It had been three days now with no response from Madison. Luke was starting to get really worried and he started doubting whether she was really still alive or not. The doctor had come to checkup on her, but only once because it was a long journey for him to travel from where he was to where they were.

"Come'on Madi." Luke said, sqeezing her hand, "Wake up, wake up.."

No reponse. Luke looked out the window. Grey clouds covered the horizon as the sun faded away. Another day, come and gone and still no response from Madi. Luke sighed and strolled leisurely into the kitchen. Elizabeth and Noah were sitting at the kitchen table reading their Bibles.

"Nothing." Luke said sorrowfully.

"Trust the Lord, son." said Noah, patting the boys arm.

"It's been three days already. Don't you think he would've healed her by now?"

"The Lord works in His timing my child. Trust Him." Elizabeth nodded as she slowly got up from her seat. "I'm going to go get your bed ready. There's meat on the counter, you can go ahead and eat some of that."

"Thank you." Luke said as he grabbed a plate and placed a handful of meat on it.

- The Next Morning -
Luke rolled over onto his back. He didn't sleep very well, only tossing around hour after hour. He sighed, sat up, and walked to the living room like a zombie. He sat on the couch and looked at the sleeping beauty. Madison looked so peaceful in her sleep. He placed his hand on her forehead and started praying for her.

"Lord, I beg you, please let her wake up. I'm starting to doubt you and all your promises. Please help me be brave and.."

"Who are you talking to?"

Luke jumped as the sound of Madison's voice filled the air. He sat, looking at her in shock.

"What did I do?" Madison questioned, looking at Luke.

"Noth..nothing. You just..woke up!" He said, jumping up and running away.

Madison shrugged and giggled. Luke was always so funny and random. She knew a boy like that when she was younger. In fact, his name was Luke as well.

"What a coincidence." She said, rolling her eyes.

Luke stumbled over debris on the floor and ran into Noah and Elizabeth's bedroom.

"She's awake! She's alive!" He said, shaking Noah. The poor old man shook and sat up.

"Are you okay boy?"

"Yes! It's Madison, she's awake!"

"Praise God!" The man grabbed his cane and crouched his back as his limped over to the couch. The moon shimmered and Madison's eyes glowed as the light reflected off of them. Noah leaned over and stared into her eyes. Madison held her breath and let out a loud shrill.

"Luke! Luke! Who is he? Are we safe?" She trembled as Luke held her arm.

"It's okay. We're safe. Just go to sleep and I tell you in the morning."

The girl turned on her side as she shivered. Luke placed a blanket over her body and turned to the man.

"I'm sorry to bother you. I should have let you slept. I was just excited."

"No problem, son. It's probably time to get up anyways. I need to start delivering food to our neighbors."

Luke moaned. Was it morning already?

"Want to join me?" Noah said, patting the boys back.

"Why not? I would love to meet more people."

"Oh you're going to love them!" The man said, handing Luke a jacket. "I can not wait to see how God changes your life today."
