Chapter two
The sun hit against my closed eyelids, making it go from dark to now seeing my eye. My right eye closed, not having a bit of sunlight.
I turned around, the sun now hitting my back. I touched the left side of my face, it was definitely hotter than my right side.
I opened my eyes, blinking and thinking if I should get up or not. But then after fighting with myself, I decided too.
The house was quiet, too quiet. It's almost like nobody else was here. The house was bright because of the Sun but it was lonely too.
I turned around to where my younger brother was sleeping, and it looked like he was still asleep. Ignoring the sun hitting his face. He looked really peaceful. I got sad that I had to wake him up from his dreams but I'm sure he's hungry after running around. I know I am, my stomach started making noises.
I slowly got up, not wanting to get up from my spot. It was really comfortable. And it'll take a while for me to find another comfortable spot like this for a huge while.
Not wanting to wake up my brother immediately, I tried not to make a sound. He wakes up easily, any sound can wake him up. If you step on the creaky floor, then he'll be up and not be able to sleep again.
I decided to make eggs for us, something easy to digest. And plus, you can pair it with anything.
After I ate some, I got up from my chair and decided to wake up my brother. I didn't want him to eat cold eggs but also not to the point where he'll burn his tongue off.
"Hey..." I whispered. "Come on, you need to eat. I made eggs and there's waffles if you don't want any."
I got closer and closer to where he was sleeping. "The food will get cold if you don't hurry up and eat it. Actually, Spider-Man will be really disappointed if you don't." He should wake up at that, any mention of how your favorite character will be disappointed if you don't eat should make you want to do it so you won't. Well... it would've worked with toddlers, not much with children and teenagers.
I pulled the blanket and I yelled. He wasn't there. He wasn't asleep. It was empty under the blanket. The only thing there was the pillow, and it seemed it was pushed down, indicating that he did fall asleep and for a huge while.
When did he leave? How come I didn't hear him?
"Buddy!" I yelled, I was running around the house. Opening any door that was closed. Moving around anything that I could and making sure that any hiding spot wasn't so hidden.
Then I went outside and looked everywhere. Going out in the backyard, making sure I didn't miss anything. When I didn't find anything, I went inside again and double checked.
I stopped. "Buddy!" Tears started to appear, then hitting my cheek. "Where are you?!"
It was 12 in the afternoon, the coldness starting to appear. Where could he be?
I ran around the house, looking again and again. Seeing if I possibly could have missed a spot. Maybe he's hide and seek with me and decided not to tell me? He's an excellent player, he's probably laughing at me right now because I'm not finding him.
After what seemed forever, I couldn't find him. And so, I sat down on the couch and I started to cry, the hardest that I have ever cried.
He's lost and I'm a terrible sister for not being able to protect him. For not being able to keep my promise to my parents.
