7) The Battle Of Malta-II

General Erwin, Captain Tyler, John, and Stuart were having a meeting about how to plan the next attack on Malta. Tyler told everyone to plan something real quick because Malta could attack them any time, and if they made their move first, it would put Malta into a great pressure. The mood in the room was quite tense. All the four of them were discussing what they knew about their opponent. Stuart made a whole map of Malta and  the place he made to sneak inside the province. He also marked their ordnance depot. John explained all the types of weapons they possessed. The only problem was that of how to take them down. After listening to all the available information, Erwin had a suggestion.
"We can send a unit of our soldiers to Malta through the way that Stuart made. This unit will be led by Stuart himself. Then upon reaching there that unit will be divided into two. The first unit, which will be led by John, will take the soldiers he taught how to fly the plane, and the second unit will be led by Stuart who will guard the first unit. The rest of us, along with Tyler, will head for Malta to attack them. This way we will surround them from both ways and they would have to surrender then. What do you think about the plan, Tyler?"
Tyler said, "Well you made that plan, why wouldn't it be good? But there is one question. When we attack them?"
"In two days from now," Erwin replied. He further added, "John will recruit only the smartest of our soldiers who can learn how to fly this thing in two days."
At the round table conference in Malta, it's General, the captain of the army, the head of weapons department, and other army officials were discussing their plan to attack Bearsk. The General asked about the number of days it would take to prepare the army. The captain replied, "It will take a minimum of 4 days. We have given the order for the new equipment and they will come after 4 days."
"Cut it to 2 days. We don't need more equipment to attack them. Prepare the army for attack. We will be attacking Bearsk on Saturday morning," retorted the General.
"But sir—" General stopped the captain in between and said, "No if's, and, or but's. My order is the final order." And then he walked out of the room.
Both the provinces were ready to attack each other and both coincidentally at the same day. No one knew what would pan out—perhaps the result would be the same or perhaps the results would switch. Malta had all the advanced technology it needed to destroy Bearsk, but Bearsk was also no less now and was ready to face Malta with full confidence.
On Friday night, Tyler was sitting in his chair with his shotgun axe in his hand and thinking about the future of Bearsk. He remembers his brother's favorite saying: "Do or do not. There is no try. If you want to achieve something, then have determination for it or leave it."
Tyler couldn't get over the fact that many of his comrades got killed because of his plan to get successful. He didn't want to fail this time. He didn't want the sacrifice of his comrades to go in vain. The sight of the dead bodies of his soldiers lying in plain sight couldn't get off his mind. He couldn't stop thinking about the bloodshed that had been caused. Maybe the sensitive Tyler was not entirely gone. Maybe a small bit of it was there inside his heart.
The next day the soldiers were prepared, hot to trot to conquer Malta. Sheer determination could be seen in their faces. Now they couldn't afford to be defeated. They had everything in stake. Erwin had told John and Stuart to be ready with their units and commanded them to proceed forward. Erwin wished them luck and Tyler hugged the two of them. They made their headway towards Malta via the secret path made by Stuart.
Now Erwin was ready with his unit alongside Tyler. They were all set to move when a soldier interrupted Erwin by asking "We lost the first time. What's different now?"
Erwin replied, "The difference now is that we now know what the enemy is hiding."
The soldier asked him, "At what cost? At what cost are you saying that we could win? At the cost of our soldiers' meaningless life. We are short on soldiers this time. What if we die fighting? Will that be considered a win for us?"
Everyone was shocked to hear that. Nobody had even thought of it. Erwin responded, "Would you say that to your fallen comrades, their lives, were they meaningless? No, they weren't. It's us who gives meaning to our comrade's lives. The brave fallen! The anguished fallen! The ones who will remember them are...us, the living. We die trusting the living to follow to find meaning in our lives! This is the only sole method from which we could win. MY SOLDIERS, RAGE! MY SOLDIERS, SCREAM! MY SOLDIERS, FIGHT!"
There was a bellow of rage among the soldiers. Even Tyler seemed convinced with this. Erwin nodded Tyler and the soldiers stormed towards Malta.
