Týr (Ch5)
"Bloody bastard!" Mimir yelled as Brok was still laughing.
"I did warn him that it was going to hurt," Hilda informed.
"Before you, three go off and do whatever you need, new armor stronger than you have on right now," Sindri informed.
"I'm sorry, three?" Hilda asked.
"We could... use a set of hands. But, unfortunately, mines are huge," Atreus informed.
"Um, you aren't going to be at the mine's doorstep if that is what you were hoping for. This will take you to the wetlands, and when you go to the town square, there is a tavern; ask for Durlin, and he will help you get where you need to go. But like I said, first, you all need armor," Sindri informed.
"Sindri, this isn't like you; you never like it when I travel far from here," Hilda said as he was getting armor for her ready.
"I-I know that, but even here, you might not be safe, Hilda. I know you can take care of yourself, but like it or not, if Odin gets desperate to stop Ragnarök, he will do anything and might even find this place. Also, I lied about the temple being unsafe; the doors would be faster than the temple, and the temple needs to be fixed a bit; it has not been used or maintained for five years; there have to be problems with it," he explained.
"So it is dangerous, plus you also think Odin would try to use that gateway since we have used it before," Hilda explained.
"Well, here you go, I'll try to keep making stronger armor, but I need ruins, forged iron," he paused.
"Sindri, I know; I have been collecting things from both of you for years," she chuckled as he smiled.
"Yeah, I forget that. Please be safe, Hilda, and here is your shield. I know you hate them because they are bulky, so I made this one into a bracelet; think shield, and it will appear. Here is the rest of your armor, and when you guys get back, there will be some fish and spiders waiting for you," he said as Brok was getting Atreus and Kratos's armor.
"Are you sure you want me to go? I can stay here; it won't bother me, Sindri," Hilda said softly.
"I am sure you need to go with them even though I feel like they will cause Ragnarok because Atreus saw Týr leading an army. There might be answers out there for you. Maybe you will find out who your father was and what your mother was really like before having you. Those answers I don't have, and you need to know," he said as she shook her head.
"I don't care about any of that, and you know that. As far as concerned, my father died before he met me, and I will care for him always, but you raised me for the last five years and taught me many things. So to me, you and Brok are my fathers and will always include the one I hope I meet one day," she smiled.
"Wow, that is the nicest thing you have ever said to me," Sindri said, trying to hold back tears.
She hugged him, and Sindri hugged her back. Atreus looked over to see the two huggings and Sindri trying hard not to cry. It was odd seeing him emotional because his father never called ever. But Sindri was not a warrior, just a dwarf.
"I'll be back soon," she smiled as she went to her room to change her clothes.
"Why do you wish for Hilda to join us?" Kratos asked as he sighed.
"She needs answers that I can't give her; maybe she will find them if she goes with you," Sindri explained.
"I will trust her; she has great skills," Kratos informed as she quickly slid down the banister and started grabbing some food for the road.
"Any of you hungry?" She asked as she started shoving food and shoving it in her mouth as fast as possible.
Atreus looked at her, shocked, seeing her eat three bowls of stew in a matter of minutes.
"Wow, you must be hungry," Atreus said.
"Perks about being mortal, hungry?" She asked as she gave him her bowl.
"What's in it?" He asked as he started eating some of it.
"Good stuff," she smiled as he hurried up and ate.
"Wow, that was good, actually," he said as he wiped his face.
"Glad you liked it; there was a spider in it," she laughed as she started to head for the door.
"Huh... Hey, wait up!" He said, putting the bowl down.
"You got to catch me, Atreus, but it looks like you are too slow!" She laughed as she passed Kratos.
"I'm way faster than you!" He said as he passed Kratos as well.
"Prove it!" She said as Kratos looked at them oddly.
"She is all over the place with the lad," Mimir pointed out as they tried to run to the gate, but when Atreus started to outrun her, she tickled him.
"Hey! That isn't fair! I'm not ticklish at all," he said as she smirked.
"Really?" She asked as he looked at her with a smile.
"I'm a man; men aren't ticklish," he said as she quickly started getting him making him laugh.
"Stop it!" He said as he started laughing.
"No, I don't think so," she said; he was trying desperately to stop.
If his father saw this, he knew he would be in massive trouble for showing weakness. He wasn't ticklish at all; he was playing along with her, and he liked it. Having someone with him his age would help him out when he was having a problem. She quickly stopped and got away from him so she could cough. Atreus got up off the ground soon as it seemed to be getting worse.
"Hilda?" Atreus asked as she finally was able to catch her breath.
"I'm fine; my cold might get worse. Luckily for you, you're a God and catch any human illness," she smiled as she coughed hard and a tiny bit of blood came up on her hand.
"Hilda, I think you should stay home," Atreus said softly as she smiled.
"Atreus, I'm fine. It's just a bit of blood; also, I have been coughing a lot it was bound to happen. So stop worrying now; let's get to work before Týr dies," Hilda informed.
"Alright," he said; she smiled at him.
"Great, let's go!" She said as she opened the door.
Kratos was close behind them, and he could feel the difference between the two children. Atreus watched Hilda like a hawk, as if she would fall over dead in the next few seconds. It was evident that something was wrong, so he was going to ask when Hilda was out of earshot. They opened the door, and she smiled.
"Welcome to the wetlands!" She smiled.
"Wow, it's so warm here," Atreus smiled.
"Yeah, but with all that on you, you will be sweating your balls off for sure," she said as a fast little creature came up to her, and she quickly killed it.
