Controling The Wolf (Ch21)

"You have been looking at that notebook a lot; she made it for you didn't she?" Angrboða asked.

"Yeah but you probably already knew that," he said as she sighed.

"You can't tell her anything about this," she informed.

"She already knows, I... I wanted to take her with me but she knew that my father would go looking for me," he informed.

"What are you thanking about?" She asked.

"I don't want her to be a monster, I know she's not one. I love her, being here makes me feel like I lost her," he explained.

"But you haven't not yet, you should cherish the time you have left with her," Angrboða informed.

"She never got a chance for anything, maybe she would be better off without me," Atreus said softly.

"Do you really think that? No matter what happens between you two you will still use her and get killed in the end. Sorry that was a bit harsh; here come here I need some help with this," she said as gave him some grain to hold once they got over to a table.

"What's this?" He asked as she smiled.

"Food, we are going to plant some seeds, collect some food and other things. This is what I do everyday but I want you to met someone first," she said as she called for seomeone.

A yak came from the water and started to walk over to him happily seeing him with food. The hairy yak quickly knocked the food out of his hands and started eating it making him smile. The yak had large horns and he couldn't see its eyes because they were covered with long hair. Atreus got out his note book to draw a basic outline for the yak since Hilda liked all the weird creatures in the realm but saw a note from Hilda.

"I don't know how much more time you have left before your father finds out. I love you," it read.

"Be back home soon, giant stuff not aloud to say sorry. You saved me earlier will try to be back as soon as I can. I love you to," he wrote and closed the book.

"Loki meet jalla," Angrboða informed with a smile.

"Hi jalla nice to meet you," Atreus said with a smile.

"She's a big girl," Atreus said after a couple of minutes of silence and Angrboða petting her.

Angrboða petted her some more then hoped on her making him smile. Atreus wondered what exactly they were going to be doing here and hoped that his mind would stop thinking about what was going to happen to his father and Hilda. Maybe he could stop it, he had to for Hilda at least. She deserved more and he wanted nothing more then for to be happy.

"Hop on!" Angrboða said as he hoped on with her help.

He got on and they started to walk in the river. The river wasn't that clear probably because of the plants and the water being still today. He could imagine Hilda pushing him into it and trying to steal a kiss or something to make sure Angrboða knew that he was hers. He actually felt guilty for spending time with her alone and now since he knew what happened when people were alone he really hoped that she wasn't going to try anything.

He asked about some plants and watched her get a fruit called a green bulb for the wolves to eat. Apparently her mother made her eat one everyday for strength and they tasted terrible to her. He saw what looked like a giant clam making him smile a bit.

"Hilda would love to have seen that clam, she's kind of odd and likes weird looking animals," Atreus said.

"You mean she is compassionate about creatures who don't get a lot of love. I can see why, not to be mean or anything but her life has been rough," she informed.

"Yeah, it's nice to see though. You should see the way she gets along with some of them. No matter how big or scary they look she some how finds a way to love them and they seem to love her back. After some stupid mistakes I have made I kind of wonder why she loves me," he said as Angrboða smiled.

"Because she made some to, not everyone is perfect. We can't let our past mistakes make us who we are," she said as he smiled.

"I think she told me that once to, can I tell her about some of the animals?" Atreus asked.

"I don't see why not but you can't let anyone know this place exists. It's the only thing keeping it safe from Odin and people who want to destroy it," Angrboða informed as Atreus picked a fruit from the tree.

Jalla made a noise which sounded like a cross between a fart and her stomach growling making him look at the yak in shock.

"Excuse me?" Atreus asked making Angrboða laugh.

"I think that means she likes you," Angrboða informed with a slight laugh.

"Sure?" He asked making him think she actually didn't like him at all.

"So those wolves, you take care of them?" He asked as she smiled.

"I do, they are actually good friends of mine," she explained.

"How much food do you need now?" Atreus asked.

"Are you in a hurry to leave?" Angrboða asked.

"No, I just have to apperently stop my hot girlfriend from turning into a scary monster and my father from dying. I think I may have read that thing wrong. What if I don't actually send her to kill him what if I send her away. My father doesn't know it's her and he ends up getting hurt by her and she dies? I also saw Thor in there to so maybe... I don't know I have to much on my mind," he informed.

"Loki we have time," she said trying to put his mind at ease.

"I know but all that stuff would never happen. I love Hilda, I would also never join Odin if it costs my fathers life or hers," he explained.

"If I learned anything from my mother, these things have a way of happing one way or another," she explained.

"I learned from my father to close your heart to it but I can't not for this. I couldn't do that either like I should have when Hilda got sick. I was just scared and I shouldn't have been either. If I was calmer maybe she would have gotten better faster," he explained.

"I don't think she would have " she said.

"I should have listened to him though, I see a fruit in that tree," he said as they climbed up to get to it and her yak made it easier to get to otherwise he wouldn't have been able to get to it at all.

"You know I may have thought about going to Asgard but I wouldn't do it. Especially now, my father wasn't helping find my destiny and Hilda can sees both sides and is trying to help me but making sure that if I do something stupid someone will be there for me. When me and Odin were alone he offered to teach me and I had a thought about it before I met Hilda," he explained.

