Chapter Three

Phil's POV

"What's wrong Chris?" I asked curiously.

"Look, I know we've just met and all ..." He started nervously. I frowned in confusion, where was he going with that? "And I just ... I really like-" He stopped in frustration. I froze in panic for a second. I hoped to god Chris didn't say he liked me because I hardly knew him and I was pretty sure PJ liked him. "I really like PJ but I don't know how to tell him!" Chris sighed in defeat. I let out a little breath in relief.

"You should just tell him head on. I'm guessing you guys have been friends for a while - he'll understand." I suggested. Chris didn't move, he just stared down at his shoes.

"I-I did once, but things were awkward and for all I know PJ's already forgotten about it." Chris sighed sadly. My brows furrowed as I tried to come up with a solution - I was so sure PJ liked Chris. "Sorry for dragging you into this but I'm not very good at handling it alone." Chris sighed getting teary eyed.

I stared at the boy in horror then quickly hugged him to calm him down. Chris happily hugged back. After a few moments he let go and pulled himself together. "I-I'm fine, it's just ... he's so oblivious!" He said almost angrily.

We stayed silent for a few seconds before his eyes lit up and he snapped his fingers. "Phil?" He asked, dragging the 'i' out with a grin. I didn't like his tone of voice.

"What...?" I asked anxiously.

"Can we flirt with each other? Just to see if he gets jealous? If nothing happens I swear we won't have to do anything!" Chris begged, pulling out the puppy dog eyes. I bit my lip in thought before finally giving up. It felt nice to be needed and I really wanted to get Chris and PJ together. If making PJ jealous was the first step then I was in.

"Alright ..." I agreed with a small smile. I had no idea how I was going to pull it off considering my awkward mannerisms but I was determined to help Chris out. "But if he works it out, it's all your fault." I smirked and he hugged me again, only tighter.

"It's already working!" He whispered in my ear. I looked over his shoulder to see PJ scowling at his food. We both made our way back to PJ and sat back down. PJ smiled but there was annoyance still swimming in his gaze. The majority of that lunch time consisted of Chris occasionally flirting with me and PJ trying his hardest to hide his jealousy.

I didn't get how they hadn't gotten together earlier. It was clear as day that PJ was jealous of Chris' affections towards me so why did he brush off Chris' confession so long ago? Maybe he had personal reasons. However I believe they are totally perfect for each other and they look at each other so fondly. Chris stopped flirting near the end of lunch so he and PJ could go back to normal and talk like best friends.

I was happy to watch them converse. They didn't realize how cute they were around each other. However I was once again distracted when Dan Howell waltzed into the room. My heart jumped into my throat as I watched him order his food and flip his fringe out of his eyes. If I'd had ovaries they'd have exploded.

"Hey Phillip, what you staring at?" Chris asked, breaking me out of my trance.

"N-no one." I stuttered and hid behind my fringe.

"Ooh, he has eyes for Howell." PJ snickered and wiggled his eyebrows at me. I tried to hide my reddening blush by avoiding all eye contact.

"You should use that cute blushing thing with him, he'd hardly be able to resist!" Chris giggled. PJ looked like he was going to murder someone so I signalled Chris to tone it down a bit before PJ imploded from jealous thoughts. Chris understood but took the opportunity to sling his arm round PJ's shoulders and say, "Aw don't be jealous, you look cute when you blush too." This successfully got PJ to blush as well.

"Shut up." He muttered, embarrassed. I smirked at them before diverting my attention back to Dan. I watched him walk out the hall but not before giving me a small wave first. I felt my heart beat loud in my ears and gave him a small nod back. When I turned back to Chris and PJ they were both looking at me in shock.

"PHILIP LESTER! What spell have you put that boy under?" PJ almost yelled. I looked at them in confusion.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"Why did he wave at you? That's like winning the lottery around here because he literally blanks everyone. Something happened - what was it?" Chris asked, leaning towards me eagerly.

"We're all about the gossip." PJ batted his eyelashes like a girl and I chuckled at their eagerness.

"We were talking..." I muttered.

"TALKING?" They yelled in unison. I shushed them, ignoring the weirded out looks we were getting.

"How?" Chris asked in disbelief.

"He asked me how school was going and I told him it was going great and I had you guys. He said you two were pretty cool compared to the majority of the school." I smiled.

Chris and PJ sat there gobsmacked. They didn't speak for a minute until Chris looked like he was about to burst. "The Prince said that about us?" He squeaked happily.

"Yeah." I chuckled at their expressions.

"Well of course, we rule this dump!" Chris gained composure and went back to being his cool self by lighting his fake cigarette. PJ and I laughed at the boy's recovery.

"What are you lovely ladies laughing about?" A voice asked from behind. I felt my mood dampen at his voice and I saw Chris and PJ stare him down in case he did anything funny. "What's with the looks?" Anton asked as he sat down beside me.

Chris looked like he was about to beat him up but PJ held him firmly to his seat. Still, PJ kept a steely gaze on the boy in case he started any funny business. "What are you doing here?" I sighed.

"Can I not sit with a friend?" Anton asked, a look of hurt in his eyes. I sighed, I knew I was being rude as i had promised him a second chance. I wondered if the boy had really changed after al this time. It seemed too unlikely and I was still very wary of his actions.

"Fine, whatever." I grumbled and played around with the  food on my tray.

"So Phil, I'm having a party tomorrow and you're invited. Coming?" Anton asked, his cheeky side returning.

"Sorry Anton, I've got plans with Chris and PJ tomorrow." I nodded towards my friends whose tensed up bodies relaxed at my loyalty. I didn't need to think twice, I'd rather spend time with them over Anton any day.

"Oh they can come too, I'll see you guys there" He insisted and left before I could reply.

"Bastard." Chris muttered under his breath.

"We don't have to go guys." I reassured but Chris sported a mischievous grin.

"Are you kidding? We're gonna fuck shit up!" Chris grinned. PJ rolled his eyes but nodded in agreement with Chris' enthusiasm.

"Not literally but who would pass down a good party?" PJ asked.  I shrugged. Looked like I was going to my first party ...
