Meeting The Other Pevensies'
Clink! Clink!
I hear the clinking of glass being stepped upon. The glass from the door.
It's Maugrim!
I turn into a hummingbird and fly to the top of the bookshelf, that is mostly destroyed, in a panic.
I hear my heart rate quicken as what I think to be Maugrim and his pack come in.
But, it's not Maugrim and his pack. It's a bunch of people. Four, to be exact. And one of them is...
"Lucy?!" I ask.
Lucky spins around, trying to find me. She keeps looking around while her other siblings look around at the destruction.
I fly down and phase in front of Lucy. She sees me and smiles with relief.
"Arya!" she exclaims as she goes to hug me.
I kneel down and allow her to wrap her arms around my neck as I wrap my arms around her waist.
"Oh, Lucy!" I say as I smile, my eyes threaten to have tears fall, but they don't.
We pull apart and I put my hands on her face. She's smiling and a few tears are falling. I use my thumbs to wipe them away.
"I was scared that they had gotten you as well!" Lucy says.
I shake my head. "They were gone before I got here." I tell her, sadly.
"What happened here?" asks who must be Lucy's sister.
She has dark brown hair that goes a little past her shoulders, pale peach skin, and freckles in no real order. She is really pretty, though.
I jerk my head in the direction of the poster on the wall. The oldest boy takes it off the wall and reads it.
Afterwards, the oldest girl looks at the oldest, but I'm not looking at them. I look at the floor to see Tumnus' father's portrait, claw marks on the front of it.
"Alright," she says. "Now, we really need to go back."
"But what about Mr. Tumnus?" Lucy asks, and I nod.
"She's right. We can't just leave him to die!" I add.
"If he was arrested for helping a human and harboring an outlaw, I don't think there's anything we can do." the girl says.
"You don't understand, do you?" I ask.
She looks confused. And it takes me and Lucy to clarify.
"I'm the human." Lucy states, boldly. "She must of found out that he helped me."
The boy who I remember his name to be Edmund looks away. And I feel a strange twinge in my gut about it, making me slightly squint my eyes at him. But, I compose myself quickly.
"Maybe we could tell the police." suggests the oldest boy.
"These are the police." I motion at the paper in his hand.
And I silently gasp when I finally see his face. A strange feeling comes over me as I look at him, taking in all of him.
Everything from his light golden brown skin, to light golden hair that goes to his eyes, and finally to his eyes. Blue. The kind of blue that you never forget. Light, but dark at the same time.
And I felt my heart swirl and curve at an alarming rate. My senses feel sharpened, like I've been half awake, now I'm fully awake.
All of this happened in a moment, then I blink. He is staring at me as well. He looks around my age. Taller than me.
Is this what Heart Joining feels like?
Remember earlier when I said my Father and Mother found each other and fell in love? Well, the Elves used to call it Heart Joining, because it's when we have found the other half of our Hearts. And this is exactly how my Father described it.
"And you are?" the oldest girl asks.
I blink of my trance and clear my throat. "I'm the outlaw." I say.
She scoffs. "Yeah, I bet. And I bet you're the other human he helped." she says.
I raise an eyebrow. "What makes you think I'm human?" I say, slightly challenging.
Her eyes go wide. "You're not human?" she asks, slightly scared.
"Sorry to disappoint." I say as I tuck my hair behind my ears.
Edmund gasps. "Look at her ears!" he tells his siblings as he points at me. "What sort of creature are you?!"
Okay, I'm a little offended.
"Okay, Edmund, I am going to tell you something that you would be wise not to forget." I say, struggling to keep my voice civil. "I am not a creature. I am a person, but of a different kind. I'm an Elf."
"You're an Elf?!" all of the Pevensies' exclaim.
"Yes, no need to shout." I say, my eyes shortly flickering outside before looking back at them. "Well, actually, I'm half Elf. My father was an Elf. My mother was a water nymph. But they were both royalty, nonetheless."
"You're a princess?!" the oldest boy asks.
"Yes." I say as I nod at him.
"How do you know my name?" Edmund asks, curiously.
"Oh, I was the polar bear that you saw Lucy ride the last time you were in Narnia." I answer, casually.
"You were a 'polar bear'?" the oldest girl asks, skeptically.
"Yup. You see, I have a shapeshifter ability. Along with a few other things. But, more on that later." I say. "Anyway, my name is Arya. Arya Nightingale."
"I'm Susan." says the oldest girl.
"And I'm Peter." the oldest boy says.
Peter... What a good name.
"So, you are the outlaw. Well, maybe we can do something about Tumnus." Peter says, trying to reason with his siblings.
"Why?" Edmund asks, making us all look at him. "I mean, he's a criminal!"
That snaps some of my nerves.
"Look, you little toad, it's because of that 'criminal' Lucy is still alive and still with you!" I snap. "And he sacrificed himself to make sure Lucy got back to all of you! So don't you ever call Tumnus with anything else than respect!"
He gulps and looked down. Then, we all hear a PSST!! then chirping of a bird.
"Did that bird just PSST!! us?" Susan asks.
I nod and smile. I grab and put on my bow and quiver. And then, I grab the letter and put it in my satchel. Then, we all walk outside. And we hear some scratching then, we see...
"It's a beaver!" Lucy says.
Then, Peter goes toward him, clicking his tongue and holding his hand out. I raise an eyebrow at his actions.
What is he doing?
"Well, I ain't gonna sniff it, if that's what you want." Mr. Beaver says to Peter.
Apparently this surprises everyone except for me and Lucy. We both are laughing.
"Lucy Pevensie?" he asks as he points at Lucy.
We both stop laughing and walk forward.
"Yes?" Lucy asks.
To respond to question, Mr. Beaver pulls a white handkerchief. Wait a moment...
"That's the handkerchief that Lucy gave-"
"Tumnus." Mr. Beaver says as he nods. "He gave it to me before the Secret Police came."
"Is he alright?" Lucy asks.
"Further in." Mr. Beaver says as he starts walking.
"What?" Peter asks, not understanding.
"He means the trees." I say as I start to follow him.
"Wait, we can't just follow him!" Susan asks.
"She's right." Edmund agrees. "How do we know we can trust him?"
"He says he knows the faun." Peter shrugs.
"He's a beaver." Susan says, as if that's supposed to mean something. "He shouldn't be saying anything!"
Do beavers not speak wherever they're from? That must be boring.
"Everything all right?" Mr. Beaver asks as he pokes his head out from behind the snow bank.
"Yes." Peter and I say at the same time.
"They were just talking." I say.
"Alright, come on." he says before he turns again.
"Susan," I say. "You're in Narnia. Nothing is just what it seems."
And with that, we all followed Mr. Beaver to wherever he's leading us.
