The Promise (Ch10)

Hilda hit the ground hard as well as Kratos making them increasingly mad that these guys came out of no where. Hilda got out her axes and so did Kratos and they both started fighting the guys that tackled them down.

"I'm not letting anybody get in the way of making sure that stupid boy is safe," she growled as she threw both axes then quickly punched another guy hard.

A jolt of a electricity went to her fist making the guy fly far she called back both axes and quickly killed another guy before Kratos killed the last guy.

"Kratos, I think Odin is here. If he's here I'll hold him off while you get Atreus out of here," Hilda said.

"You will not fight Odin alone," Kratos said.

"Hilda you are in no shape to fight him by yourself," Mimir added.

"There is no room to discuss this matter. He wants your son for who knows what and if he gets desperate he might just take hom when ever he feels like and there will be nothing you can do to stop him. You will have to fight to get him back," Hilda informed.

"You are a child I will not let you fight a battle that is not yours," Kratos informed.

"You will die if you fight him," Hilda informed.

"I taught him how to survive without me," he said.

"I grew up without without my mother, I was alone for a year! You may have trained him to live without you but the grief will eat him alive! He will want revenge and he will get himself killed! I'm expendable you aren't. I maybe a child but I know what I would do if I was him. You will take your son and leave me behind if Odin is here. I have enough explosives to take down this mine I know it won't kill him but it should buy some time maybe send his ass back to asgsrd. I have a bad feeling he is here and I will make sure you get out," she said.

"I will not let you die for me," Kratos informed.

"Yes you will, forget about me, forget about Týr. Your son is the most important person here, I'm not he might kill your son if you don't let him go to asgsrd with him the next time he askes. Let's go get your son. I came here to help you and so I will as long as I am able. So if the worst comes to worst leave me behind do you understand?" Hilda asked as he grunted.

"It's a yes or a no qestion, Sindri said you were a general once so you know that this is the right move. Yes or no," she said as Kratos had to agree with her.

It was the right move but he hated the thought that ahilda was going to fight him alone. But her doing this confirmed that she trusted him a lot enough to die for them.

"Yes," Kratos said as she nodded.

"Kratos you can't!" Mimir protested.

"Odin is going after my son, Hilda is not what he wants so he will kill her for getting in his way," Kratos informed.

"And if he takes her alive?" Mimir questioned.

"I won't let him, so don't worry about me worry about getting your son out of here alive," Hilda said she quickly took off to find Atreus.

"You are willing to let another child die for yours?" Mimir asked as Kratos started to fallow her.

"No, her reasoning is flawed for wanting to sacrifice herself for Atreus. But Odin wants him however, he doesn't want to start a war," Kratos informed.

"You think Hilda still wants Odin dead?" Kratos asked.

"Yes, who doesnt?" Mimir asked as Hilda got out her broke sword and threw it hard at one of the Eninrjar men and then got out one of her axes.

She quickly chopped off his head them stopped as she heard Atreus yelling for Týr.

"Atreus!" Kratos yelled as a man quickly tried to kill him but he quickly killed him before Atreus voice went further away.

"I have had enough of this, Kratos step back," Hilda as she grabbed a bomb from her bag and quickly lit it.

She threw it at a wall creating a short cut to Atreus but also to more enemies. Kratos quickly started taking care of the bull creature while Hilda took care of the others that happened to be there.

"Father can't him off he is getting away!" Atreus yelled as he was chasing Týr down.

"I can't belive he is just running away! I know he has been imprisoned; do you think Odin has done this before but with a close friend of his?" Hilda asked.

"Anything is possible," Mimir informed as they found a way to get to Atreus.

Hilda quickly got rid of some more guys as well as Kratos then they headed to Atreus's side.

"We are here to help you this is my father Kratos and my friend Hilda," Atreus informed.

"Please go away, leave me alone," he said.

