"Come on fuck!" Hilda said as her powers quit working in a middle of a fight.
"Time to die, girly!" A man said as she rolled her eyes and quickly got out her axes, then cut off his head.
Hilda fell to her knees; her body felt weak for a moment as everyone was fighting to get the two prisoners free. Atreus saw a man behind her, ready to kill her, but he quickly got out an arrow and shot at him. The arrow hit the man in the head, killing him instantly.
"Hilda, get up!" Atreus said as she tried to, but her body was too weak.
"Hilda, what's wrong?" Atreus asked as he went to her.
"I think I'm dying," she said as Atreus tried to find a wound, but there wasn't one on her.
"I don't see anything," Atreus said as he looked at her eyes, and they were black.
"Oh no, what do you need me to do?" Atreus asked.
"I don't know where my powers went," she said as he touched her.
"You are burning up. What do you need me to do?" He asked.
"We are losing?" She asked as Atreus saw more men coming for them.
"It's okay; just tell me what you need," he said.
"I need to help them," she said softly as she looked at them.
"No, no, no, you aren't in any shape to do that. You need to tell me how I can hell you," Atreus said.
"Kiss me," she said.
"What? Here, now? You really must be out of it. I'll take you to my Father," he said as he tried to get her up, but she kissed him instead, making symbols appear on the both of them.
"Níðhögg," a faint voice whispered as time seemed to slow down.
The ground started shaking, and Freya looked down, confused, until gold dust came off her body and a little bit from everyone else in the area, including Heimdall.
Kratos killed his leaving him left to fight. Heimdall wasn't impressed, but when he heard a faint whisper and saw an image of the creature that gardened the tree, he was confused.
"I guess that little slut has some power left; the more she uses, the closer she comes to death. It would be a shame to let that poor half-breed find out. Especially since she can't control it; even if she doesn't use it, she will end up dead just like you," he said as they started fighting again.
The gold dust started swarming together, forming a version of Hilda's most trusted animal friend Níðhögg. Níðhögg began to go after the soldiers and kill them while Hilda moved Atreus aside and started to control the dust. Atreus was shocked she had the willpower to make her at all, let alone control her movements well enough like she was right there with them. Now Atreus didn't know what to think about her powers and why his being with her made it possible for her to do something like this.
Kratos had just pinned Heimdall into the wall with his spear, ming him able to kill him. But Kratos knew better and wasn't going to do it. He had to save Hilda from her fate, and killing him would make the prophecy accurate. Seeing Him like this was better than him dead. Even though he wanted to kill him, he wouldn't let his emotions get the best of him. This was going to be a teaching moment for him. Don't mess with his family, and you won't be beaten for it.
Heimdall had other plans and looked at him with anger.
"You are going to spare me out of pity?" He asked in anger.
"Let it go, and you may live," Kratos said as Heimdall chuckled.
"Is this about that half-breed and that slut he has been sleeping with? I will gut that runt and rip out that sluts beating heart!" He growled as he used his spear to make the one in Heimdall's arm explode.
Heimdall's arm was now gone, and Kratos watched him as he was on his knees in pain. All the voices were begging him to kill Heimdall, but he wanted to be better and prove that he could change.
"This is your final warning," Kratos said as he walked away.
"You don't get to walk away from this. You don't decide my fate!" He yelled as he used his magic to grow back his arm.
After another tough fight, Kratos lost it and killed Heimdall. He didn't want to, but he was angry, and anger got the best of him. He had let everyone down, and now he knew his fate. He was okay with it because at least Atreus had Hilda by his side, but for how long was now very uncertain. He wanted them to have a long, happy life, but her life was being drained from her body by magic controlled by an outside force.
Fate? Maybe something else, but now he had to try to help her the best he could, so perhaps she had a fighting chance. He started to make his way over to them, with Mimir entirely after yelling at him to stop punching Heimdall repeatedly. But his pleas fell silent to Kratos, who had lost it and sadly enjoyed killing him.
"Behind you!" Hilda yelled as she used an axe to kill a man.
"Nice shot, Hilda!" Atreus said as she smiled.
"Not so bad yourself!" She said
"We can't get through the door; Hilda used as much magic as she could earlier," Hildisvíni informed as Kratos nodded and would open the door for them once they cleared out some bad guys.
"Hi, Fraya!" Hilda yelled as she tried to choke out a kid guy, but Fraya quickly killed him with his magic.
"Show off!" She said as Hilda got out her sword.
"Found Freyr!" Hilda said as Kratos went over to him.
"I can make it," he said.
"You can not," Kratos informed.
"He looks like the time I went through a spider, given I wasn't bleeding, but you sure did look like shit. I'll cover you," Hilda said.
"You can not use your powers," Kratos said.
"I can, but differently; that will still probably hurt me later, but oh well, don't look a gift horse in the mouth, right?" She asked.
"What does that mean?" Kratos asked.
"No idea, my mother always said that," she informed as Kratos picked him up.
"Everyone follow!" Kratos yelled as he started running and defeating enemies as he went.
"Hi! I'm Atreus, and this is my girlfriend, Hilda! Are you okay?" Atreus asked as Hilda grabbed Atreus's hand, and her eyes started to glow gold.
"Wolves!" Atreus said as gold dust started forming into wolves.
Wolves started running ahead of them and behind them, killing enemies as everyone was trying to get to safety.
"Hi! No," Freyr said as they made it to the river.
"Where is the boat?" He asked as Freyr handed it to him.
"Throw it into the river," he said as Kratos did so.
"How did you do that?" Freya asked.
"I don't know, I think I am starting to get a handle on what's happening, but I'm not sure. I think I'm holding in nightmares, and Atreus is carrying my light powers. I'm not sure how or why, but I won't be able to get them from him much longer. The more power I use, the more nightmares I hold," she said as Atreus looked at her, shocked.
"Wait, so people's nightmares are killing you?" He asked.
"Yeah, I can't get rid of them either. I tried, but it's why we could feel each other's pain. It wasn't just me thinking about you; we were sharing powers. Once I lose connection with my light powers, I'm dead," she said.
"I won't let that happen, Atreus said.
"You might not even get that choice. I don't know what is making the connection. If I knew, I could tell you had to fix it, but I can't," she said as they got on the boat.
