Chapter 9: Drama and Cafes, Oh My!
———————————————————————————
Ever since that video of Andrew got all over the school, the rumors and being the brand-new outcast was a lot to get used to.
For once, i could kiss Andrew walking me home, or hanging out with McKayla and Tracey goodbye but that part was obvious.
What wasn't obvious is the mean stuff people would put on my locker and keep uploading it online. Yeah, the stuff was harsh, but at least it was a matter of taking down posters during morning, lunch and at the end of the day.
The staring, the giggling, the snickers was enough of bury my self-esteem, but during class when I walked into the bathroom, McKayla and Tracey were there, chatting and gossiping while fixing their no makeup makeup.
When they look up, Tracey rolled her eyes while McKayla smirked at me. "Hey...Rosey."
"Hey guys..." I mumbled, crossing my arms, McKayla looked me up and down and held back a laugh.
"Wow... you look even fuller than last time." McKayla smiled, I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms, "Stop it."
"Oh no, it's cute! I mean, it's good to let yourself go every once in a while, right Tracey?" McKayla asked, Tracey smirked and flipped her head, "Mm, I'd say with a bit of moderation then how she's looking, but yeah, it's good to let go."
In my mind, I'm standing up to them, screaming, yelling and making them small, crumbled up like a ball of paper, shaking and shivering in fear!
But since I was the one with the racing heart and the moving eyes, I was the one walking out of the bathroom with my tail between my legs. As I walk down the hallway, clinching on to myself, I couldn't help but feel the mean glared and whispering, the fake waving before snickering behind my back.
And when I got to my locker again, another poster of my 7th grade brace face was on there, again with the same "Slut!" Written in Text.
And when I peeked over my shoulder, Andrew and his friends were staring at me from the stairwell as I looked away to take the poster down and hear their whispering.
Sure, if they wanted to think I was weird or stupid or crazy, sure, it doesn't matter. I don't care what they think.
But slut? That wasn't true, and they knew it! Andrew was the only guy I'd ever gotten a crush on, and he'll be the last! I'm never gonna fall in love with someone like him, ever again!
This, I promise...

During Lunch, I decided to head back into the art room, maybe Jade will be there, maybe she wouldn't.
Either way, I'd like to not see anyone in the lunchroom mocking me or whatever, so when I walked out of there, tray in hand, I passed by my locker to see the same poster on my locker, again.
At this point, I'm sure they had made copies of it all.
I should tell the teachers; I should tell someone about this. But there's no way that would work! I mean, Andrew's the pretty golden boy of the school, he takes baseballs like they're nothing, he's good-looking and always sweet to the teachers! So, no matter what I'd did or do, he'd win. And the same goes for McKayla and Tracey.
I felt my hands shaking with anger as I growled at the poster, this wasn't fair, they get to act like gods, better than everyone else, and the moment things are looking sour, they take me off of the ship and fling their crap at me!
That's not fair, that's not fair-
"Hey, Rose?"
I gripped on to my tray and turned my head, Jade was behind me, staring at me. "Are you... okay?"
"Uh, yeah..." I move towards my locker to cover up the poster, "Yeah, I'm good. Uh, what are you doing here?"
"Nothing, I was just walking around. I got bored, so." She gestured towards the hallway, she looked behind me as I pressed my back against the cold locker, she stared at me.
"Rose. What are you doing? And what are you hiding behind your back"
"Nothing! Well, uh, nothing is behind my back! I have no idea what you're talking about." I laughed nervously, Jade stared at me, annoyed, and before I could stop her, she pushed me beside to stare at the poster.
Wow, that girl was strong! Even if she was around 5'3.
"Jade... please..." I begged, but she shushed me before looking at the paper and tearing it off. "Wow..."
"Yeah..." I sighed and crossed my arms, I looked back at her, "Look, it's okay. It's a stupid poster, who cares about it?"
Jade raised an eyebrow and scoffed. "You're kidding, right? You're just gonna let this poster be there?"
"No! I was going to take it down! But at this point, I'm willing to let it go, they're just gonna place a second up there."
"Wait, what? " Jade stared at me in disbelief, "They'd been putting this crap up all day?"
"Uh, yeah? I think so, you have to give them props for being determined to the whole bit." I replied, sitting down, Jade shook her head and sat down next to me, crumbling up the poster and tossing in the nearest trash bin.
"No, screw their determination." Jade scolded, I sighed and unwrapped my sandwich, "I mean, it makes sense. In a way?"
"Oh yeah, they're the cool kids who walk around with their chests puffed in the air and the rest of us have to be miserable losers." Jade growled; her hands balled into fists as she hit the locker behind her.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before she opened her hand and sighed. "Sorry, I have some... issues..."
"No, it's okay." I smiled nervously and sighed, "I get it, I'd been feeling super angry. I mean, my boyfriend, uh, ex-boyfriend cheats on me with McKayla and they get to be the heroes, while I'm the stupid tramp villain..." I ripped my sandwich and sighed.
"Yeah, I get it."
I looked at her, she sighed and laid her head against her locker. "My whole life, whole life, I needed to stand up and be strong against people like them. I don't want to get into it, but man, they did a number on me."
I held the sandwich into my hand and bit into it.
Things got quiet between us as we ate our lunch together, signing to herself.
But as we talk, I glanced at her as she kept her eye closed, while finishing up my sandwich, looking up at the celling before I looked over at her again.
And before I realized it, the words just slipped out of my mouth "Wanna hang out at a cafe?" She typed on her phone before saying "Yeah, why not?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~There's plenty of cafe in towns, all of them good, but my favorite one is the cute ice cream cafe called Uncle Berries, where a lot of people would go to.
I was scared, of course, because the chance of seeing someone from school felt like walking into a haunted house! But thankfully, no evil ghouls today.
We sat at a table, drinking ice cream flavored smoothies with red spoons as I began to talk again.
"Man, I just... hate this. You know? I'd never thought this is how my life would go," I explained, Jade shrugged as well, "Yeah, flew to close to the sun."
"Mm. I just... it's not fair. I mean, I want them to feel what I'm feeling, like all of that self-doubt and hurt, just right back at them... but that won't work..."
Jade looked left and right and raised an eyebrow, "Why not? Aren't you super smart? You could totally wreck someone's life up without trying."
"Aw. Thanks." I smiled and shook my head, "No it's the fact I did do it, but it didn't work out. I mean, I posted about it, but thanks to that video of Andrew's, I'm socially dead."
Jade got quiet and drank her smoothie, she licked her lips and smiled. "You know what? Let's do something together."
"What?"
"Let's get back at those guys. I know people who just act like they can get away with anything, and they do, because we just let them. So, let's get back at them."
I blinked and drank my smoothie, staring right at her. I could feel something in my gut implode.
Will this be worth it? Could it be worth it? Maybe? But then my brain flashed with all of the mean stuff McKayla and Tracey did, the evil poster Andrew posted alongside with his friends, and the crying, the fear and the heart break.
I sucked in my teeth and nod my head. "Yeah, let's do it."
-Dear Diary-
~Hung out with Jade today, and honestly? She's pretty cool. I mean, it's weird to hang out with the girl who told you that your friends are actually trash and you should dump them, and you didn't believe them, but hey! It works! ~
~I'm not sure how we can exactly do this revenge plan business, especially since I barely have any supplies but oh well! It's cool! I mean, I don't really have a good plan, but the idea is just to expose McKayla, Tracey and Andrew for the jerks they pretend not to be. ~
~Ugh, I need to rest, I'll come up with some ideas on my phone later, I'll write into you later, diary, love you.~
