"Ms. Walker wants you to perform for our school again?" Asked Brooke in disbelief as Melody blushed slightly. "Yes, I still don't understand why I have these talents that I have, Miss Rogers." She replied, her green plaid skirt swishing side to side. Paired with her skirt, she wore a crisply ironed white blouse, a black vest with silver buttons, a black tie, white knee-high socks, and black Mary-janes. Her hair was in a half braid hairstyle with a sparkly silver butterfly hair-clip pinning her left side of her bangs back.
She walked to the auditorium as she unzips her backpack, taking Slappy out of it and placing him on top of her bag. "Well, if I'm going to sing, I'll need to practice." She said, petting his head and going to the stage, smiling as her muscles relax and closed her eyes, letting the music fill her mind. (A/n: start music)
"Think of me, think of me fondly when we said goodbye.. Remember me once in a while, please promise me you'll try~ when you find that once again you long to take your heart back and be free! If you ever a moment, spare a thought for me..~"
She started dancing as her movements were like fluid, her voice deep yet sweet, like silk caressing the bare skin. The living dummy on her backpack was entranced by her voice and movements.. her locket underneath her vest began to shine as a mirror started glowing. She knew she didn't look like her mother nor her father, since Roselle has light brown hair and brown eyes while Raoul has blonde hair and blue eyes. So.. who was she?
"We never said our love was evergreen, or as unchanging as the sea~ but if you can still remember, stop and think of me..~ think of all the things we've shared and seen, don't think about the way things might have been~ think of me, think of me waking silent and resigned..~ Imagine me trying too hard to put you from my mind~ Recall those days, look back on all those times, think of the things we'll never do..~ there will never be a day when I won't think of you...~!"
Then, three spirits rose up from the mirror. The first one turned into the shape of a beautiful woman. She has long hair that was golden bronze, fair skin with a few third-degree burn marks, viridian orbs with flecks of gold and sapphire that were empty, and she wore a torn white dress with bits of gold, a mask with blue spiral patterns on the lips and lids, white flats with a single pearl, a white pearl necklace and earrings and a wedding band. This was the spirit of Iris.
The second one turned into Esmeralda's spirit. Even in life she was very beautiful. Long blonde hair that was burned at the ends, brown eyes which were also empty, tan skin with a gunshot wound in her chest, a white dress but with blue bits, white heels with a green emerald shaped like a snake for straps, a ruby necklace which was stained with blood and a wedding band. This was the spirit of the soprano.
The final spirit was the ghost of the phantom that haunted the auditorium back then. Melody's father/uncle killed him because he thought he had Roselle.. when they died, their souls were trapped in that damned mirror for so long, not being able to see their beautiful baby girl.. "Can it be? Can it be Melody?" Esmeralda whispered, her eyes shining with tears.. their daughter had grown beautifully.. "bravo! That's my girl!" The soprano called out, proud of her baby girl. She knew she wasn't able to be heard, but she could at least try..
"long ago, it seems so long ago, how young she was.. she may not remember us, but we remember her.." the phantom whispered, wiping a tear from his eye, knowing that his daughter didn't have the memory of the fire that killed Iris because before their wife succumbed to her injuries, she managed to get her daughter and bring her to Roselle in the nick of time..
"Flowers fade, the fruits of summer fade, they have their seasons so do we.. But please promise me that sometimes you will think - - - - Of me~!"
The phantom, Iris and Esmeralda were clapping their daughter's applause, proud of their little girl for turning out similar to them. She opened her eyes and smiled, touching the locket she kept with her. "Heh.. now I know what I'm going to sing for the competition." She said, her viridian orbs sparkling like jewels. Looking at her doll, she noticed his jaw dropped as she walked to him. "Your going to catch flies if you keep your mouth open like that, dear~" she added, closing the bottom half of his face and placing him in her backpack.
