Onward to the story!
————————————————
Hi, My name is Nick, this is my story.
Nick's POV:
So what are my first memories. Sound. The sound of wings flapping and then just silence. It was dark and cold. Then I couldn't breathe. I pushed at this inescapable prison until rays of light pierced through and suddenly I was hatched. You see, I'm a dragon. A Nightlight to be precise. I had been hatched alone with no parents around and no one to help me. I had woke up to see black and white egg shells surrounding me. My instincts started to kick in, telling me to find my parents. I looked... but no one was there. The land had scorch marks, but no bodies. It was if a fight had broken out. I cried out, hoping for someone to come in, but nobody came. I spent a day hungry and alone. The first feeling I had to experience was sorrow. I felt sad, learning that no one was coming. The next day my instincts almost told me to give up, that I would never make it. It was on this day that I met him.
Hal's POV:
As I was gliding through the air, not having a single care for the world below or around me... I felt something pull at me, to land at the island in front of me. Not knowing as to why, I let myself to follow this strange pull. Landing, I see a young hatchling, alone, scared and hungry. I couldn't help but feel sympathy to him for no hatchling must endure such harshness, ever. Nearing the poor young one, I slowly lower my head to inspect him as to not scare him. Seeing as how he was covered in small scratches, my resolve to help the young one grew. I first had to find him some food if he was to survive.
Nick's POV:
I hear the flapping of wings and I turn around to see a Dragon with black scales and a dark red membrane under his wings. His eyes were full of compassion and sympathy and I felt more at ease the longer I was around him. He lowered his head to inspect me and noticed the small scratches and wounds I had received from my first day of hatching. I chirped, trying to tell him I was hungry. For this was the first dragon I had encountered besides myself. I then felt myself start to collapse as exhaustion overtook my body. The last thing I remember was the Dragon before blacking out.
Hal's POV:
Seeing the poor hatchling collapse and fall unconscious, I take flight immediately to find him some food, but not before setting the little one in between my claws, caressing him gently. Luckily finding some boar nearby, I land on a cliff edge to set the hatchling down before dive bombing the boar. Before it was able to comprehend what happened, I dug my fangs into its neck to end its life instantly. Carrying the dead boar back, I was pondering as to why did I feel a pull towards the little one. Shaking me head, I focus on the task at hand. Setting my kill down, I take another look at the hatchling, confirming it was barely a day since it hatched. Slicing the boar to small edible bits for the hatchling with my claws, I curl around him to prevent him from getting any worse for the winter cycle was closing in. Pondering again as to why I felt the pull, I wait for the little one to wake.
Nick's POV:
I woke to the scent of two animals. One looked like a scary animal with parts pointing out of it's head. The other was the dragon I saw before. I realized that we had moved from our original location and that the other dragon had curled his body around mine. His paws had embraced me and his wings had curled up so that I was sheltered from the wind. I was comfortable in the embrace. I felt warm and happy for some reason. My stomach then growled, showing my obvious hunger.
"Fewd?" I tried asking the dragon.
Turning his head around to look at me, he offered me some boar slices while saying "Eat. Save your strength for now little one."
I looked at the Dragon with gratitude in my eyes before eating the pieces. The taste was incredible. I soon had a full belly and my eyes started to get heavy. I yawned as I felt myself getting tired. I looked towards the dragon with sleepy eyes.
"Rest," was the only thing he said to me before covering me with his wing.
I shivered as I felt a harsh winter breeze roll through, chilling my young body. I got closer to the other dragon, but the chill was still there.
Hal's POV:
Feeling the hatchling move closer, I decide to close my eyes and feel the wind around. Feeling a slight a chill, I raise my inner fire to ward off the chill. In doing so, I heard a purr emite from the Hatchling as it felt the temperature rise to a more comfortable level. Smiling softly, I look around from the cliff, seeing as the island was quite a ways from another, probably a day flight at least. Pondering as to when to move to a more suitable place for the hatchling, I lay my head down near the little one; seeing as the island is the only current place for the hatchling to grow before moving elsewhere. The hatchling moved closer to me, trying to absorb as much heat as it could. Chuckling softly, I raise my inner fire slightly more to make sure the hatchling is well protected from the chill. The hatchling lays its head down, and closes its eyes, as a smile appears on its face. Seeing as how the sun has already set, I decide to take a nap to prevent myself from feeling drained.
