"Forgive me for asking, but.. who are you?" Asked Melody as she was confused. Who was this man? The minute she walked into the auditorium landing, the same voice of the man whom she had hugged was heard. "I am your real father... I am.. the phantom of the auditorium! Come to me, my sweet Melody." He said as the girl froze in shock. The phantom was her real father?! Shaking her head to get rid of the shock, she went into the dining hallway. She then noticed half of a broken crest in a statue's hand and grabbed it, placing it inside her mini bag she had found to carry items.
Going inside the dining salon, the jewel-eyed girl noticed a black horse chess piece on the broken table and put it inside. Walking towards a small statue, she moved it and noticed an urn with the image of a paintbrush. Picking it up, she walked to the roaring fireplace and placed it on the mantle. Melody noticed it seemed to be a mechanism for something.. bending at the waist, she noticed a red rose fading into green with blue tips at the ends that was behind glass. It was the first rose! She let out a happy squeal of delight as she smiled, bouncing in her spot.
"Your excitement is very cute, daughter.. like your mother, Iris." The phantom whispered in her ear as her muscles relaxed. Melody went to the table and began looking around it, finding another urn, this time with an image of a mortar and pestle. Going to the mantle once more, she placed it right beside the paintbrush urn. "Alright.. two down, three to go." She said to herself as she left the salon and went to the manager's hallway. Something shining caught her eye and she walked over, grabbing the third urn. Walking to the manager's office, she noticed some kind of locking mechanism.
Taking the top left peg, she moved it. She repeated the action on the remaining pegs and moved the disk, unlocking the door and going inside. There, she heard the phantom's voice again, this time.. he sounded angry. "The managers were fools! They thought they could disobey me and Iris. We showed them just how real our cruelty could be, sweetheart." Explained her father as Melody sighed playfully. "Of course, you both would do something like that." She said, picked up the empty bottle of absinthe and putting it inside her bag.
She noticed a chessboard and placed the black knight she found in the salon and placed it on the top right square. Going to the desk, she saw an elephant shaped lamp and took off the lampshade. After she left the office, she went to the art rotunda. Kneeling onto the ground, she moved a fallen painting aside and picked up a piece of paper, placing it in her bag. She walked to the clock and noticed the time was frozen. Going back to the office, she went to the cuckoo clock and proceeded to move the hands to 9:30. The bird produced a key and she placed it inside.
Going back to the art rotunda, she unlocked the large door in the center and turned the handle. She noticed that she was now in a library and smiled. The candle was fully melted, revealing a black horse chess piece and she grabbed it, placing it inside her bag. When she walked towards the center bookshelf, she saw that there was some missing books. Going to the shelf that was beside the center one, she carefully began to rummage through the mess. Her fingers touched a book spine and she grabbed it, realizing it was one of the missing books!
Going to the bookshelf, she placed the missing book back in and knew that she had to find the fourth missing book. She noticed a canopic jar, the kind ancient Egyptians had. Leaving the library, she found the conservatory hallway. As she made her way to the conservatory, many questions bloomed in her mind. She shook them off and grabbed a sandbag. Melody reached the conservatory and noticed a bucket. As she found the door, she placed the crest fragment on the door and realized she had to get the second half of the crest.
She left the conservatory and went to the auditorium landing. Going to the ballroom hallway, she grabbed the sandbag and poured the sand onto the icy floor. Picking up another urn, she placed it inside her bag. Finding the powder room, she noticed a large puddle of electrified water? Leaving the room, she went to the ballroom and froze in her tracks. In the room, there were four puppets. The first one looked to be Iris, the dancer as she was dressed in a beautiful white wedding gown with accents of red and blue.
The second one was Esmeralda, dressed in a similar dress but with accents of green and red. The third one was of the phantom wearing a suit decorated with blue sapphire buttons and a emerald green tie. And finally, the fourth one was of Melody, dressed in a princess gown, complete with a crown and her locket.. they were all embracing one another in a family hug.. the golden bronze haired girl stifled a cry, her body shivering. She ran away from the scene as she went to the salon and placed the urns on the mantle.