"We are trying to get you away from Odin," Atreus said as Kratos quickly grabbed him and pinned Týr to the wall.

"Are you the God of war?! Aren't you a leader of men?! Get it together! My son brought us down here to save You! Look at him!" Kratos yelled as Hilda sat down to rest.

Hilda started coughing and coughed up blood making her sigh weakly. She was dying maybe. Her body was giving out and she wasn't getting better really.

"Why would you come here? You don't even know me," Týr said.

"But we know what you stood for, what you you did for the giants. We are here to return the favor," Atreus said as Týr looked at him confused.

"We?" He asked.

"My father and Hilda," he explained as he looked over and saw Hilda sitting down.

"Hilda?" Atreus asked as she wiped the blood away and she looked at him and stood up.

"Sorry I'm part human and giant," Hilda said as Atreus went to her and looked her over.

"When we get out of here I'm making dinner," he said as she smiled.

"You better, I might just need to sleep," she said as he smiled.

"I can also help with that, later though let's get out of here," Atreus said as she coughed again but no blood came out this time.

"We are leaving, are you coming with us?" Kratos asked as he nodded.

He nodded and stood up making him tower over Kratos and both Atreus and Hilda. He had to be at least nine feet tall with was impressive to say the least. Atreus grabbed a spear and tried to explain to him why he needed the spear.

"I don't need a walking stick thank you," he said as Atreus was trying to actually give him a weapon to use.

Týr nelt down and put his hands on Atreus making Hilda a bit upset since she didn't know him. She wanted to tell him off and punch him in the face but she held back from that.

"Sorry i don't... I don't see things clearly anymore my mind is..." he paused.

"These are strange times brother, we dont blame you," Mimir informed as Týr looked at Mimir confused.

"We all heard Mimir talk right?" He asked as he got up.

"Yes," Atreus said as Týr and Atreus went off ahead after Atreus made sure she was okay.

"So what should I call all of you?" He asked.

"I'm Atreus and that is my father Kratos and that is my friend Hilda," he informed.

"How does the son of the spartan become a voice for the giants?" He asked as he started to explain that his mother was a giant named Laufy and everything that happened thus far.

Hilda was watching him carefully because she didn't trust him at all. Something was off but maybe it was also because she felt like Odin was around. She had that feeling a lot and so far Odin wasn't around but that didn't mean that he wasn't close by. They started to get out of the area and Hilda stayed close to Atreus because she really didn't trust him at all and she wanted to make sure that Atreus wouldn't get hurt. But then there ground started shaking making Atreus grab her to help her keep balance.

"Atreus I'm fine," Hilda said as he saw how rough she looked.

"Hilda I know you aren't and it's okay not to be. I don't want to push you to hard and you end up hurt or worse," he explained as she looked at him annoyed.

"I have had worse, a little fall won't hurt me," Hilda said as she pulled away from him.

"You coughed up blood," Atreus said.

"Yeah I did and I'm fine," she said as she backed off from him a bit.

"You two seem close," Týr said as they went to the elevator.

"We just um met a couple of days ago," Atreus said as Hilda sat down making all of her bones pop.

"Why exactly did you free me? Odins wrath is brutal and he will not go easy on you even if you are a child," Týr said.

"Well ragnarok is coming and..." he paused.

"You freed me to start a war?" He asked as he looked down sadly.

"No we..." Atreus paused.

"So Týr it's good to see you in the flesh again," Mimir said as they started to head up.

"Mimir what has become of you?" He asked as Atreus went to Hilda.

This time he didn't ask if she was okay because she would just lie about it, he could tell she wasn't doing alright. Her face was pale, her breathing was labored and she looked extremely tired. She looked at him as he stood next to her.

"You aren't going to ask me how I'm doing?" Hilda asked.

"I don't need to this time, no offense you look bad," he said as she smiled.

"That's nice, I hope Sindri doesn't try to kick your butts," Hilda said as they stopped and he helped her up.