At the province of Malta their soldiers were ready to wreak havoc on Bearsk. Their soldiers lined up and marched towards their arsenals. Arriving there they were taken by surprise when they saw that their fighter planes and other equipment had been confiscated by the soldiers of Bearsk. Stuart commanded his unit to take their positions and wait for Malta's soldiers to attack. Meanwhile, John's unit was making their move. This filled Malta's soldiers with great indignation and they charged towards them. There was also a soldier sent to inform Malta's General about this situation. General's face was distorted with rage when he got to know about it. He sent more of his soldiers to the scene to neutralise them. At the same time, Erwin and Tyler, along with their soldiers, were charging towards Malta. Now Malta was surrounded by two sides and all of their military equipment had been hijacked by Bearsk soldiers. They were dumbstruck by this move, but they were also not willing to accept defeat without a fight. They also attacked them with what they had in their hand, but that wasn't enough now Bearsk soldiers, though less in number, had full preparations and also a fool proof plan.
The soldiers from both sides clashed. It seemed like for every one soldier of Bearsk, there were five soldiers of Malta. For the first few moments it seemed that Malta was overpowering Bearsk, but soon the fighter planes came into the scene, this time from Bearsk side. They started to fire at Malta's army through the fighter planes. They also bombarded them with grenades. There was no hope for Malta to win now. This news got Malta's General anxious and feared of losing it's province. He decided to take part in war himself now.
At the field, Tyler was trying to make it to the Malta's General place to kill him. His eyes were filled with anger and revenge. No one could escape his wrath. When Malta's General stepped up in war, Tyler saw him, as his target had set his foot in the field. Tyler felt that it was the best time to kill him as his body is not warm enough to fight and he wouldn't be able to attack properly. It would take him time to adjust. He suddenly went berserk, killing everyone coming in his way to Malta's General. When the General saw a figure covered with blood moving at a very fast and non stopping rate towards him, he got alarmed and took his position. When Tyler made himself to General he swinged his shotgun axe towards General's head, but he defended it.
"Well, well, well...so you were the one who took Erwin from our captivity. Tyler Ross," General said. "Also I heard about your heroics very much. You are quite famous among the seven provinces."
Tyler made another attempt to attack him but failed to hit him this time again as General dodged it. They both battled for a long time with no clear outcome.
"You are like your brother, Tyler," stated General. Tyler was shocked to hear it.
"How do you know about my brother?" asked Tyler as he furiously swung his shotgun axe and injured the king's legs. "Answer me! How do you know about him?"
"Don't you recognise me son? I am your father, Jake. Jake Ross." Tyler was startled by this remark.
"That's not possible. You and mother died. This is not a joke," Tyler said, bewildered.
"Your mother's name was Betty. Am I not saying correct?" replied Jake. Tyler was perturbed by this. He didn't know what to do or how to reply. Jake words astounded Tyler. He got lost in thoughts and lost the track of war. Seeing this as a golden opportunity Jake stabbed Tyler in the stomach and said, "Son, because of you I had to kill Betty and abandon you and your brother. You brainwashed me so that your mission can be accomplished and I will not let you accomplish that."
"How...can this...be...possible," gasped Tyler. Jake replied, "You will ge—" Jake's head got sliced away from his body flying and landing about 2 meters away from his body. It was Erwin who did that. Erwin approached Tyler and said, "what happened to you Tyler? You froze and didn't make your next move. What did he tell you?"
"Nothing. I just got distracted."
After saying this, Tyler passed out.
Back again in Bearsk, the soldiers celebrated their victory and the army regained their respect. They had now won Malta and all of their weapons and fighter planes were officially of Bearsk. Now Bearsk was the most powerful province. The next day at a party hosted by Erwin in his house to all of his soldiers he once again thanked Tyler and said, "Only because of you are we so ahead now, Tyler. What would have happened if you were not there?"
Tyler replied, "No, General, it's not because of me, it's because of you only. You were the one who was in charge. These wins belong to you. I am only a pawn who helps you. At the end the decision is always yours. And we can't forget the ones who sacrificed themselves for the sake of our victory. Cheers to them!"
Everyone raised their glasses of wine, then drank them.
That night, the former General of Pantos was waiting outside the province gate for someone. A big, dark, hooded figure about six feet tall came and handed a letter to him and said, "Waiting for your response."
