The Flirt
"Well, at least we know what your powers mean," Atreus said as they left.
"Yeah, but still, life and death? Am I like that box in that story you told or something way worse?" Hilda said.
"You are not the box nor the key to the box. Your powers could just be relations of the past and the present, nothing more," Kratos said as he broke down a wall to reveal light elves.
She quickly put them to sleep and sighed.
"But I can make dreams come to life as well; I guess I don't know. But those vines or chains, whatever they are, I know I can't use them, but yet it feels like they want to be used on something or rather someone. Maybe I'm supposed to fight Odin or stop something terrible from happening. All these what-ifs are driving me up the wall," she said; even though the plan was clear as day for her, she wanted it to be different or find another way.
"We do have more questions than answers, but we will not find them if we stop looking for them," she informed as they came upon a big door.
"This is a big door. I wonder what's inside," Atreus said as Hilda sighed.
"Atreus, there are like only one of four things behind there. One a lot of nothing, two a monster, three an army, four treasure. Either way, do you want to go up against whatever is in there?" Hilda asked.
"Well, you said there could be nothing in there, but the only way we can find out is if we look," Atreus said.
"You want to look that bad?" Hilda said as Kratos went over and opened the door even though he didn't know what was behind it.
"Um, Father, I feel like something is in there," Atreus said as he could feel it now.
Hilda used her powers to protect him as the doors flew open, revealing a large animal. Hilda tried to use her powers to stop the beast from rampaging, but her powers quit working at the worst possible time.
"Seriously? Work!" Hilda said as the monster went after her, but Atreus got her out of the way and shot some of his arrows at the beast to get it away from them.
"What's wrong with your powers?" Atreus asked.
"Does it look like I know? They told me to die, remember?" She asked as they all started to fight the beast together.
It was a lot harder than it looked since it shot spikes, and it kept charging at them like a pissed-off animal would when threatened. It even shook the ground when it stomped around, making it uneven. It was a Gravel belly, and those things were strong, mean, and, worst of all, prone to being violent.
Luckily, the elves weren't harmed when they were attacking the beast, and they were still fast asleep, like nothing had happened at all. Hilda's powers even came back, which threw her off and confused her. It had to be that she used them too much, and her body needed rest. It was hard to say, but it didn't make that much sense.
"Are you alright?" Atreus asked as Hilda sighed a bit.
"Yeah, I don't understand why my powers just stopped working like that," she said, annoyed.
"Maybe you are just too beautiful for your powers," Atreus said as Hilda looked at him.
"Really, Atreus?" She asked with a bit of a smirk.
"What? Can't a guy try?" He asked with a smile.
"Well, I guess since you are just the cutest thing in all the nine realms to me anyway," she said as he turned red.
"You think I'm cute, huh?" Atreus asked as he was once again flexing to make her laugh.
"Will you two stop it already? We got some exploding to do," Mimir said as Hilda was laughing at Atreus for being a dork.
"Sorry, Hilda gave me this big ego, and I have to give it back to her somehow," Atreus smiled as Hilda laughed harder.
"You give me too much power. Don't blame me for you being weird and wanting to flirt with me every five minutes," she informed him as he smiled.
"But you do like it. It makes you laugh, and that's why I do it," he smirked.
"What did I sign up for?" She asked.
"Great question. You will just have to find out," he smiled as they explored.
"I will never understand how you two ended up together," Mimir said. Atreus smiled.
"My amazing good looks got her," he chuckled.
"More like your innocents got me, and I may have corrupted you," she said.
"Well, it's better than having someone else do it; plus, you are something I have always needed, even if I didn't know it," he said with a smile.
"You are for me, too; I know I haven't been the easiest on you, but I'm glad you gave me the time I needed and never pushed me into doing anything," she said as they came across a cave.
"Well, I wanted to be your friend. I was just surprised you liked me; I know I'm a bit stubborn," he said.
"A little stubborn?" She asked.
"Okay, a lot, but so are you!" He said as they were greater by enemies.
"You take a left, I take, right?" She asked.
"Can't you make them fall asleep?" Atreus asked.
"Oh yeah, I forgot; let's see," she said as she quickly tried to make them sleep until she realized they weren't elves.
"Not elves! We got to take care of these guys!" Hilda said as they started to fight them together.
"Well, that was not what I expected," Atreus said as they found more hive stuff.
"Okay, I'm not even going to try this. I need way more strength and skills to do that," Hilda informed Atreus, and he agreed with her.
Kratos got it relatively easy, which led to a chest; it did have some stuff in it that Sindri and Brok could use, and when they went to the other side, they got the other chest that was about the same. Nothing too interesting to them, but they did it anyway because they were here.
"Do you wish to go to Vanaheim?" Kratos asked as they looked at him.
"If we go there, maybe Fraya can make something if you get bad again," Atreus said.
"She might know something about what is causing it. If I give her my symptoms, maybe it can help with whatever Odin gave my mother," Hilda said.
"It might," Atreus informed as Hilda sighed.
"I just, I hope it works. I don't want my powers to hurt you," Hilda said.
"Hey, even if you hurt me, I know it's not intentional. You have tried so hard to keep me safe, and you know I will do the same for you. I know your powers are crazy and unpredictable. They also want to kill you, but I am not afraid. We do this together," he said as they started to head to the new area.
"Well, you have guts; most guys would run," she said.
"I'm not most guys, plus I do like adventures," he smiled.
"Well, hopefully, Fraya will have some answers then," Hilda said as they went through the gate.