"Me to, I don't want you to have to stay home when we go somewhere else for more answers. We might have to take some days to rest and think of a plan," Atreus informed as her body popped more.

"Yeah we definitely need a plan since we took one of Odins toys away," she said as they started to head out for home.

"Great more enemies, Hilda I think you should stay back," Atreus said as he got out his bow and so did Hilda.

"I don't just have my axes and sword you know," she said as she fired off her bow killing an enime and Atreus smiles at her.

"You know what I mean," he said as Kratos was quickly cutting down enimes.

Hilda had Atreus's back the entire time as well as Kratos. She quickly used her last two arrows to save Kratos from getting posioned and she sighed as she put her bow away and got her Axes out.

"I'm out!" She said as Atreus was killing enimes left and right.

"Use mine!" He said as she smiled.

"I got something better!" She said as she quickly threw one of her axes and quickly defended with the other one.

A bot of electricity came from her and quickly went to her ax hitting the monster and sending it flying making her really confused. There were no monsters left and she went to the monster that went flying.

"What's wrong?" Atreus asked as she looked at Atreus worried.

"I think I might have a new power," she said as she saw the burn marks on its chest.

"Cool! What is it?" Atreus asked.

"I don't actually know, one minute I was defending and the next minute this thing goes flying and I have no explanation for it," Hilda informed.

"Huh, maybe your ax deflected what ever was trying to come out of this thing," Atreus said as she nodded.

"Yeah maybe we need to leave before Odin comes," Hilda said they quickly wrnt to the boat.

"Before we go any further the truth," Týr said making Hilda look at him closely.

"Did you free me to start a war or worse lead you into war? I gave that up a long time ago my fight is gone and if that is what you want from me then please kill me," he said as Kratos called over Atreus.

"No one is killing you brother," Mimir informed.

"We just need answers, the giants trusted you, a lot of people did. We need that Týr," Atreus informed.

""I'm not sure if I can give you the answers you seek Atreus. Maybe after a good nights rest and some food," he informed as they started to head out.

Atreus stated explain what happened to Thor's sons and also to Baldor making /ýr shocked to say the least but Hilda had this weird feeling that Odin was around. He must have his spies round or worse he was sending some here. The ground started shaking again making her look up at the sky to see flashes of light.

"We have some unwelcomed guests!" Hilda said as they quickly started to hurry to the door.

They quickly went threw the door and Hilda sighed weakly.

"What about the dwarfs?!" Atreus asked as Hilda put a hand on his shoulder.

"Odin wouldn't hurt them as far as I know, he will be looking for us though," Hilda said as they started to head home Kratos walked in front so Hilda caught up with him.

"I dont trust Týr I know it takes me a long time to trust people but something is off I can't put my finger on it," Hilda whispered.

"Do you not trust Atreus's decision to free him?" Kratos asked.

"No its just hard to explain I guess, it's like a sinking feeling. I didn't feel this with you or your son. I feel it sometimes when I was alone out in the woods like something was watching me almost," Hilda explained as Kratos looked down at her.

"You are scared of him, Odin had your mother killed and you were there to see it happen. We freeded one of his prisoners, you are afraid he will come here and kill us all like your mother but here you are safe. You are afraid for the people you call friend," he explained as Hilda sighed.

"That could be it, I have been worried that some how I take him him to my home," she informed.

"Your fears are not unwarranted, we will watch Týr. Do not let your fear over take you, control it. Let it serve you," he said as she nodded.

"Thank you, I'm sorry for letting my fear get the better of me," Hilda said softly.

"You were expressing your concerns about Týr even if they were out of fear you were thinking of your family not just yourself," he said as her home was in sight.

"Father I'm home!" Hilda yelled as she started to run ahead and picked up some rocks she had in a pile and threw them at a bell.

She started taking off running to the building and Sindri came out of the house.

"Hilda to fast!" Sindri yelled as she picked him up and spun him around.

