Birthday Wishes

Madison shivered as the warm blood trickled down her face. She clenched her hand as the pain became worse and worse. Her head pounded and her stomach was throbbing. Her blood-covered eyes opened slowly as tears formed from the bright sunlight. She looked up at the handsome, young Luke who was holding her in his arms. His slik brown hair covered his forehead and the tips of his eyes. She smiled a half smile and closed her eyes. She was in love. With God and with Luke. Even though so many bad things were happening, Madison was able to see the good coming out of it. But, she had to remind herself that it is not yet the end of the journey.

An hour later, Madison woke up to the smell of freshly baked soup. She opened her eyes and saw Luke sitting by a fire with an animal in his hands.

"Afternoon sleepyhead." He said, smirking.

"Afternoon." Madison said in a quiet voice, "I had a weird dream. I was in Heaven and Sarah was there too. But, she was an angel. Isn't that weird?"

Luke took a deep breath and sighed, "No, not really. It's pretty easy to believe."

Madison placed a confused look on her face and shrugged. Who knows what he was talking about.

"Do you remember what happened to you?" Luke said, placing her hand in his.

"Not really. I just remember feeling alot of pain in my stomach and seeing a figure. After that, I felt a huge load of pressure on my head and then I passed out."

"I'm not sure what happened but I washed the blood off of you and it looks like you got shot in the stomach and hit with some large object on the head."

Madison gasped and started shaking, "Oh, Luke! Will I be okay?"

He sqeezed her hand tighter and grinned, "With God, all things are possible, my dear. Happy birthday."

Madison smiled and giggled, "It's my birthday!" She slowly sat up and was amazed. Her stomach pain was gone and her headache faded away. "Oh Luke, it's a miracle. I've been healed."

Luke said a silent prayer thanking God for everything He did as he handed Madison cooked rabbit. She ate it faster than a hungry lion, leaving none to spare.

"Don't worry Luke, I left you some." She giggled as she handed the worn-out boy the other half of the rabbit. Luke took his time eating while Madison took a nap. It was a beautiful day and reminded Luke of God's glory. He soon finished his meal and laid down for a nap.

-2 hours later-
Luke shivered and woke up. He assumed it was probably around 5:30 in the evening by the way the sun was positioned. He got his bow and arrow and sprinted off to find some prey. It only took him about fifteen minutes until he spotted the rabbit. He took his aim, shot, and ran to collect his dinner. Suddenly, noises started coming from behind him. He spun around and saw a beautiful German shepherd. The poor dog whimpered and huddled next to Luke. Luke felt bad for the dog and decided to take him back to camp. When he arrived, Madison had already started the fire.

"Happy birthday." He said smiling, "I got you something."

Madison turned her head faster than lightning and let out a loud scream, "Caspian!"

The dog bolted to Madison, barking with excitement. He ran in circles around her and placed his paws on her shoulders.

"You know him?" Luke said, confused.

"Oh Luke, this was my dog. He's been my best buddy for so long. How did you find him? How did he find us?" Madison beamed with excitement and Luke laughed. "This is the best birthday ever! I love you, Luke!"
