies, which I have no idea where she got it from. Her smile never leaving her face, and her eyes filled with that excitement of discovery.

Y/n: Hey Ruby... How do you feel about this...

Ruby: What?

Y/n: The planet... being attacked...

Ruby: Oh... Ozpin had sent a message to every student...

Y/n: Are you worried?

Ruby: I... Yeah...

Ruby let out a shaky breath. I could practically see cracks starting to form. She's good at hiding it, but that's never a good thing. Those feelings would just build up, until they spill over.

She can change her emotions pretty fast too. It's a good skill. All Jedi are trained their whole lives in order to control them. Jedi must always stay calm, it's what brings us closest to The Force.

I looked at Ruby and mentally nodded to her controlling her emotions again. I didn't plan on telling her yet, but she had moved the same rocks I did, when she was lost in her daydream.

This is something I rather talk to Ruby when we are completely alone. It's also something I would like to bring up to Master Windu and the Jedi Council, but that would have to wait.

She has great control, but she's never at peace with herself. I can sense all the emotions in her swirling around like a hurricane. Convincing the Council to let me take her on as my Padawan would be practically impossible though.

I'll teach her as much as I can before the invasion anyways. I'd rather use everything I possibly can that's at my disposal. If I wanted to save myself and this planet then I'd have to use every trick I can come up with, and put all my faith in The Force. It's light will guide my path to victory.