"I'm going to get sick stop it!" He said he hugged her tightly.

"I thought you said Hilda was a giant," Týr said as Atreus nodded.

"Her parents are both gone, two dwarfs brothers took her in," Atreus explained as Kratos started picking up her armor.

"Sindri I have so much to tell you and Brok! Oh yeah also I collected lots of materials for weapons and armor," she said as sat him down.

"Great! Hilda I'm so happy to see you, you were gone for three days! Well from when you left till now three days! I was actually getting ready to head over there," he said as he looked at her full of concern.

"I'm fine we brought a friend well not my friend but you get what I mean," she said as he nodded.

"Okay, come on tell me all about it! Don't leave out a single detail," Sindri said as they went inside.

Atreus started to help make dinner and Hilda as promised didn't leave a single detail about there adventure making him deep down terrified. Hoe she was able to make the lone back move from the monsters and lady laying eggs also to how she fell threw the floor. It was alot to take in and Sindri was extremely worried for her now because she also talked about her throwing up blood and coughing it up.

"Kratos can I speak with you?" Sindri asked as Brok was pleased to hear about the journey.

They went far away from Atreus and Hilda and Sindri looked over at them for a second.

"Hilda is not a God, she can't take as much as you or your son can and you letting her use her powers like that could have killed her!" Sindri informed.

"She made her choice, we did not force her to use her powers. She knew the risks of coming with us. We might not be here if it wasn't for her and that creature would still be in the bay suffering. She did more then she needed to for that I am grateful. She maybe half human but it didn't stop her from fighting or continue on our quest even when she was in pain. She is stronger then she looks and you should be proud of her. She was willing to blow up the whole mine to make sure me and Atreus got out safely if Odin was there. She is brave and I am impressed with her skills," Kratos informed.

Sindri looked over at her and saw how Atreus was sitting rather close to her while they were eatting making Kratos look over at them as well.

"Pottery?" Atreus asked kind of loud.

"You need to try it at least once," she informed.

"But isn't that a woman thing?" He asked as she hit him hard.

"Ow!"

"Not everything is one gender," she said as he took her bowl.

"I can get you more if you want," he said as she got up making her bones pop.

"I think actually that would be a good idea," she said as she sat back down.

"Wow she actually made friends, never thought I would see the day she actually trusted people other then the dwarfs," he said as Atreus gave her an extra bowl and Atreus walked over to them.

"Is it okay if Hilda sleeps with me tonight?" Atreus asked making Sindri looked at him shocked.

"I'm sorry did you ask me for permission to sleep my my daughter?!" Sindri asked.

"Hilda has been having bad nightmares and is a really light sleeper. So I was thinking maybe if she had someone with her maybe she can sleep in a bed and actually get a good night's rest for once. She told me she tried everything but it's worth a shot," Atreus explained as Sindri calmed down a bit.

"Atreus I know you want to help her but she will not agree to it, before she took out the door and railing she almost killed me by accident. Her nightmares are not to be taken lightly," he explained.

"I know but I really just want to help her," he informed as Sindri sighed.

"Okay if you can, but she will say no to you. Don't be upset if she does plase," Sindri informed as he nodded.

"Thank you Sindri, would it be alright with you father?" Atreus asked as he thought about it.

"If she agrees to it," he said as he nodded and headed off back over to Hilda probably not telling her anything about what he asked to do.

"You should give him the talk before he gets any ideas," Sindri said as Kratos new his son was turning into a man quickly especially now because Hilda was around.

He didn't want to give him the talk about what was going on to Atreus's body but he was going to figure it out sooner or later. Night came and Hilda sat by the stairs while everyone else was in there rooms except Atreus who was kind of nervous about asking her to back into his bedroom. He didn't know why, she was just a girl nothing really else. Maybe it was a mistake because she was some how making him feel weird and he couldn't figure out what it could actually mean. Maybe he was getting sick to. He was definitely going to talk to his father about it in the morning.