She takes her bag and walks out of the auditorium to her last class of the day; History. After school, she goes to her bus stop to wait. As she was walking, her locket was out, shining in the sunlight. When she was practicing, she felt like she wasn't alone.. somehow, she didn't feel threatened or anything! It was like her heart knew who was watching her! She was still questioning her identity when she goes to the bus. The sunlight hits her hair in the right places as thoughts began forming in her head. Who was she and who were her parents?
Once she arrived at her house, she goes straight upstairs and gets out of her clothes into a dark sky blue dress with red lace on the sleeves and emerald green gemstones on the bodice. On her feet were white flats with pearls on the straps and her hair was out of it's braid. That was then she noticed an envelope on her pillow. "That wasn't there when I went to school!" She said, gingerly picking up the envelope and noticed a red skull seal, fingering her locket. Opening the envelope, she retrieves the letter inside it.
"It looks like an invitation.. I am not sure who it's from.." something inside of her had a feeling who it was from.. she cleared her throat and began reading.
'My daughter, the stage has been set once more. I bid thee to go to our opera house and learn more about who you are. Who your true parents are and about your real origins.'
The entire room began spin as she felt dizzy and passed out. When she woke up, she realized she was no longer home. Instead, she was in the burned remains of the Paris opera house! It was still beautiful, as she got up, she heard a voice. "Welcome, our beautiful little princess. Oh, how long we have waited for this day! This time, we will never lose you. This time, you will remember us... bring us the red roses fading into green with blue tips and we will show you your past and origins." Explained the voice as Melody sighed.
"Who even am I? What does he mean by my past? My parents.." She asked herself as she went to the coat check and grabbed a flashlight. Walking to the cloak closet, she turned on the torch. She immediately grabbed a light bulb from the left shelf and went to the power box. "Let's restore power to the opera house for starters." She whispered underneath her breath. Opening the box, she delicately moved her finger to wire one and flipped the switch. She repeated the same for the second switch and continued for the rest of the switches.
Walking over to the ticket booth, she watched, biting her lips to stifle a scream as a hand slammed itself into her open palm...
And produced a ticket.
She gave him a quick smile of thanks and went to the puppet dressed as an usher as his face was disfigured? "What a horrible puppet! The poor thing's face has been disfigured..." she whispered softly and handed her ticket to it. The puppet pulled the dark purple curtain down and she helped him out, gasping as a man wearing a mask came towards her.
"Welcome to our opera house, welcome to your past! The time has come to be reunited with your real parents. Do you remember what happened to us? Here, let me show you..." The man said, taking Melody to her past when she was just barely a month old..
(Flashback!)
Iris was running, holding a basket as her breathing was erratic. Esmeralda was already dead and the phantom was following her on the rooftops. She was covered in third-degree burns as tears stained her face and the silky red baby blanket. The cries of the baby girl stopped her. "Shh.. your gonna be ok." She whispered into the baby's ear as she cooed and fell asleep. She went to the De Chagny mansion and banged on the door. It opened as Roselle appeared. "Iris?! What happened?!?" She said, immediately putting the pieces together and looked down into the basket.
"Is this your daughter?" She asked as the golden bronze haired woman nodded as she felt weak. "Promise me you will take care of my daughter.." that was then Iris's body went slack and fell to the ground dead, Roselle catching the basket. "Shh.." she calmed the baby as that was then Melody's face paled.
That baby was her!
(End of flashback!)
"I had reached the depths of my despair - it was all over. The shadow of my death drew near. Your mothers were the lights in the darkness of my own existence. I was their Angel of music... but they both died. They left me. All was lost, my sweet daughter. The time had come to end it! Our house would burn but our spirits would not rest. One day, we swore we would reunite with our girl!" The phantom said, tears threatening to spill over until he felt his little girl's arms around his waist.
"I'm sorry that happened to you- Oh!" She froze, watching as he snuck down onto his knees and hugged his missing child back, burying his mask into her shoulder. She closed her eyes and suddenly didn't feel her.. father's arms anymore. He had disappeared?!
She smiled sweetly and walked to the auditorium landing.
Let the game begin!
