Assassin Again

This is one of the flashbacks of Yoko's life. I wrote it before i published this book. I only do that if i'm in a writing mode.

[Time: Spring]

Yoko's pov:

"This is gonna be the most perfect day off ever!" i hummed and swung my sack bag behind my back while walking in the forest trail.

Earlier ago>>>

"Hey no fair! Why did King Il let you had a day off?" asked 17 year old Hak in envious as he strike his monstrous spear at me, but i block his blow with my twin swords in 'x'.

I was shaken from the strong weight of the Thunder Beast. "Gosh, Mister Thunder Head is so strong. I wish i could just remove my mask." i muttered, at least he didn't hear it.

Me and Hak always practice secretly to just to test his strength or to ease the boredom out. Hak was the only one of the few people in the palace who knows that i had fighting skills.

I managed to release my block and dodges Hak's attacks. I hit him several times, but he always dodges and mostly blocks my blow using his spear.

I scoffed. "Yeah! I worked in the palace for a long time now and Emperor Il offered me a one month day off." i duck as his spear swung on me. "Hey! You nearly killed me!?" i yelled.

Hak smirks evilly. o_O Uh-oh i don't like that face. Everytime i see that grin, i know he's gonna do something bad or worst bloody.

I kept a perfect distance away from him, then i lift my swords in front of me, and positioned in defensive stance. Damn it for not able to use my dragon powers to beat him.

Clang!

The sound of the metal strike each other. The rule: if you make someone bleed, even it has to be a small scratch, you win.

Hak slashed my leg, then tackled me on the ground. The cut he made is even worst than the last fight he defeated me.

The Thunder Beast finally let me go and grin evilly. "Weird?"

"Hey no fair! This is the tenth time you defeated me." i scowled then he help me stood up.

"Hey! Yours is fifteen." Hak talked back and i pouted. (A/N: Yoko cannot show her true ability to someone.)

"So when your leaving?" he asked.

I shrugged. "Maybe tommorow morning." then i return the swords back.

Flashback ends>>>

The cut that Hak did grew painful and painful. "Damn you Thunder Beast." i clenched my fist. The bandage on my wound is painful, but it didn't made me crippled.

I ruffled my messy hair and eat my rice ball that i made. They're very delicious and the recipe is belong to an old friend of mine.

Few days later...

The black dragon's village lives in the borders of the Kai empire near the mountains towards the borders of Saika. No one knew the existence of the black dragon which is fine.

I stop at the mansion (japanese style) nearby to the black dragon's village. A blond mask girl waters her pot of flowers and herbs. In traditions, every umarried women here must wear masks to hide their identities or facts in their life.

"Akira-chan!" i shouted and waved my hand to the girl.

She stop and turn to me. She wore a half mask just like mine, but mine's is black and white; her's is plain pink and red.

"Yoko-san is that you?" Akira's tears falling on her cheeks.

I hugged her. Akira started to cry and hugged me a little too tight.

Time skip>>>

"Are you sure you'll buy while i stay here?" i asked anxiously at Akira.

She smiled. "I'll be alright. Don't worry about me, i'll tell the Chief about your return. It's been 7 years since you ran away."

"Yeah." i nodded.

Akira pick her basket then went to the black dragon's village which is a mile from here.

"I knew that if i come with her then we'll put ourselves endanger if the villagers found out that i was Kahuryuu."

I sigh then take a look at some edible herbs that Akira planted in her garden. There are roses, petunias, sunflower, rosemarry, blackpepper, sages, and bell peppers, the most plants she planted on land. The rest planted on the pots.

I took some herbs that i needed, which i already bought it from Akira earlier. Akira told me that she started studying medical herbs when she is ten years old. Later, she became a healer/doctor in the village. Then i sense death from the distance, i turn my head from the direction and saw the village is endanger from the unknown soldiers. They are not from Kai.

"Oh no..." i raced towards the village in inhuman speed.

I halted as i saw the soldiers and skulk behind the tree.

Third person's pov:

"You must tell where is the Phantom Assassin Chief or we will take every women in exchange!" soldier #1 grab Akira's wrist whom she stood beside the chief.

She cried, trying to let go of his grip. The blond woman had no choice, but to kick the guard at the stomach. It made him bend in pain; angry and stab the poor girl at the chest.

