°•°Chapter 20°•°
"For the two of us, home isn't a place. It is a person. And we are finally home."― Stephanie Perkins.
Irene's POV.
"Wow," I look amazed at all the pictures Reese hung up on the walls of his condo. He did series which would get amazing recognition but he never got a chance to showcase his talent.
"So..." I feel Reese's arms snake around my waist, "What do you think?" he places a soft kiss on my cheek with my back still against his chest.
A smile makes its way to my face, "It's amazing! You should showcase this work," I say tracing my fingers over the photo of a lady carrying her kid who's probably blind and making him feel the incarnations of the stone with both of them smiling. The mother with the happiness she feels looking at her kid and the kid amazed by the incarnations.
"Well I'm working on getting my work recognized but until then, let's spend some quality time with each other," he says kissing my hand as he takes it into his. Lucky for us, Ty wanted to stay at his girlfriend's place for the day so we could spend some uninterrupted time, in Reese's words exactly.
Turning around in his arms, I face Reese and kiss him gently which he immediately responds to before pulling me into a hug. Today was exhausting for both of us, both emotionally and physically. He had to talk to Ray who finally understood the situation but was still skeptical about me which I understand, he's just looking out for Reese.
Then Reese had to calm me down from my break down, which was bad and Ty had to cheer us up from there on to get through the whole journey. Once in L.A., we had to meet Rob to collect the restraining order to officially send the warning to Alex. To be honest, neither Reese or I are convinced that the restraining order will stop Alex but we can just hope it works.
After a long hug enough to comfort both our thoughts Reese speaks up, "I love you,"
"I love you too," he gives me a quick kiss before stepping back, "Well, I've got some boxed mac and cheese quickly cooking in the oven,"
Grabbing me by my hand, he drags me into the small yet perfect kitchen. We managed to clean the condo up in half an hour which was pretty damn quick, "Well here you go," he hands me a tray with two ramekins of mac and cheese with a grin. Damn does he look good shirtless with messy hair and his heartwarming smile.
I walk up to the couch and place the tray on the coffee table before grabbing the water bottle to quench my thirst. It's a small condo with one room, kitchen, and washroom of course but just perfect and cozy. A place one could call home.
Reese takes a seat next to me before handing me a glass of wine, "Wine?"
"Thought we could both use some," he says kissing my cheek and then taking a sip of the wine. He's right we both needed this and it's luckily Saturday night so Reese doesn't have much work tomorrow nor can I step out to look for work anytime soon cause well we still aren't sure if Alex got the news about the restraining order which would probably make him come back hunting me down with twice more determination.
Handing me one of the mac and cheese ramekins, Reese breaks me from my chain of thoughts before giving me a smirk looking at the glass in my hand which is now empty, "You do realize it's only been like two minutes since I handed you that glass right?"
He winks at me before going bottoms up with his glass of wine, "Wouldn't want to leave you alone on that," he says making me giggle before pecking my lips. Guess we're both going to get drunk tonight.
"Let's just eat first before the mac and cheese starts tasting bland than it already is," he says making me shake my head smiling before diving into the food. Just these moments with him are more than enough to make me happy and I'm probably the happiest I've been in all my life. When I was with Alex, I thought I was happy though I didn't ever smile genuinely around him because I didn't have a true definition of happiness.
But the way Reese makes me feel has no comparison with how I felt ever before in life, he makes me feel butterflies and I smile around him without even noticing. Even though a lot is going on, he manages to make time for both of us to spend together, or do I say he just somehow magically makes time whenever I need him. I'm probably the worst girlfriend but he makes me feel quite the opposite.
Putting my now empty bowl aside, I look at Reese who's engrossed into another episode of Sherlock though we probably watched this show once already while we were crashing in his car well the shows good, can't complain. I lean towards him and kiss his cheek making him turn to face me with a smile before grabbing me by my waist, "Want some more wine?"
I ask him pulling away to stand up, "Yup," he says standing up behind me as I pick up the bowls and glasses before heading to the kitchen. I could feel Reese stare making me blush as I walk away. Placing the bowls in the basin, I get back to the counter to pour in some more wine for both of us.
I give Reese a surprised look as I notice the couch now transformed into a bed with a comforter and pillow along with the coffee table pushed aside to make space. Damn, I love this.
"That makes me want to just stay in bed all day with you," I say with a grin as I hand his glass of wine over to him to which he clinks our glasses together.
"To our endless adventures,"
"To our endless adventures, it is," I second him before we both took sips of our drinks. Taking my glass, he places both our glasses on the side table before pulling me into his arms, "Do you even know how good it feels to share this condo to you? It finally feels like home."
Tears brim my eyes as happiness bubbles in me, "Home," I just choke out finally as the feeling settles down in my heart. I haven't felt at home anywhere since mom died, not even around my dad.
Picking me up with his hands under my butt, he kisses me, "Our home," he says between kisses as his lips trace my jaw. Just about a month since I met his, yet all I feel is love for him. He's both my weakness and strength now but mostly my strength.

Fresh cool air hits my skin as I jog back to the apartment with Reese, "We should do this every day," I say slightly breathless as Reese nods with a smile.
It's still just 6 am which is why it is still slightly dark. We ended up waking up early since we fell asleep at 11 pm last night. This feels so normal to go on a morning run with Reese but he's still cautiously keeping an eye on our surroundings because Alex could be having people on the watch around the apartment.
Once we reach the apartment, his arm is securely again wrapped around my waist as we walk in. Its an old building but still classical and maintained neatly.
We take the stairs since Reese's condo is only on the first floor, "Stop getting that pretty head of yours all worked up," he says pushing me forward towards the door of our condo with his hands on my shoulders, massaging them slightly making me smile.
Unlocking the door, I walk in first taking off the hoodie, and Reese follows once he made sure the door was locked properly. "Coffee?" he asks me as he takes his on hoodie off hanging it on the coat hanger along with mine.
"Yes please," I say as he leans down to kiss me which I respond to immediately with a smile while wrapping my arms around his neck. Feeling his body against mine, the warmth seeps through making me feel the blissful love we share.
Pulling back from him, I walk to the washroom to have a shower. Damn my stupid period, the cramps that tag along, and need I mention my stupid mood swings. Taking off my clothes, I dump them in the laundry basket and walk into the shower cubicle.
The hot water streaming down my body makes my muscles relax, hot water showers are the best, can't deny that. Scrubbing my body and then shampooing my hair, I just spend a few more minutes under the shower before walking out. Putting on the bathrobe and a towel for my hair, I walk out into the small dry area of the washroom.
Grabbing my clean clothes out which one is Reese's t-shirt, I put them on before stepping out. I look at Reese who's grabbing my heat bag and coffee before placing it on the side table next to the bed which is now back to being a couch. Well, that's my guy who's doing wonderful things for me. What did I do to deserve this? Nothing.
Walking up to the couch, I sit down next to him before grabbing both the mug of coffee and the heat bag before settling back into Reese's comfortable embrace. I kiss his cheek breaking his chain of thoughts as he looks at me with a smile, "Love you,"
"Love you more," I reply making him smile though we both know, there's no measure to how much we love each other. Both of us just equals here.
Is this is what home feels like, I don't want to change any single thing. Just Reese, me, and this little condo.