"Hey Hilda," Atreus said as she looked up at him.

"Hey, what's wrong?" She asked.

"Nothing I just um... why don't you sleep in my room tonight," he said as she looked at him confused.

"Why?" She asked as she stood up.

"Well you have been having nightmares so I asked your father and mine if it was okay for us to sleep in the same bed together since you said you tried everything but you never had anyone by you," he explained as she looked at him shocked.

"Hold on you are asking me to sleep next to you even though you know what could happen? My father actually said yes?" She asked as he nodded.

"Yes..." he said as she looked at him closely.

"You aren't lying... oh my gosh you have no idea do you?" She asked as he looked at her confused.

"Know what?" Atreus asked.

"That explains so much, Atreus look I might kill you, you do understand that right?" She asked.

"Yeah that's why I'm leaving my weapons by the door also leaving the door open," he explained as she looked at him with a bit of suspension.

How did this kid not know about how babies came into the world? He wasn't playing dumb as far as she knew but if he was he was the best at lying about it. The door would be open and she could easily kick his ass if he tried anything funny. Sindri also said it was fine which was odd so maybe he was counting on her to make the right choice. She sighed weakly and looked at him as he smiled.

"Is that you saying yes?" He asked.

"Yes... just please Atreus the last thing I want is for you to die by me killing you. I killed enough," she said as he nodded.

"Don't worry I will be careful," he said as he took her to his bedroom and put all of his weapons by the door and jumped into bed while she looked terrified.

She stayed back but Atreus held out his hand to her.

"Come on you can do it, I promise I won't leave until you wake up," he said as she didn't take his hand at first but after a couple of minutes she remembered what Kratos said about being afraid.

She took his hand and he helped her up then laid down next to her.

"See not so bad since you have a friend right?" He asked with a cheeky smile.

"I- I can't so this. I'll hurt you this was a big mistake," she said as she was about to get up but he grabbed her arm lightly.

"I know you don't trust a lot of people and you have been trying to do this for a while but I promise I won't leave you alone while you sleep. Please stay and try this once to sleep in a bed with me. I know you are scared of yourself but I'm not scared of you," he said as he moved his hand down to hers.

"You really don't know me that well I could hurt you," she stared.

"I'm a God remember? I can heal fast it will be okay. Trust me please, you helped me when I needed it so let me help you," he said as she was trying to fight the urge to run.

He trusted her so she needed to do the same. She laid down next to him and he removed his hand away and laid on his side to his back to Hilda but after a couple of minutes of silence he was getting worried that Hilda was laying there still afraid of herself.

"If you want I can tell you a story if that will help-" he paused as he turned to see her sleeping next to him making him actually a bit shocked, "you sleep."

He saw her breathing was still uneven and it seemed her nightmare had already started so he got closer to her. He put hand around her and moved himself closer to her. He moved his hand away from her for a second but decided to grab one of her hands to make sure she knew he was still there.

Brok dropped Hilda's new sword on the ground by accident making Sindri sighed weakly.

"Hilda will be up now we have to hide it!" Sindri whispered as Brok quickly went to find a place to hide it.

A few minutes passed and Hilda was no where to be found. Sindri started to look around and remembered that Atreus asked if Hilda could sleep next to him.

"You better not be doing what I think you're doing," he muttered as he went to Atreus's room.

To his surprise Hilda was actually sleeping next to Atreus. She didn't even wake up making him happy but also a bit worried. He was worried that they would always need to do this now and if he died maybe she will never be able to trust anyone but the dwarfs for the rest of her life. She did need new frinds her age but he wanted to keep her safe. She also had a hard time trusting everybkdy she came across. He got out a piece of paper that was old looking and sighed weakly.

"Three days... three days hopefully Fraja will still be willing to do this," he said as he went back to the forge to finish her new sword.
