Three
The next day at school, Brandon came up to me and asked why I wasn't there yesterday. I wasn't sure how to explain it, but I told him that I got trapped in my attic last night, couldn't get out, and ended up fainting. "You know, when I was a kid, I used to sleepwalk..." Brandon mentioned.
"Oh, I wasn't sleepwalking," I replied. Rosa joined us and asked the same question, and I gave her the same answer.
"Lily, are you absolutely certain you were sleepwalking?" Rosa inquired. "Yes! I'm positive!" I exclaimed. To be honest, I wouldn't believe what I was saying either, because it sounded bizarre, but I wasn't sleepwalking!
I was wide awake, and guess what, something locked me in the attic! And I have a hunch Angela's behind it...
After school, Rosa came to my house to investigate. "There's no one here, what made you go to the attic?" She asked. "I don't know! My jewelry was missing, and I thought someone had broken in!"
"If someone broke in, they would've left traces, and you would've heard them," Rosa pointed out.
She was completely right!
I didn't hear anyone, so it's highly unlikely that someone broke in. I asked Rosa if she wouldn't mind looking around, and she happily agreed. I was incredibly shaken by what happened last night, and I just couldn't let it go.
But then I wondered, could Angela be involved? Was she somehow still alive? "Lily!" Rosa called out. "I've checked every corner of this house, and there's nobody here. Just admit you were sleepwalking."
"Enough with the sleepwalking!" I said firmly. "Someone was here – that's the only explanation for me being locked in the attic!" I told Rosa, who didn't take my response well and left my house right away.
I made a big mistake, and I was terrible friend! I needed to apologize to Rosa.
A few hours later, I was just chilling and watching TV when I heard this little girl laughing. It made me think about playing with my mom, but that's not important right now! I had to see what was going on.
The laughter got louder when I walked into my room and saw Angela's head staring at me. I tried turning it away, but it just turned right back to face me all by itself!
I woke up, it turned out to be a dream. "Another nightmare...." I mumbled to myself.
I heard someone playing pool in the game room and that's when I saw Rosa!
"I-I thought you left!" I said
"What are you talking about? I never left!" Rosa responded. "You fainted after I came back from investigating the house, so I put you in bed. I decided not to leave because I want to be there for you."
"I'm fine," I answered with certainty. "I might be losing my mind, but I need to let it go."
Rose hugged me, comforting me that everything would be okay. "I think you're having visions of your mom, considering she's gone and you two were really close."
"Maybe I am," I accepted. "I'm sorry for not letting it go earlier."
"It's totally fine," Rosa reassured me. "I'm here for you."
I felt a bit of a blush as she embraced me. Maybe I am a lesbian; I haven't quite figured out my own sexuality.
I truly needed this, trust me. I've been feeling a bit off since my mama passed away. I'm so happy that Rose is here for me, and Brandon too!
The next day at school, I was reading a book in the library, until the Isabelle and Cooper interrupted me.
"Hey, didn't I warn you that you'd regret what happened yesterday?" Cooper said.
I was recalling the events of yesterday, and it frightened me, yet I attempted to protect myself. Is there more to the story?