"You were alone with Odin? He could have easily killed you," Angrboða informed.

"Not that easily," he said with a slight chuckle.

"So when do you know this fruit is ripe?" Atreus asked.

"It's a delicate guessing game," she replied.

"See you can't be sure of everything," he informed.

"I was taught by my parents when the fruit was ripe," she smiled.

"Gathering things, feeing your animals, seems like a lot for someone your age," he said.

"Our age you mean," she informed with a smile.

"Yeah right," he said.

"One of the last things that my father said to me was he was sorry he couldn't protect me; that I would have to grow up so fast," she informed as they went threw the river.

"At least you got an apology," Atreus informed.

"Maybe Odin needs you for something and that's why he asked you to go with him," Angrboða informed.

"Or maybe it's not what it looks like and I am tricking Odin," Atreus speculated.

"Are you good at tricking people?" She asked.

"I lied to my dad a couple of times," he said getting of her yak.

"Huh, master of deception I see," she said.

"Hilda helped a little, I didn't think she would. She hates it when people lie to her but I don't blame her. She doesn't trust people much, I'm glad she's on my side though," he informed.

"Here, can you pick up that bucket please?" She asked as he picked it up.

"Sure, what do we need know?" He asked.

"Now we need some roots, unless you want to leave," she said as Atreus thought for a moment.

"No its fine, I can stay longer. I want to stay to help you a bit more before I go back home. I don't normally get to help Hilda out much with her stuff. She uses a forge , does pottery, and hunts, does fishing, a lot of stuff but we haven't had time to do much besides pottery. It's her favorite thing to do," he explained.

"So what do you do?" She asked.

"I draw, monsters and things like that even people we encounter on our journeys. Wait, I can actually show you a picture of Hilda. I kind of drew her when she was upset though," he said as he took out his note book and flipped threw the pages until he came to the one he drew.

He showed her the picture and she smiled at it. Hilda didn't look to upset she actually looked pretty and he could see why he liked her. She didn't look to threatening but she was dangerous. She looked like a person that would in fact throw an axe at your head if you said something she didn't like.

"She's pretty, I would be careful with her. She looks like she wants to kill you," she smiled.

"She told me she had boots perfect for throwing at me and she wasn't wrong they were kind if heavy," he laughed.

"Wow, sounds like a keeper, there are roots up ahead, I'llget this one. There is another up the path just give it a twist you shouldn't need your knife," she smiled.

They got off of Jalla and and started to collect the roots. Once they were don't the the roots in the area there were in they quickly went back to Jalla to get more somewhere else.

"Is there an animal that you have could maybe move a little faster, no offense," Atreus apologized.

"Yes there is but they can't carry us both, this is much faster trust me," Angrboða informed.

"I don't think Jalla likes me," Atreus said as they started to cross a log.

"She does its just the only other person she has spent time with is my-" she paused as people started to attack the brige making them fall of of Jalla.

"Loki quick show me the wolf!" Angrboða yelled as he quickly turned into the wolf and started to attack the creatures that attacked them.

He turned back and started firing off his arrows while Angrboða started fighting along side him. He wished Hilda was here, Hilda's spiders were cool to see and he wanted to see what else she could do. If Hilda could control her dreams maybe she could turn Níðhögg into a dream. That would be awsome but for right now he had to do this with out her.

"Are you okay?" Angrboða asked.

"Yeah, it just feels weird when I change. Like I'm not in control but I have to learn to be in control. I font want to turn into a wolf when I'm with my girlfriend. I know she can handle herself but I would rather not hurt her," he informed and Angrboða found some more roots.

"Things take time to learn but you will learn soon enough. I found some more roots it wasn't a total loss," she smiled as Atreus started to help her.

"I hope so," he said.

"What do you feel when you change?" She asked.

"Just anger," he sighed.

"People fight with all sorts of emotions in there heart not just anger. You need to find things other then anger to focuse on when you want to change. Take Hilda for example. If something bad happened to her you would want to protect her right? Use a little bit of anger to turn but focuse on an emotion that will help you stay you. Otherwise you may hurt Hilda," she explained.

"Looks like we are home again," Atreus informed.

"Yeah, so you know that bucket you moved we need to put the roots in that bucket," she informed.

"Okay," he said.

"After this, there is one more thing I want to show you, we should head by the water," she said.

"Okay, I should bring Hilda here next time if I get thr chance to come back here. Hilda is really good at fixing things as well as the dwarfs," he informed.

"Maybe a lot of stuff does need fixing around here. You ready to go?" She asked as she got onto Jalla.

"Yeah, let's go. Wait where are we going?" He asked.

"I'll show you. So what's the soul that's in your knife?" She asked.

"There is a soul in my knife?!" He asked.

"Yeah there is, you didn't know?" She asked.

"No! Can you tell me who's soul it is?" He asked.

"Maybe you should keep it where it is until you figure it out," she said.

"How did..?" He paused.

"I don't go around stealing people's souls I hope you know that," he informed.

"You will figure it out trust me, now let's hurry," she said as Atreus was now extremely worried.

Who's soul did he steal and how did he do it?