"What was that?" He asked.
"Something that wants to kill you, so be careful; some explode after a while if they are hit too hard," she informed.
"Explode?" Mimir asked.
"Yeah, I cut one open once, and since positions and extra minerals heavily pollute this place, some evolved to do that. Some explode when their stomach acid meets their throat or escapes their stomach. I make bombs out of the ingredients that made them that way," she explained as Mimir was impressed.
"How often have you been here?" Kratos asked.
"As often as Sindri needs me to be here, he doesn't like it here. To moist is what he likes to say," she said as she picked up one of the quick little creatures and moved it away from them quickly before gently setting it down.
"You could have just killed it," Atreus informed.
"It's a baby; I'm not killing a baby. If you see a pure white one, don't kill that one, either. She's my pet of sorts. Lady is what I called her; she's huge and fast, so be aware," she said as Atreus sighed.
"If she's anything like you, I better have my bow ready, just in case she tries to hit me with an axe," Atreus smiled as she looked at him, confused.
"She is a lizard, not a person," she said as he sighed.
They made their way to a boat after breaking a few things and crossing the water. They had to go under a small bridge, but while Kratos laid own as well as Atreus, Hilda stood up and got on top of the bridge.
"Hilda, what are you doing? You could have laid on me; there is lots of room," Atreus pointed out.
"Atreus, not to be mean to you in any way, but I will not have my head anywhere near your lap or on your lap," she said as he heard her walking over the bridge.
"Okay?" He said, more confused than anything else.
Mimir was again trying hard not to laugh, seeing how confused Atreus was as she got back in the boat. So they were on the rowboat a bit longer before making it to another patch of land.
It seemed pretty until they came across some bandits. There were so many trees, but in this part, there want that many. Beautiful green plants and flowers made him wish that Midgard was this way again before fimble winter started. Hilda would like Midgard, too, if she liked it here.
"Let us pass," Kratos said as they saw Hilda, and they started backing off a bit, but one guy, in particular, seemed a little too interested in her, so Atreus got in front of her.
"You're back, you little bitch!" A man growled as she smiled.
"Yeah, I am also again not interested, so if you excuse us, we got somewhere to be, and I told you if you got in my way again, you would end up dead, so leave the area now or else," she threatened, and they made way for them.
"You are not very popular around here," Atreus informed as he observed them.
"Yeah, Lady bit a couple of fingers off these guys last time we were here. Lady doesn't like it when people touch me; as far as she's concerned, I'm hers; anyone else is food," she explained as she quickly took out her knife and threw it into a guy's arm as he took out his knife.
"Oh... does she like treats?" Atreus asked, not wanting to get murdered.
"You bitch!" The man screamed as the others stepped away from her.
"I don't like how you tried to do something stupid when I wasn't looking. Next time I'm cutting off your balls, and trust me, I'm excellent at it o have done it before," she growled.
They passed without a hitch after that, and they threw a cave. After that, they went to another area, and it was silent the whole way there until they went to a part of the area, and she made the barrier rise so they could pass threw it.
"Did you castrate a man?" Mimir asked.
"Actually, seven before Sindri and I met. I was held captive by cannibals for a week; I got scars, but they ended up dead. We should be able to pass now," she said as Atreus gulped.
"Sorry I asked; I may not have a body, but I feel it," Mimir informed as they headed to the boat.
"Couldn't you just break loose since you are a giant?" Atreus asked.
"Have you ever been chained to a tree when you haven't eaten in two days? Also, when you got hit from behind, fun times, plus you should have seen the mass of bodies they had. I was the only one alive out of their victims," she replied as they started again.
"So, changing the subject, I don't see why the dwarfs would be working with Odin after what he has done to them; why would they be working for him now?" Atreus
"Well, money sometimes blinds people, and they were also tricked into doing it," Mimir informed.
"Maybe a couple of gods should start a war to put him in his place," Atreus announced as everyone looked at him.
"Atreus, that is not why we are here," Kratos said
"I was only joking," Atreus explained.
"War is not a joke, especially when God's are concerned," Kratos informed.
"Wars don't have any real winners; they take away a lot of things. In Midgard, I may not have been in a real war, but it sure felt like it when I was alone. Trust was the hardest thing I had to relearn, dealing with all the bad things I killed when I slept at night. Fearing a war that has yet to come true, he killed off part of his problem," she said as Atreus sighed weakly.
"So what do you hope to accomplish by talking to Týr?" Kratos asked as they had to return to the boat because another lake was in the way.
"Fimble winter is affecting this area badly, and the earthquakes, the land is sinking into the ground. I hope Lady didn't get killed here," Hilda informed.
"I just want to know about Loki and maybe see if he will tell old war stories for, you know, historical reasons," he said as Hilda huffed.
"He has been locked up for who knows how long. I dought he knew anything about this Loki guy. Since when we're you looking for him?" Hilda asked.
"Oh no, my giant name is Loki; I just want to figure out my path in life," he said as she nodded.
"Paths are made by our choices, not by fate or by a guy that has been locked up for years. My suggestion is to forget what you know and start over," Hilda informed as they went to another area.
"If you do not remember your past, you will repeat the same mistakes you made already," Kratos pointed out.
"I have trust issues and try not to kill people unless I have to. I remember all my mistakes, but I needed to forget how I was before I met Sindri to relearn trusting people," she explained as she started to look for the other place they needed to be in.
