Chapter 5: A Sight For Sore Eyes
(If you see any writing errors comment "KILL IT WITH FIRE.")
Lucy's POV
I couldn't believe it. The people I've been longing to see were following me.
I hadn't turned around to see their faces, but I knew they were there. It was all too familiar to say it wasn't them. The clanking of Erza's armor as she walked behind me, Gajeels loud stomping, The annoying droning of Happy and Carla's wings. It had to be them.
We had turned a couple of corners and walked down alleyways before we came to abrupt stop. The library was just a few feet ahead of us.
"This is it." I mumbled. The group looked ahead towards the library.
"We came all this way to organize this library?" It was old and left in shambles. The stones were ravaged and falling out.
"I guess so," I spoke. You could hear groaning as the group walked in. But I still felt the presence of a certain re-quip Mage. I stood there deciding what I should do. Should I leave? Should I stay?
Step by step I forced myself to move. I slowly made my way back to my home. I pulled my hoodie over to mask my face so she couldn't see who I was. I stared at the ground watching my feet as they moved through the dirt road. I noticed Erza's gleaming armor as I passed by. I didn't acknowledge her as I forced my way past her.
"Lucy." I stopped in my tracks. I didn't reply. I didn't want to reply. I stood in silence waiting for her reaction.
"Good luck." Her voice echoed in my head. Reappearing in my brain over and over. I could hear her begin to move towards the library, leaving me alone.
"Wait!" I blurted out. I spun around facing her. Erza abruptly turned around, her face was masked with shock. She smiled as I pulled down my hood and ran up to her. She welcomed me in with open arms and I hugged her tightly, Erza hugging me back. I didn't care if anyone saw me right now. I didn't care if Natsu saw me. I rested my head on her shoulder as I erupted into joyful tears as I held onto her. Erza placed her head on top of mine as she held me closely.
"Erza! Hurr-" Grays voice stopped mid sentence. He stared in utter confusion at the sight. Erza hushed him without even moving a muscle.
I could see him from the corner of my eye. He was actually wearing clothes for once.
"I-It was you?!" He inquired. I nodded my head through sobs as Erza ran her fingers through my hair in an attempt to sooth me.
"Hey guys!" Gray yells. I flinch and let go of Erza. She looked back at me with pure sorrow.
"I have to go. Don't mention anything about me. I beg of you." I pull my hoodie up before waving goodbyes to Erza and Gray. I run away before anyone else figured me out. My cloak swayed behind me as I ran.
"What is it Gray?" I hear Wendy ask.
"N-....Nothing."
I wipe the tears away from my blood shot eyes and decide not to make an appearance at work that day. It was all to much to process.
I felt like I should have been sad. I felt like I should have been completely depressed! But for some reason, I wasn't. A smile was plastered on my face and I was happy. Happy for once in a long time.
I slam the door open to my cabin and threw my coat on the hook without noticing who was standing in my kitchen.
"Hello Princess, back so soon?" I screech at the voice but was immediately subsided wen I see Virgo by the stove mixing a substance in a pot.
"Yes Virgo. Thank you for cooking."
"Anytime Princess." I slouched down and slid down the wall, not even wanting to touch my shoes.
"What would I do without you..?" I mumbled. Sighing, I place my head in my hands.
"Hey Virgo?"
"Yes Princess?" Virgo inquired.
"What are you making tonight?"
"Tomato soup Princess. Is that alright?"
"Yes, thank you." I thanked her and continued to sulk in my arms.
"Sometimes I wonder if my mom could see me right now...." A sigh escaped my lips. "What would she think of me now..." Virgo stopped stirring and looked down at her soup as it swirled around the spoon.
"Well. I think you're pretty great, Princess." She continued to stir the pot not acknowledging the effect she had on me. Her words brought a smile to my face. My despair left with a single and final tear drop. I got up hugged her from behind. She flinched but continued stirring.
"Thank you Virgo." She stayed silent ignoring the drowsy blonde on her arms. I let go of her and sat down at the island. Virgo began rummaging through the cabinets soon to be coming across a bowl. She pulled one out and placed it down on the counter; without it making a sound. She picked up the scorching pan with her bare hands and poured some soup into the bowl. Virgo then turned around and gave me the bowl of soup with her typical poker face.
"Here you go Princess." She sang. She turned around and began cleaning the mess she had made. She picked up some spare tomatoes and cleaned off the knife she used to chop them up. She then placed the cutting board in the sink and began cleaning off the counter with a rag.
"Virgo?"
"Yes Princess?"
"Why don't you sit down and finish some soup with me?" Virgo stopped in her tracks and turned around to face Lucy; rag in hand.
"Really Princess? Celestial spirits don't need food, I will only waste it."
"It doesn't matter. I'll get you a bowl." She looked at me with a flustered expression.
"But Pri-"
"It's O.K. You can just sit down." I concluded. Virgo hesitantly walked over to the chair and sat down. She twiddled with her thumbs as I grabbed her a bowl and filled it with soup. I slid it across the table so it landed in front of her. She stared down at it like it was some foreign species.
"Go ahead Virgo." She looked up at me with a compassionate look, and I responded with a smile.
"Thank you Princess."
