Lucy's POV
It's been a couple of months since I've last seen the guild. They're probably still as rambunctious as ever.
I had finally been able to get a place with a small rent, but I still needed the cash for it. Luckily, Levy would come down here on jobs and help me out. Of course I would help her with them. They didn't take much effort, but it was enough to leave me breathless.
Levy hadn't been here in awhile, and I'm sure she would be showing up sometime soon. Hopefully.
She already mentioned her slipping up a couple of times, and I couldn't get mad because I was putting such a difficult situation in her hands. I would probably fail with that much responsibility.
I was living north of Hargeon; the closest I could be to Magnolia without being suspected. I've been working a side job as a waitress and it has a pretty decent pay. Yet, I still want to go back to the guild. It takes all my willpower to keep myself from going back.
However, I dread the day I have to go back to them. That will be the day I'll have to explain, and the day I'll have to confront everyone.
Back at the guild...
Levys POV .
"Levy?" I looked up find the source of the voice. Only to find a white-haired mage looking back at me.
"Oh, Hey Mira!" I spoke, looking up from my book.
"Looks like you've been so intrigued to that story that you forgot the check the time," She implied with a soothing grin.
"Why? What time is it?"
"It's almost time for the guild to close."
"Really!?" I declared. Sure enough, the sky was dark and the stars were out. She giggled at my sudden outburst.
"Yeah!" She replied. I slammed my book shut and headed towards the door.
"Wait Levy! You can stay, I'll whip you up a milkshake. On the house."
"S-Sure," I turned back around and sat back down at the bar.
Mira smiled and continued to work. I placed my book in my bag and zipped it up. The guild was peculiarly quiet. No one was at the guild anymore, they had all left to live their separate lives.
"Levy?" Mira interrupted the silence with her voice. She still faced the wall working on the shake.
"Yes?" I asked questionably. Mira sighed before continuing,
"Have you heard from Lucy?" She finally whispered.
"I-I haven't," I lied. Mira flinched at my words.
"I'm... I'm starting to really worry about her. It's been exactly three months since we've seen her, and we haven't heard anything. Not even a postcard!" I could hear the sadness and despair in her voice.
"I-I understand what you mean. But I'm positive she's alright. It's Lucy, she's strong," Mira tensed up, almost shocked.
"Of all people I thought you would be the most worried," She looked down at her toes, using her hair to shield her eyes. I shuddered at her sudden change of expression.
"M-Mira! I'm sure she's fine, she's probably sitting on a beach staring off into the sunset!" Well at least I wasn't lying, I wasn't sure myself. Mira sniffles and wiped away her tears before giving me her familiar smile.
"You're right. It was so dumb of me to think of her that way... Anyways. Here's your milkshake." She handed me a cup and smiled before walking to the back of the bar. You could hear her heels clanking as they went through the doorway, before they were too faint to hear.
Boy did I hate lying, I really wanted to make it up to her badly, but I couldn't tell her the truth. I sighed and left some jewels on the counter before getting up and leaving the guild.
The day after...
I used my hip to open the door as I adjusted my headband. It was yet another day at my beloved guild. I didn't acknowledge the glares I was receiving from the guild members as I walked to the request board. There was hardly any jobs in Hargeon, but I grabbed the one that took the least amount of time and effort.
"Hey Shrimp," Gajeel interrupted my thoughts as I looked at the flyer.
"Oh! Hey! Didn't see you coming," I say.
"Heh, so did you find a job request?" He ask. There was something up with him. He was actually putting an effort into starting a conversation with me.
"I did. Are you wanting to join?" I mentally slapped myself. Seriously Levy? Aren't you supposed to be steering the guild away from Lucy?
"Absolutely," He implored.
"Well aren't you awfully positive today?"
"Heh, I guess so." Gajeel muttered.
I slid towards the bar and handed Mira the flier and she took it with a smile.
"Oh! Yet another one to Hargeon? Do you just like that place or what?" She inquired.
"Yeah, I guess so." From the corner of my eye, I could see Erza perk up in the distance. She tapped Grays shoulder and motioned behind her, where I was standing just a few feet away.
"Ok. Well, I'll see you in a couple of days!" She concluded as she stamped the paper.
We headed towards the guild door and pushed it open, but soon to be interrupted by a sudden voice.
"Hey! Care if we come?" I turned around to see Team Natsu behind me. Well, Team Natsu minus Lucy.
"Uuh, sure! Gajeel and I are only going to organize a Library." Gajeel groaned at the word 'library.' I doubt he's even been to one.
"It'll still take a lot of effort won't it?" I sighed realizing what was up.
They're on to me, aren't they?