Yoko's heart began to ache with her emotions are full of anger, hate, and despair. Without thinking twice, she dashed towards to Akira whom breathe heavily on the chief's arms.

The black haired girl hug her friend. "Akira!" Yoko cried. "P-please don't die!"

(Author: Geesh. I'm terrible at death scenes.

Sister: But you've become a serial killer for years and killed 5 bodies.

Author: Those are animals and you're the only one whom killed 'em.)

The chief was shocked to see her. Yoko didn't care she knew the whole village was hiding fearfully from the soldiers. It was the Chief's orders.

Akira took off Yoko's mask and her's. She wanted to see each other faces before she would passed away. Yoko folded her wings tightly under her cloak, she doesn't want to get spotted. Akira is very beautiful, but her blue eyes are filled with pain and a bleak of sadness.

"Promise me one thing..." she whispered. "Please...if you found my brother. Tell him i'm sorry." Akira lifelessly let go of her grip on her bestfriend's hand.

"Akira! Noooooo!!!" Yoko screamed at the top of her lungs.

Soldiers started to invade the village, one of them kicked the old chief that made Yoko even more furious.

"So this is how they respect my people." she took her twin daggers out in fury.

She gashed every soldier in speed. At the end of the line, the cloaked girl grab the leader's collar and pinned him on the wall.

"Who send you here? And who the hell is that Phantom Assassin?!" the black haired girl yelled.

She lock her gaze at him with an piercing glare and mixed with bloodlust and death that made the leader screamed in fear.

"L-l-lord Kumji...sent us here...t-to find that assassin and eliminate him." the poor man spluttered in fear.

Her blood thirsty character changes in confusion.

The black haired girl finally let go of him. "You're at the wrong village." she tore her gaze away from him. "Now get lost! Before i'll change my mind!!" she yelled.

All of the baddies ran away, screaming in fear without saying a word. Yoko was still standing on her spot. The villagers saw the whole thing.

Right before they would step out their door, Yoko ran away and return to the mansion.

She slammed the door closed and wept on the wooden floor.

Yoko's pov:

My wings extended. "Why? Why her!" i yelled facing at the ceiling. "It's all my fault. I should've protect her! She doesn't deserve to die." i screamed.

(Sister: It's all yout fault, Author-san!)

"Kahuryuu?" a solf male voice enters the house.

I sniffs. "What do you want, Tadao?" that's the Chief's name.

"You shouldn't blame yourself." the wise, old Chief calmly spoke.

I groan. "Yeah, yeah. Your gonna tell me that i'm not guilty. Yada yada yada..." i tore my gaze at him. "Look, your the only one left in the village who knows me."

"This is not what i had in mind, Kahuryuu." Tadao gave me a serious look. "Do you know why, how that Lord Kumji knows about you?"

His words sparks my interests. I turn to him with a i'm-waiting look.

He sigh. "The previous black dragon, your mother, used to work as an assassin and trained in a young age as you did. Haruka had a secret mission which to eliminate main leader for causing human trafficking. That time, she brought you along with her."

I was utterly shocked when he said it. Tadao sighs and gaze at the window.

"And that time...her demise is near." he tore his gaze to me. "Am i correct?"

I was totally shaken when he said it. What?! I wanted to answer but my mouth is sealed shut, so i had no choice but to nod in yes.

"So why are you here? I thought you'll never come back." he asked me again.

My wings twitched and i let it spread it to it's full length. "I only came here...just to say Akira a proper farewell." i look up at the ceiling. "But i failed..."

"It was frustrating, unexpected, and heartbreaking. This isn't of what i wanted to return here."

"Chief. Is this the reason why Lord Kumji's officials are here?" i asked and wiped the tears off of my cheeks.

"No. I don't think they came here just because of your mother." he shook his head.

I thought for a moment. "Phantom Assassin... That is the name that i don't know." "I'm leaving." i stood up. "I will find that Assassin until i get the reason for his conflicts. Chief if the soldiers come back again make sure to build traps on the mountains." i told him.

The mountains between the borders of Kai and Saika are connected directly to our village. This is the only pathway that lead to the black dragon's village.

"As you command." he bowed then left the house.

Now it's time to become an assassin once more.