The third urn had the image of a pistol and the fourth urn had the image of angel wings. She now had one last urn to find. Going to the manager's office once more, she placed the horse piece and placed on the top left square. Rummaging through her bag, she found the light bulb and placed it on the elephant lamp. Going through the mess, she found the second piece of the crest! Putting it inside her bag, she went to the conservatory and went through the same mess, finding a mop. Taking out the fragment, she joined it with the first crest and the door swung open!
She sighed, feeling the coolness of a summer breeze lightly teasing her hair. "Ok, now to make the glowing drink." Breaking off a branch, she put it inside her bag. Turning her head to the left, she read the tombstones and found that they had the same images as the urns! Climbing up the hill, she found a cottage and took a thermometer. She tied the bucket to the well's rope and went inside the cottage. Finding the screwdriver and the fourth missing book, she placed them inside. Leaving the cottage, she lifted the loose tile up, finding a worm.
Taking the worm and tile, she went through the mess again and found gardening shears. Smiling at her find, she went to the conservatory hallway and grabbed the bucket of cold water, throwing it onto the plant. It bloomed and she recognized the star shaped buds. "These are star anise buds!" She said, taking out the shears and cutting some from the plant, putting it inside of her bag. Going to the library, she places the final missing book inside the shelf. Moving the books in a order, they moved and allowed her to get the missing bottle of absinthe and angel spirits, having them join the rest of the ingredients.
Making her way to the cottage, she placed the thermometer inside the pot and began to add the ingredients. Pour in a bottle of angel spirits.. add a worm.. add the twig she found.. then add the star anise buds. Carefully moving them around so the mixture turned green, she watched as the brown buds bloomed into light green ones, the scent reaching into her nostrils. Taking out the first bottle she found, she placed the freshly made absinthe into it and into another bottle. Leaving the cottage, she went to the manager's office and placed the glowing bottle into the statue's hands, hearing the advertisement fall to the ground.
She began to tap the tiles on the safe to pop it open while her other hand went to the handle. When she turned the handle, she grabbed the final urn and smiled. Now to get that rose! Going to the mantle, she placed the final urn which had the image of a seedling with the roots. She began to move the urns to the owners' exact death dates and when she finished, the glass moved aside. Dipping her hands into the crevice, she grabbed the rose and held it up to examine it. It was beautiful if not rare.
The petals were a shade of ruby red fading into emerald green with sapphire blue tips at the ends. It smelled very sweet.. almost like Manuka honey.. "what kinds of feelings conjured a rose this beautiful?" She asked, hearing the phantom's chuckle. "Perhaps the feelings I have for your mothers and being the father of a princess." He told her, as she smiled and went to the powder room. Getting the mop, she began mopping the floor of the powder room and cleaned it up. Once she was finished, the phantom appeared before her.
"I was worried about you, sweetheart. Did you bring me the rose I asked of you?" Melody did a sweet giggle and happily gave him the flower. He broke the glass and plucked the rose from her hands gently, taking her hand, gazing into Iris's viridian orbs. "This is only the first step, dear. Let me show you how it all began." He told his daughter as he showed her what happened.
(Flashback!)
"The both of you need to pay my lover's salary that he reminded you of day after day!" Iris warned, her eyes glowing red and her face ruined by a frown. She was angered and the managers were frightened of her when the phantom entered. "Darling, what's going on?" He asked with a confused tilt of his head. She sighed before turning to him. "Sorry, my love. These incompetent idiots keep 'forgetting' to pay your salary and I am trying to convince them." She explained, clearly at her wits end with them.
The phantom joined her at her side and glared at them, Iris and him upset. "You both better pay him otherwise I will not be performing. Hmph!" Iris and the phantom walked away, leaving horrified managers.
(End of flashback!)
Melody was laughing, now realizing whom she got her scary side from. "The managers would come to understand payment of my salary was worth every penny... if they hoped to continue their productions without incident!" He finished as she closed her eyes. When she opened them, he was nowhere to be seen. "He must've used this to spy on me." She climbed through and was underneath the stage.
She was learning her true parentage and whom she was..
