Helping Hand
Once they got back to the camp, they were informed they found Freya's brother and the other guy in a base, and now they had to go there separately to provide a distraction. Kratos had filled in Fraya about Hilda's powers causing issues with her, but there was nothing they could do at the moment to fix them. Hildsvini was going to take Atreus and Hilda, while Freya took Kratos. Having both the kids tasked to find Freyr was something that Kratos wasn't okay with, but he trusted them to make intelligent choices. Also, Hilda's powers were becoming increasingly unstable, which meant that the likelihood of her releasing a strong attack that could do some damage was fifty-fifty. Kratos started walking with Fraya to the camp, where she hoped to find her brother alive.
The chances were slim, but Kratos hoped to since she already lost so much. Everybody lost in this battle to stop Ragnarok, and it would only get worse if a real all-out war was to take place in the realms. Kratos also didn't know how much Hilda's body would last with her powers without the cure they needed. He didn't know if there was one out there, but she was running out of time, and he could tell. Maybe the worst thing to happen was she became human. Atreus would be devastated because she wouldn't live long, and having long lives was more like a curse than a blessing sometimes. For now, he had to focus on finding Freyr.
"Hilda, are you sure about this?" Atreus asked as they took their separate ways from Atreus's father.
"Yes, look, I know my powers have been scaring the shit out of you, and they have been doing that to me too, but we have things to do, and if it means no cure for me and I explode, so be it. This is important, and we can't let Odin get away with things anymore. I mean, he sent his little I'm so tough because I can predict people every move kid to steal the moon! Who in their right mind would steal a moon? How he did it is beyond me, but still, he did it, and the chances of him being there are high. He wants to kill both of us, especially since I said he is only there to suck Odin's tiny dick," Hilda informed as Hildsvini looked at her oddly.
"You accused one of the most powerful men by Odin's side of only staying with Odin to suck his dick?" He asked.
"Heck yeah, I did, he didn't even see it coming, and he had no come back for it either, which was great," she said.
"He didn't know you were going to say that?" He asked.
"Nope, my powers are everywhere, so that he couldn't read my thoughts. That or he is into kids, and I don't want to think about that," Hilda said as Atreus tried hard not to chuckle.
Hilda was Broks kid more than Sindri's; even though she could forge like him, she ran her mouth just like Brok. Atreus wouldn't lie that he could see Brok in her sometimes when he spoke, and he loved it. He acted like his dad in some aspects, and seeing what Sindri and Brok did for her made him feel like they did a good job with her. She wasn't a pushover, and she was willing to accept responsibility for her actions rather than blame them on someone else. They went where they were supposed to be and got ready for the signal.
Fraya and Kratos passed the spot where they fought Hilda's best friend, and Kratos picked up the piece of clothing she had put a spell on. Kratos had doughts that it was going to work, but it did. He was happy that he didn't have to kill the creature that she cared for so deeply, but at the same time, he would have if it was necessary, even if it was her friend.
"Hilda's kindness to that creature paid off this time," Fraya informed.
"They have a mutual understanding, and she knows Hilda would never hurt her intentionally," Kratos informed as he put the shirt in his pocket, and they continued their journey through the thick woods.
The woods were beautiful; no one could have denied it. It was teaming with the natives that lived here, but since Thor killed them or Odin did to control the land, he hadn't seen anything but ruins. He wasn't a social person anyway, but Atreus wanted to know everything and was willing to do the work, and so was Hilda.
"What? I don't understand how she became friends with her in the first place. I know she told us, but it's still odd," Mimir added, thinking about what Hilda had said.
Ordinary people would have run as soon as they saw her or tried to kill her, but instead, she tried returning her child to her. Hilda gave her treats and played with her even. Mimir had suspected that the giant creature knew something they didn't or smelled something that made her feel safe enough to trust Hilda. If only there were a way to ask her.
"Not really; if you had a giant monster living with you and no friends, what would you do?" Freya asked as she started pulling vines away to reveal a shrine that got covered up over the years.
"I suppose you are right," Mimir informed.
"When we get there, just make sure you make a lot of noise," Fraya informed.
"I'm not worried for them, Atreus is ready to fight on his own, and even without her powers, Hilda is not afraid to fight," Kratos informed, hoping deep down they would be alright.
"I hope her powers stop working again after we save my brother. Please call on Skoll, please," Freya said as he nodded.
"Her powers may be unstable, but that makes them unpredictable; sometimes, you can work that to your advantage. Hilda knows her limits, and with her powers growing in strength, even the smallest amount of magic is useful somehow," Kratos informed.
He called on Skoll, and the day turned into night, which would already cause some issues and maybe signal the enemies that they were coming. They went further until they came across an open area, and Fraya set off the flare.
"There it is; you ready?" Atreus asked as Hilda nodded.
They had been waiting for five minutes now with Hildsvini, men hiding in their places now ready to take action. Hopefully, this would work, but Hilda still had a very bad feeling Heimdall was around, and she knew the prophecy. She didn't want Ragnarok to start, but with how everything was going, it would happen no matter what they did now. If this war was going to happen, then she was going to do what she was literally born to do. She looked at Atreus and looked down at the necklace he had made for her, and sighed.
"Born ready," She said as Atreus noticed black lines started to appear on her face.
"Hilda?" Atreus asked as her smile faded, and her eyes turned pure black.
It was sudden, and he barely noticed it until it consumed her. This had never happened before, and it scared Atreus. Thinking that whatever it was trying to escape was doing it now at the worst time scared him. They had a job to do and very little time to do it.
"Hilda," Atreus said as he grabbed some water and splashed it on her face making her snap out of it.
"Atreus? I did it again, didn't I?" She asked as they started to sneak around and kill people.
"Yeah, you just changed. You didn't have time to warn me," Atreus informed.
"Shit, did I say or do anything?" She asked.
"No, you just spaced out," Atreus informed.
"Heimdall," Freya said as he came into view with his pet.
"Nice to see you again, princess of mistletoe. Hilarious, by the way," He said as she shot an arrow and grabbed it.
"You must be the half breeds, father. Lucky day because you have a lot to answer for, especially for that little blond slut that your half-breed is sleeping with. I wonder how many boys she had slept with before your son," he informed.
"Go, Fraya, you need to go help your brother," Kratos said as there was an explosion and gold glitter started to fall on them.
"We both know what happens here, Kratos. I know you didn't want this," Fraya said.
"I know, I can handle it," Kratos informed as Fraya nodded and headed out to help the group free her brother and the light elf.
"You know that little slut that Atreus has by his side won't live very long. She is dying every time her powers make her veins turn black which is poison. Very strong poison which has no cure but you still want to save her," Heimdall informed.
"There is a cure out there," Kratos informed.
"No there isn't not even Freya can fix it and you know that deep down. You destroyed the only thing that could save her and those were her chains. Making her use her powers like that and protecting your son has killed her and you two will have to live with that for the rest of your lives! It's probably better this way because if that bitch was pregnant with your half breeds child I would rip it from them and kill it just like I did her mother!" He growled.
Kratos was not going to let that happen especially since he was planning on killing both of them. He had to win this fight if he was going to protect him the problem was if he could let him live or not.
"You sick bastard!" Mimir yelled.
"It's not like she will live that long anyway really. I'm just going to make her die quicker," he smiled.
That's when Kratos and Heimdall started to fight each other.
